April 27, 2006 : Suit Yourself
We have grand dreams of saying bubye to our loft space this summer and heading for the rooftop instead, where, thanks to technology (re: laptops, satellite wireless cards, cell phones, iPods), we'll work while lounging in our swimsuits, soaking up the city sun, and being served fruity drinks by eager eastside hipster boys. Um, that just might happen actually, minus the hipster boys that is, unless there are any takers out there? Anyone? But we'd still want to look vaguely professional, which is where this elegant and sexy cutaway swimsuit by Michael Kors comes into play. Just the right amount of skin and style, it too can be yours for less than a Benjamin (which, let's face it ladies, has actually become a good deal sad but true) at Nordy's.

Partying with Hollywood's A-list is a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it. And that somebody is E!-lister Lara Morgenson, a.k.a eonline.com's Hollywood Party Girl columnist. She parties with the crθme de la crθme of the Hollywood who's-hot (think Paris, Lindsay and Leonardo just to name-drop a few) and then dishes all the dirt and details (like what the celebs are doing and wearing) in her juicy weekly column Hollywood Party Girl which you can read here. She also just started podcasting from the parties themselves which is a huge treat for those of us who are celeb-obsessed it's almost like you're there watching Lindsay's antics yourself! Then, simply click on the bubble on the right hand side (next to the party invite where it says "Get Her Totally Happenin' Podcast" which will take you to iTunes). April 25, 2006 : Henry Road Less Traveled
We recently met newbie textile designer Paula Smail of Henry Road at a party in New York. We were immediately charmed by her infectious personality and voracious appetite for life and even more inspired that she had left a very cush, but ultimately dull, career behind to embark on a new passion (designing) because she felt that she should be living a more creative lifestyle. Huge supporters of taking the road less traveled, we were even further stoked when we saw her brilliant creations extraordinarily colorful pillows, tablecloths, runners, napkins, tea towels, sachets, bags and even stationery, all designed by Paula herself and inspired by her childhood in South Africa and her global travels to Paris, London, New York and beyond. She now calls sunny Los Angeles home and we're sure it's decked out with her eclectic and cool creations -- and we want ours to be too. We'll be picking up some fabulously bold pillows to start and are contemplating the Coffee, Tea and Me tea towels or a tablecloth for Mom for Mother's Day. Check out the whole collection and pick out your faves at Henry Road (named after the road Paula grew up on).

April 20, 2006 : Yellow There
Those who have been BussBuss readers for a while know that we worship at the altar of color. The world is not black and white, so why should our wardrobes be? Which is why we lurve spring and summer! Even the most diehard fans of black and neutrals spice it up with bold hues. Our biggest color obsession right now? Yellow. And while we won't be trouncing around the beach in an itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini any time soon, we will be trouncing around town with one of these Mamie bags. Like carrying around sunshine all day long, these bags are yummy in every sense of the word. Prefer just a ray of sunshine instead? Check out the adorable belts with turtle buckles. And be sure to scope out Mamie's new jewelry too the anchor necklaces and bracelets are a really fun nod to the nautical trend without going overboard. Pun SO intended. Check out the whole new collection at Mamie here.
Psst. Remember, tomorrow is Objects of YOUR Affection day! Email us your fave finds from the week (websites or specific items you've bought or coveted) to editor@bussbuss.com -- please put OBJECTS OF MY AFFECTION in the subject line! We'll post them here like so!

April 18, 2006 : Get Mom Waisted This Mother's Day
Moms are the masters of multitasking, which is why giving Mom a glam gift for Mother's Day that also happens to be versatile is a huge score on your part. What do we propose? Getting Mom waisted, while giving her jewelry too. How to pull that off? With rock candy hip jewelry by Aila Designs. Intended as belts that can be strewn across the hips or looped through your favorite denim, each handmade belt, crafted from colorful imported glass beads, can also be rawked as a necklace. You can even design your own, which is a very grown-up way of giving Mom something handmade (and way better than those paper-and-paste creations you used to give her). Simply choose the color of beads (we heart the tutti fruiti mix and the carmel), select your closure (lobster, S clasp, suede or ribbon), then choose your size and number of strands and presto glamo, a gift Mom and you will love. Plus, Haute Shoppers score an exclusive 10% off when you use code HipMom at checkout, so go ahead and snag one for yourself while you're at it. Mom and daughter waisted together this spring, what could be better? Get started here.

April 13, 2006 : Prints Charming
Spring means but one thing to us here at BussBuss, and that my friends is entertaining. It's time to crawl out of couch-blanket-TV hibernation, pick up the tele and invite your friends (or better yet, send an adorable old school invite) over for some TGIS (thank goodness it's spring) party action. Whether it's a chic cocktail party in the city, a BBQ in the 'burbs, or a fab dinner party anywhere in between (the Hamptons, perhaps?), the whole reason we want to throw a bash is so we can sport a super adorable and retro-glam apron by Sommer Designs. The swoon-worthy prints are also irresistible in handbag and tote form (so Martha-esque -- we just picture strolling down the sidewalks of a resort town with one) and also make fab baby bags and burp cloths, too. Pick your poison (and keep Mother's Day in mind) at Sommer Designs. Plus, Haute Shoppers score an exclusive 20% off when you use code SPRINGFLING at checkout.

April 07, 2006 : In the Trench
You could say it's rainy season, but in New York a few days ago, it was rain, snow and bright sunshine all in one four-hour period. Thanks for keeping us on our fashionable toes, Mama Nature! No really, we like SO appreciate it. We'd already decided on our wellies for the season (remember the cute cowboy ones here?), but we hadn't snagged a cute trench yet. Until today that is, when we spotted this adorable one that looks very Orla Kiely, but only costs $48 at Nordy's. Nordy's also has shopping bags full of cute things we want to bring home, all for less than $80 each. Perhaps we'll add it to the Delia's Wishlist for next week. Til then, scope out your faves and tell us what they are! We love hearing from our stylicious readers and are starting a new feature where we'll include YOUR top picks on the site. So go on and play stylist: Email us your fave finds from the week/day/hour (we know some of you are tres bored at work) to editor@bussbuss.com -- please put OBJECTS OF MY AFFECTION in the subject line!

April 05, 2006 : In Da Hood
While Lekkner is away remodeling, we're left to fend for ourselves on the hip hoodie front. Which thankfully is okay for the time being because Delia's has the cutest new short-sleeved hoodies for spring. In fact, Delia's has soo many cute things right now that we're dedicating a whole Delia's Wishlist feature to it shortly. But for today, the hoodies. Choose from ruffled sleeves, paint-splattered, heart or ladybug-bedecked. We're gonna stock up on all of them because we're feeling ultra-gluttonous you DO know that April is our birthday month, right? Send prezzies STAT, please! Oh right, back to the hoodies. Score your faves here and get free shipping on orders of $75 or more when you use code DQEAFF thru 7/31/06.

April 04, 2006 : Buckle Up
The coolest way to accessorize those daring straight-legged jeans? With a super hip belt of course (preferably worn over a long top if you ask us). We're totally digging this blue antique key belt buckle by Steel Toe Studios, available at Indie Shopper. Or head to Steel Toe Studios and build an entire belt of your own. Designer Erica Gordon, a trained blacksmith, hand paints, distresses and patinas each belt and buckle, resulting in one-of-a-kind creations you're not going to find on everyone else.

April 03, 2006 : Work Sucks
Today, they're filming Law & Order right outside of BussBuss HQ. How very New York. But we realize not everyday at work is a film set, and not for everybody. Especially for our corporate-going brethren. Thank goodness BussBuss exists and gives you worthwhile work distractions, like where to score this 'Work Sucks. Spread the Word. Yo.' tank. The answer? Here. The T-Shirt Project will even entertain custom inquiries, so if you want that baby in red or pink or some other hue, ask away. Whatever color you choose, we highly recommend wearing yours under your suit at work, so you can flash it at the water cooler when things get rough. You may risk that cushy j-o-b of yours, but then you could finally start your real job of blogging like the rest of us. Still bored? Go Fug Yourself (after supporting our Haute Sponsors please, their generosity is what keeps BussBuss free, and we all lurve that).
