Haute Read

Looking for a fab read or haute listen (for those audiobook or roadtrip-bound hauties out there)? If you're a Candace Bushnell/Sex and the City-aholic, we're pretty sure you'll enjoy Bushnell's latest novel, Lipstick Jungle. We know we're getting a kick out of it. After all, who doesn’t want to read about three powerful Manhattan women at the tops of their fields (publishing, fashion and entertainment) – so what if it's fiction! If you need a chick-lit fix, get it for $14.97 at Barnes and Noble's website. Plus, spend $25 or more and get free 2-3 day shipping, or same-day delivery if you're lucky enough to live in Manhattan.

Jersey Girl

We get such kicks from versatile products. Or, people who are at least clever enough to market them to us as such. Case in point: American Apparel's sheer jersey scarf. We scored a scarf recently at one of AA's Manhattan outposts and have been happily using it as a scarf and belt, but were so super jazzed to see that we can also make like seven different tops out of it! Watch the handy dandy video that shows you how -- and pick out your fave of the 30+ colors (we dig the kelly green, sangria, eggplant and forest). At just $15, you can get one in every color (they also make great gifts!). Click here to get the scoop on AA's cool idea now!

Presents for Purpose

With another horrific hurricane headed our way and many of our nearest and dearest having to evacuate -- not to mention all of the Katrina evacuees who now call Houston home, this 'humanity' tank seems very apropos. Desperate Housewife Teri Hatcher and designers Chrissy and Nicole Azzaro collaborated to create these tops for My-Tee to help support those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Available in four handwritten messages -- humanity, courage, give back, and unity -- all shirts are handmade and limited edition, with 50% of the sale price going to the American Red Cross. Give a little while getting plenty at presentsforpurpose.com.

Summer Dresses For Fall?

What to do with all of those pretty summer dresses this fall? Toss on a tee, turtleneck or thermal underneath and wear those pretty babies over skinny denim! Cozy cardigans make super toppers too. We love this pretty Rosalina Dress for just $34 at dELiA*s because it makes the ultimate transition-into-fall look. See how the model rawks it with a tee and jeans here -- very Sienna Miller. And we think she looks even better without that unnecessary accessory Jude Law dragging her down.

Give and Take

Hurricane Katrina has done more damage than most of us can even imagine, or ever will be able to imagine. And the only way we can help (or so we're being told) is to donate money to the Red Cross. The indie designer community has rallied together in an effort to raise money by having indie designers generously donate items for sale on Etsy.com. All proceeds will be donated to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund, which is providing hot meals to victims and rescue workers, as well as providing other much needed assistance such as shelter, medical needs and even therapy for victims. By buying super cool indie wares, like this Made With Love by Hannah skirt, you'll be helping those who need your help the most. Visit Etsy to shop for a good cause and head to Craft Revolution to read more about this tremendous effort.

Fall for Boots

Finding a great pair of boots that you can actually walk around town in, in denim and skirts no less, is about as easy as finding Mr. Right. So many seem so close to being 'the one,' but after you try them out for a bit, you discover all of their flaws. Fab fashionistas don't have time to waste on discomfort, which is why we think these hipster Durango boots rawk. They hit mid-calf, which is an ultra-plus for those of us not sporting super model-length legs, and they've got that cool western look without being costumey. Pick up a pair for $105.95 at Zappos. As always, you get free shipping and free return shipping, so there's nothing to lose in testing them out, unlike those pesky Mr. Almost Rights.
