DailyBuss : July 2004

July 30, 2004 : The Weekend Buss: I Heart Factory People

Having spent many great years in Austin, BussBuss has been extra anxious about the debut of Factory People's website, the site for the new super hip Austin shop Factory People. We were lucky enough to see the shop in person, but there's no need to go booking your tix. Now you can shop the uber cool website from your couch or local coffee shop. What's so great about Factory People: Everything! There's so much thinking outside of the box and we find that irresistible. Rather than items being categorized by "Shirts," "Skirts," etc., you browse by lifestyle categories such as "Hot Date," "After Party" and "On Holiday." Best of all, you'll find designers you've never heard of, can't find anywhere else in the country and can't live without. We dig this bright yellow Bonsai top by Gsus for $58. Scoop it up, among many other fabu must-haves, at factorypeople.com.

July 29, 2004 : Rag Time

There's just something like a top that seems like it's fashioned out of rags and scraps that gets the juices flowing -- seriously! This ruffled tube top looks great with fitted denim, and if you're tiny enough, you could probably wear it as a skirt, too -- but no guarantees. Marked down from $115 to $79, you can score it at the Los Angeles-based latebloomerstudio.com.

July 28, 2004 : Welcome to the Dollhouse

Ah, city life. A girl yearns to wear cute heels, but has to weigh in the walkability factor. On the hunt for a nice compromise, we came across these sporty slingbacks with a wedge heel and turned-up toe. Snag a fun and funky pair in yellow, lime or black for $39.95 at zappos.com.

July 21, 2004 : Lil Apple

Adios alligator and pony, make room for the lil apple. Cute, preppy polos in yellow, green, fuchsia, turquoise, black and white, it's the little apple logo that makes 'em so cute. That and the price. Just $19.50 for one, or $16 each when you buy two or more, you can get your apple a day at delias.com.

July 20, 2004 : Sew Lurvely

When we stumbled upon this deliciously sweet Rosa Maria clutch by handbag designer Raquel Caruso, we were oh-so-happy and giddy. Sew colorful, sew feminine, sew affordable -- she's just $38! Fabulous with a summer dress and just as great with jeans, you can snag the limited edition bag for yourself at the lovely sewprettyonline.com.

July 19, 2004 : That's Bowl

A girl can never get enough bowls… These adorable small white ones are brilliantly hued on the inside (where it counts, right?) and come in sets of four. Each set includes one of each color: honeydew, sky, terra and yellow. Get your family of four, fab for serving up snacks at parties, for $19.95 at cocoononline.com.

July 08, 2004 : Bon Voyage!

BussBuss lurves lurves lurves you, but needs a little break -- it's not you, it's me! Kidding…the real reason BussBuss needs a mini-break is because that big beautiful baby is moving her tuchis to the Big Apple that never sleeps! Uh, what? That's right, we're relocating to New York City! So, for the next week, BussBuss will be on hiatus (how very Hollywood!) as it attempts to find a new place to rest its style-lovin' head. Wish us luck! We'll be back soon to bring you lots more fab finds, but til then, we'll leave you with one grandiose Buss to tide you over!

Eight is Great! Introducing 8 sites we love to shop and hope you will, too:

cutxpaste.com: We love this indie online consignment shop so much that we never feature it because we wanna keep all the goodies for ourselves! Not cool, but the goodies are! Check out the rawkin' reconstructed t-shirts and skirts -- BussBuss faves!

ibuydiy.com: The first place you should head when you want one-of-a-kind goodies and have hours to surf!

fredflare.com: Childhood memories are forever conjured up when BussBuss shops Fred. Why? Because there's so much cute (and affordable) '80s-inspired stuff to be had! Check out the Bambi Couture…

alphabetsnyc.com: When on the prowl for super unique and odd hostess gifts and regular gifts, BussBuss can be spotted in the e-aisles of this kooky shop. We heart kooky.

blissen.com: The thrill of swooping up fabulously handcrafted, limited-quantity wares is too much for the big double Buss to resist. Right now, we'd kill to adopt a Jill-Bird! And we don't even like birds!

uncommongoods.com: When BussBuss needs a gift or fantasizes about how she'll decorate her new casa, she heads here!

forever21.com: When BussBuss needs a fix for the trendy but super cheap, you can find her pretending she'll forever be 21 here.

wishingfish.com: When BussBuss wants to see the best and cutest gift ideas, she swims with the wishing fishies. Their well-curated selection makes BussBuss pucker up.

Whether you choose to pair this lace-trimmed dress with flops for a backyard barbecue, or strappy heels for an evening out, you'll be instantly colorful and stylicious. Pick up this daisy-print doozy for $49.50 at wetseal.com.

July 06, 2004 : Loop de Loop

Need a place to stash your cash? Lemme send you my address… If you'd like another alternative, you untrusting fiend, then may I suggest a rawkin' vinyl wallet by Loop? I thought so. For a mere $6 you can score a retro-rocker emblazoned wallet, adorned with silver chain and snaps, at girlshop.com.

July 02, 2004 : The Weekend Buss: Poochie Flower Slippers

Pucci-inspired slippers with candy-colored swirls and larger-than-life fabric flowers are a sweet treat for the feet. Wear 'em indoors and out, you can slip into them for $19.99 (originally $49.95) at fields.com.

July 01, 2004 : Swim Fan

The worst part of summer: bathing suit shopping! Most of the cute suits in the shops are cut for model-perfect bods, not the average girl, and surely not one who wants to actually go in the water. And all of the one-pieces are cut for grannies -- yawn! Plus, if you do find something that fits and that you actually like, it's probably at least $100. Which is where online shopping can come in. Bluefly.com has some really cute, well-cut suits, like this Ralph Lauren pink bikini for $40.76 and this Nautica orange tank for $59.46. The best part? All orders are shipped with a pre-paid return label, so if something doesn't fit, you can send it back for free. That beats department store fluorescent lighting any day. And if you spend $100 or more, you can get free shipping when you enter code AFFSUMFS7 at checkout.
