Okay, actually party because it's MY birthday! I'm 17 again! Okay, that's a lie, but one I'm going to stick with because that's how old I feel. I mean, I honestly can't be old enough to be married and have children (not that I am or do) but um, I can't be of that age bracket…can I? Denial, it's not just a river, you know. Anyway, let's get back to the party part. It's not a party for me, or for today, but much more important and if you care at all, and can, you will come because I asked (I'm allowed to use guilt trips on birthdays, right?). My sister's even flying in from Texas for this event!! It's this wonderful fashion party I'm throwing here in Motown called Couture a la Mode with the superb clothing designer Jennifer Graham of Urbanity Clothing. It's this Saturday, April 24th from 7-11:30 pm in Ferndale! It's also the reason this blog hasn't been updated in over a month until now. The planning that has gone into this shindig has boggled my fragile mind. It's been a blast but completely exhausting as well (note: If you've emailed me and haven't heard back in a while, you will as soon as this party is over -- I swear!). We'll basically be showcasing my handbags and all of Jen's awesome clothes, sipping cocktails, nibbling sweets, enjoying great music, fab people and having a gay ol' time. The theme is candy for the mouth and eye. It should be a blast so I hope if you're in this part of the country you can come by and support us! There's no pressure to buy, but we will be offering 10% off any orders placed that night and we’ll also be raffling off original designs -- it should be a yumalicious time! We plan to make Couture a la Mode a recurring event, once every 2-3 months, inviting a new designer or artist to join us each time, as a way of helping to support and showcase the local designers of the community. Just because we're not in NY or LA or Paris or Milan doesn't mean we have to sulk about it. Instead we plan to party, fashionably of course. Any and all are welcome but we request that you RSVP to rsvp@bussbuss.com so we know how many to expect and plan for accordingly. Anywhere from 50-500 people could show up so it shall be interesting to say the least. Party Like It's Your Birthday!
