But hopefully these sites will lead you in the right direction. First, a few tips to keep in mind on your search. It can seem great at the time to buy a neon pink couch, but after a year or so when your taste changes -- yet again -- you're stuck with a bright neon pink couch. Rather than selecting colorful large pieces of furniture, you should accent with colorful accessories instead. So a great tan couch spruced up with pink throw pillows would be a more practical, yet still fun, choice than a pink couch with tan pillows. You'll be able to change the feel of the room for the minimal cost of new pillows rather than having to splurge for a whole new couch. Also, I'd highly caution against buying a couch online, unless you're able to test the same model in a showroom somewhere beforehand. Once you are able to test a couch, be sure to really test it. That means kicking off your shoes at the showroom and putting your feet up, just like you would at home. It's got to be functional or it's not worth having in the end.

Now for the fun stuff! For reasonably priced contemporary -- yet livable -- furniture, scope out crateandbarrel.com. L-shaped sectionals, like the Troy sectional for $1499, are great for loft spaces, as they help to define living areas. Also, low profile and smaller scale furniture tends to work best, so stay away from overly stuffed items. You can also find fun dining chairs, like the Infinity Chair for $69.95, in great colors like kiwi and tangerine.

For a fab and wallet-friendly dining table, check out westelm.com. A Queer Eye guy favorite, West Elm has a great round dining table in chocolate with circle cutout legs for $399. Also cool, the funky overlapping squares headboard -- $229 for a queen. See what Carson and the boys are also chirping about.

Another superb find is the veery chair, on sale for $99.95 at cb2.com, Crate and Barrel's fun and funkier cousin. Great for the dining table, these orange chairs put the fun back into five-course dining.

Design Within Reach's site, dwr.com, sells every schizophrenic designer's dream rug, the InterfaceFLOR™. Chose whatever color and textures you want in 18"x12" modular tiles and then lay them out in whatever pattern you wish. Each tile is just $8-$11, so you can change the look and feel of any space in mere minutes. The tiles are also washable, recyclable and waste-reducing. Triple score. Other items can be quite pricey, leaving you wondering whose reach these designs are within, but persistent hunters will always find great gems.

Retromodern.com will make you salivate, but prices on the larger items can also make you curse yourself for not yet being Trump-rich. Don't fret, you can still score great stuff like the happy hour wall clock -- a smiley face takes the place of the "5" -- for $39. Cheers to that!

Zglow.com offers stackable, modular metro cubes for $299, allowing you to display your wares in style. Umbra.com features Juxta Drawer Systems, which are stackable multi-functional drawers you can use for your clothing or for your office supplies. Each drawer is $35.

When it's time for the necessary accessories and you feel like splurging, hop on over to unicahome.com. Here you'll find pink and stainless steel wastebaskets and toilet brushes for $159 and $139 respectively, as well as furniture, art, barware and just about anything else you could ever crave.
