Kelly's Klicks: Scrumptious Scarves Q. Fall's just begun, but it's already so cold! Any suggestions on where I can find some fab, fun scarves? A. What better way to warm up than with a soft, cozy scarf! I'm loving the made-to-order ones available at lulette.com. Have anything you want to say woven on a darling scarf in the colors of your choice, or choose from one of the clever options already available, such as Death Before Disco, Cupcake Queen, I Love My Thrift Store and more. Also cute, the pomlette style: a thin knit band with a fun fluffy pom that you can nestle around your neck. Prices range from $26-$89.
Next, cruise by curliegirl.com and scope out the adorable Emma Scarf, made of bright teal wool and accented with a darling gold bow ($58). The Gwen Scarf is equally sweet: warm heather grey punched up with a red leather heart accent ($58). The coordinating hats will top off your sweet style perfectly.
Continue your scarf hunt at supermaggie.com, where you'll discover a bevy of unique handmade creations. Far from your average scarves, must-sees include the Dumbell (skinny in the middle, chubby on the ends), the very artistic Mille (over-the-top romance) and the Scallop (large scalloped edges formed by hand). Prices range from $36-$140.
Momastore.org has some great finds too, including the Origami Scarf by Reiko Sudo and Mizue Okada ($150). Emulating the Japanese art of folding paper, the delicate scarf is folded repeatedly at sharp angles, and then permanently pressed using a special pleating process. It opens to a faceted gemlike display, and then refolds into a 3" wide strip.
For designer finds at less-than-designer prices, check out bluefly.com's scarves. A pink tartan plaid cashmere scarf is marked down from $110 to $60, but I like the pink cashmere and silk scarf with a heart accent by Acrobat for $55. For a furrier alternative, spiegel.com has a fun faux fur leopard-print wrap for $39 and a faux mink black stole with bow accent for $24. Bananarepublic.com also has a pretty faux fur pull-through stole, in mink or black for $48. Take a jaunt to jcrew.com for their ultra preppy selection. I'm partial to the neapolitan-hued Rugby-stripe cashmere scarf for $68.
Last, hop on over to urbn.com, where you'll find everything from Le Tigre's Rainbow Scarf ($24) in blindingly bright hues to a classic white angora scarf ($18).
Got questions? We've got you covered! Send them to kelly@bussbuss.com and we'll hook you up. You can also catch Kelly's Klicks each week in Pink magazine.
