May 31, 2003 : DOWN WITH LOVE
|
I've never featured a movie as a DailyBuss before, but after seeing 'Down With Love' last night, I feel I must. Starring Ewan McGregor and Renee Zellweger, DWL parodies 1960's bedroom comedies and is simply fun and visually stimulating to watch. The outfits are tres adorable, as are the sets and all the neopolitan colors. Yummy! If you're in the mood for something light, funny and fun, I suggest you get 'Down With Love' this weekend.

May 15, 2003 : STERLING SILVER SINGLE NECKLACE: $29.95
|
For the longest time I've said that people should have to wear name tags saying if they're available or not. Because let's face it, most guys don't notice if you're wearing a ring on your finger or not. And if they do, they're not sure what it means. And even if you don't have a ring on your finger, you might have a very, very serious significant other. Save everyone the trouble and the anxiousness by declaring your singleness outright. This necklace says it all: you're fun, you're funny and you're honest (let's hope you're *truly* single if you're donning this puppy anyway). Announce your celebrated singleness for $29.95 at wishingfish.com. Once you start wearing this necklace, it won't be long before you need to find one that says 'Taken.'

Some of the coolest, most original necklaces by LA artist Natalie Magarian. Each one is unique, so if you like it get it now, before someone else snatches it up. My heart patters for #42. Shall I scrounge up the $38 to have what rightfully belongs to me? Uh huh. Magarian and partner Gomez also specialize in custom hardware design and manufacturing, but it's the completely captivating photos that are not to be missed.

So many great things to say about these slides. First, I saw a near identical (if not exactly the same) pair at Nine West for nearly twice the price. Second, look at the cute bow accents! May 06, 2003 : HEART HOT WATER BOTTLE: $12
|
It's raining here in Austin, which makes me wanna curl up on the couch, watch cheesy re-runs and wallow in self pity. But to do that alone would make me a loser...which is why I'd take along this ultra-snazzy accessory -- because although I may be a loser, that doesn't mean I have to look like one. Toss that ugly utilitarian-looking water bottle in the dumpster and replace it with one of these heart-shaped doozies instead -- sure to make you feel better in your times of need. May 05, 2003 : TOTAL BITCH SOAP SET: $16

Because I'm feeling like one today...I was going to include this item on the Mother's Day Gift Guide under an' Evil Mom' category, but refrained, as I didn't know what would accompany it. Plus, if your mom truly is evil, then she shouldn't get a present at all...should she? Anyway, I think this is more appropriate for that friend you love to hate, or hate to love. Whichever. I don't care. Scrub away your own bitchiness for $16 at uncommongoods.com.

May 01, 2003 : Neutrogena Sunless Tanning Spray: $8.99
|
Because sometimes faker is better. That pretty ball of fire in the sky is hell on your skin, not only able to cause skin cancer but wrinkles, too (gasp!). No one wants wrinkly, leathered skin. But most everyone wants a healthy looking tan. Unveil the miracle that is tan in a can. Now I know self-tanning products have endured a bad reputation in the past, but that's all so early '90s. There are so many brands and so many options (foam, spray, lotion) that it can be overwhelming. My personal favorite is the Neutrogena spray in medium. The color is natural, dries in five minutes, and is already slightly tinted so you can tell instantly if you need to blend more to avoid streaks. And it's one of the cheapest to choose from. Get your faux fix now at drugstore.com.
A few application tips: 1) Shower and exfoliate first. If your skin is even a little dry, apply lotion as it will make it easier to apply the tanning foam/lotion/spray. 2) Soap is your friend. Wash your hands repeatedly throughout the process. For instance, apply to your legs then wash your hands, then your arms, wash your hands, and so on and so on. When you've finished applying to all your parts, wash your hands really well (get under your nails and all that good stuff). Then put a dab on the back of your hands and rub them together. 3) Alcohol is also your friend. If you should happen to have streaks or any areas you'd like to lighten, rubbing alcohol will take care of it. Following these fairly easy steps will have you looking like a tan goddess in no time.
