RING in the New Year

Last year, I began a new tradition of quite literally ringing in the New Year (with a new ring to commemorate the occassion). Read how it all started here and see last year's picks too. This year, the tradition continues. It's a fun tradition to start with friends and loved ones. I've rounded up my faves and hope you'll find something to inspire you, whether it symbolizes where you're at now or where you hope to be this year. (I'm having a hard time picking just one!)

{Above: Marc by Marc Jacobs Starlight Friends Pave Apple Ring -- For the girl who can't get enough of the Big Apple.}

Noir Jewelry Owl Ring -- This little guy's a hoot.

Rachel Leigh Jewelry Interlocking Chain Ring -- Love the sentiment.

Kenneth Jay Lane Star Ring -- For when you wish upon a star...

CC SKYE Blossom Ring -- A whoppingly gorgeous way to ring in the New Year indeed.

Kenneth Jay Lane Bird Ring -- A little birdie told me 2010 is going to be a fab year!

Lee Angel Jewelry Cecile Ring -- Giving new meaning to looking into your crystal ball...

Kate Spade Moon River Bow ring -- You'll think of Audrey every time you wear it.

Erica Weiner Herkimer Ring -- A cheeky take on diamonds for the cheeky girl in you.

Plastique's World Landmarks Acrylic Ring Set -- For the girl who loves to travel or loves to daydream about it (store re-opening soon, hopefully it will be available again!)

Erica Weiner Knot Nesting Rings -- Simply lovely.

Tiffany Sparklers Yellow Citrine Cocktail Ring -- A cocktail ring so pretty, you won't need the cocktail anymore.

B Jewelry Regal Signet Ring -- Old school yet modern, sweet and cool.

Dillon Designs Rings -- Cute Shrinky Dink rings with nostalgic imagery for only $8 each? Yes, please.

Tiffany Notes I Love You Ring -- Simply put, beautifully designed.

Tiffany 1837 Lock Ring Timeless. Love.

MOA by Ingrid Montoya NY Skyline Ring -- Love New York? Me too.

Yellowgoat Rings -- Love, love, love the Keepsake Box Ring and the Good Time Ring, where you can carry your favorite photo with you always for the world to see.

New Year's Eve Traditions

How will you be ringing in the New Year? We normally keep it pretty low-key, celebrating with friends or family at home with silly games, yummy bites and champagne (or milkshake) delights. For some reason, New Year's Eve always reminds me of three of my favorite movies, Arthur (don't ask!), Breakfast at Tiffany's and When Harry Met Sally. A perfect New Year's Eve for me? Cuddled up on the couch (with my Snuggie and my hubby) watching all three.

Who doesn't love getting caught between the moon and New York City and ridiculous parties with long ciggies (okay, I prefer candy ciggies)? And can you really top this: "When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." -- Harry (Billy Crystal) to Sally (Meg Ryan) on New Year's Eve in 1989's When Harry Met Sally (can you believe this movie is 20 years old!)

How do you like to ring in the New Year?

Once in a Blue Moon...River

Did you hear? We'll be ringing in the New Year with a blue moon! Though, unlike its name suggests, it won't actually be blue. Just big, bright, shiny and full (the second full moon of the month). I'll take it.

Happy New Year, dearies. May it be big, bright, shiny and full...of happiness, loveliness and everything you want.

Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end -- waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

Sex and the City 2 Trailer (insert schoolgirl squeals here!)

No, I didn't love the first Sex and the City movie. Yes, I will definitely see -- and be counting down the days - to the Sex and the City sequel. I can only hope it's more like the TV show this time around, but even if not, I will be seeing the third, fourth and fifth installments. I believe they call that obsessed? Forgive me for getting "Carried" away (sorry, couldn't resist!). Since this seems to be my year of travel (I am technically homeless, mind you, while traveling this thing we call the world), I especially appreciate that the girls appear to be going on a travel adventure of their own. And of course love that the trailer's set to Empire State of Mind.

Will you be watching?
