October 31, 2006 : Happy Halloween

Nothing could be more appropriate on this fine holiday than these absolutely adorable handmade spooky-cute plushies from Cuddly Rigor Mortis. We can't decide if we heart the pumpkin, bride or mummy the most, so maybe we'll adopt all three?
Find your faves right here at Cuddly Rigor Mortis and have a fabulously spooky Halloween!

October 30, 2006 : Anthro Obsession
|
We must admit we have a love/kinda-like relationship with Anthropologie. Sometimes we just can't get enough and others times it just feels like too much of the same (that unerring consistency being the reason for their success and appeal we know). Well, after getting their holiday catalog in the mail the other day, we are once again completely smitten. Filled with so many fabulous gifts, including monogrammed porcelain mugs, unbelievably adorable ornaments and stuffed toys, not to mention knit votives and candlesticks, we are in full-on lust mode.
Scope out the loot and find gifts for you and those you love right here at Anthropologie.

October 27, 2006 : Curious and Curiouser
|
We relate so much to Lauren Smith and Derek Fagerstrom, owners of the quirky-cool new online store the Curiosity Shoppe. They opened the Shoppe for the simple reason that they are obsessed with beautiful things that delight and inspire. We can get on board with that. It's a cool, eclectic and highly affordable roundup of goodies for you and your home, including lots of great gifts for those you love.
Some of our faves? The vintage-inspired aprons, beer bottle glassware, ceramic party cups, mushroom shelves, felt totes, Deadly Squire ties, nature-inspired jewelry, talking paintings (yes, talking!) and the list goes on. Find your faves right here at the Curiosity Shoppe.

October 26, 2006 : Feel Your Boobies
|
We must admit, as ladies under the age of 30, we don't exactly always tune in when we hear "self-breast exam." It sounds too clinical and doesn't seem to apply to us – yet. Which is exactly why we love Feel Your Boobies.
Started by Leigh Hurst, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the tender age of 33 (she found the lump herself while feeling her boobies), the goal is to create cool products (think cute tees, tanks belts, stationery, even baby onesies) to raise awareness and educate women, primarily those under 40, by creating a dialogue and getting people talking about breast cancer and self-breast exams.
We like the more upscale boobies couture line that includes limited edition items available now through the end of the year (they make great gifts). Plus, 25% of FYB's net proceeds will be donated to the Young Survival Coalition. So go on and do good by shopping Feel Your Boobies right here.

October 25, 2006 : Ode to Fred Flare
|
We've been hunting and sharing our favorite online shopping sites for more years than we care to admit (even though we wear Forever 21, we sadly can't claim to BE 21 anymore, ugh). And there are a few sites that we just adore, one of them being Fred Flare. They're all about having fun and being young at heart and we're always checking in to see what's new.
Right now, we love too much to list, but this sweet and quirky cake laptop sleeve does top the list. There's so much we want to nab for ourselves and so much that'll make cute holiday gifts too, like all of the books, the Napoleon Dynamite sleep mask, the Instant Fireplace DVD, not to mention all of the Marie Antoinette loot. Check it all out right here at Fred Flare.

October 24, 2006 : Wallpaper Cardigan
|
Living in a rental, any desire to wallpaper goes right out the window. Which is tough every time we pick up Domino magazine. Sigh. But luckily we can get our wallpaper fix in fashion form. The Wallpaper Ella Cardigan looks so girly but elegant and captures the whole modern baroque trend. It also feels very Marie Antoinette, which we're all about these days.
Scoop it up in red or black right here at Delias. Plus, on orders of $75+, get free shipping and $25 in Daisy Dollars when you use code DQSW25 at checkout. And if you're in need of bottoms to go with your fab new cardi, all denim jeans and pants are buy one get one half off, too.

October 20, 2006 : Lucky Dog Designs
|
When we first visited Lucky Dog Designs, we were expecting to find a bevy of goodies for our BFFs – well, our imaginary four-legged friends anyway. But we were just as happy and surprised to find an adorable baby boutique instead – two legs sometimes are as good as four after all.
Darling and funky prints grace diaper bags, toddler aprons, bibs, blankies and burp cloths, making it super easy for us to nab unique gifts for all the little ones in our lives. Plus, 20% of sales in October will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, so we can't resist spoiling the tots and doing good at the same time. If you can't resist either, shop Lucky Dog Designs right here.

October 19, 2006 : Unlock My Heart
|
We loved the whole key necklace trend, but lurve this keyhole necklace even more. It's much more unexpected, feminine yet edgy. Combining a brass keyhole with a faceted rose quartz, which is said to be a powerful element that not only attracts love and affection, but is also considered a powerful healing force, we love how the Hope necklace drapes artfully from its 18" 14k gold-fill chain.
Throughout the month of October, 50% of the proceeds of the Hope necklace will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Shop Juniper Designer right here and treat someone you love to this beautiful and sentimental treasure.

October 18, 2006 : Dear Monday
|
Continuing our quest for cool designers and shops donating a portion of proceeds to Breast Cancer Awareness, we found darling stationery site Dear Monday. We adore the individually hand-decorated and embellished cards that are at once simple and special. From festively chic holiday cards to girly glam birthday cards and any other occasion and non-occasion you can think of, there's something for everyone -- everyone with great taste that is -- at Dear Monday.
Plus, 20% of web sales in October will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Do good and do pretty at Dear Monday right here.

October 17, 2006 : Indie For Awareness
|
It's no secret how much we love the indie community and now we have even more reason to love them. A new group of 31 wonderful independent designers and shops has come together to form Indie for Awareness, a new annual campaign created to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer charities and research. Each shop has something different to offer and you can browse the entire list here. We'll be highlighting some of our favorite finds throughout the rest of the month. (Isn't it nice to know you can support breast cancer by buying items that aren't pink, too?)
First up is a shop we've been anxious to share the word on for a while: Versamae Luxe. The girly boutique features loads of great stuff by independent designers, including belts, bags and beauty products, to name a few. Versamae Luxe will donate 15% of all sales during the month of October to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Check them out and shop for a good cause right here at Versamae Luxe.

October 13, 2006 : Rusty Zipper
|
Today you can find us at the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show scooping up one-of-a-kind finds. But we started BussBuss so that those who didn't have access to great events like this could still shop their chic socks off – no matter where you lived and what your budget was, hence our obsession with online shopping (who doesn't love instant gratification after all?).
If you're into vintage as much as we are, here's one of our favorite spots to head to in cyberland: Rusty Zipper. We've scooped up lots of fave dresses here in the past (for less than $30 no less) and if you're the kind of girl who would hate to be seen wearing the same thing as someone else, then vintage is for you. Our faves are the dresses from the '60s and '70s (mod, hippie, disco!), but go on and hunt and discover your own favorites right here at Rusty Zipper. And with Halloween right around the corner, this is a great spot to find costume inspiration and essentials.

October 12, 2006 : Go For Baroque
|
Get in on the baroque trend without going broke yourself. This gorgeous Beloved by Sophie necklace has an irresistible vintage/found-treasure vibe -- like something you'd find in your grandma's jewelry box. We love the 2-inch jet crystal (though rose and topaz crystals are also available) and envision wearing this all autumn long.
Add an element of dark sophistication to your getup, and see all of the other Beloved by Sophie treasures, right here at The Succulent Wife.

October 11, 2006 : Wild Garden
|
A girl simply can't have too many tees, especially when they're as pretty as the ones at Wild Garden. We love the organic look and simple sophistication and are all aflutter over the new pale blue boatneck top with butterflies floating about. Wrap a cozy heather grey sweater on top and you're set for a beautiful day.
Scope out all of the pretty tees, and scarves and totes too, right here at Australia-based Wild Garden. All pieces are limited edition so you can almost be sure no one else will ever be stealing your style.

October 10, 2006 : Notepolish Paperie
|
We have a total style crush on new online shop Notepolish Paperie. They share our love for details, our desire to make the everyday special and more chic, and of course are as obsessed with paper as we are. In addition to the gorgeous invitations, announcements and stationery, we're particularly keen on the Coral & Bird Notebooks and the Retro Composition Books. Every girl should be able to jot down her to-do list, or hopes and dreams, in style. And the letterpressed Carbonated Coasters make us want to throw a shindig immediately. Afternoon mocktails anyone?
If you can't join us, join -- and shop -- Notepolish Paperie right here. And, get free shipping this month on orders of $25+ when you use code 'octsh' at checkout. Expires October 31, 2006.

October 09, 2006 : Columbus Day Deals
|
It's Columbus Day, and while we may not be out discovering new lands, we are discovering great deals. We hadn't popped in at Bluefly in awhile, but we're glad we finally did. They have a great selection of winter coats (the belted black Kenneth Cole is classic and sexy), and we love the high gloss of Kate Spade's chocolate patent leather bag.
Scope out all the goodies, and take an extra 15% off coats, jackets, denim and dresses, right here at Bluefly.

October 06, 2006 : Gifted Wrap
|
One of our absolute favorite parts of gift giving (and receiving) is the presentation. We go gaga for a good wrap, pretty bow and clever card. We can't help it – we're aesthetic addicts. But that's probably no surprise. What was a surprise – an extremely happy one – was coming across Whimsy Press. Known for their "kick-ass wrapping paper," these paper pimps have stolen our hearts with everything from dachshund-bedecked wrap to wrap featuring skulls, tattoos, sushi and more.
We're especially keen on the D.I.Y. Doodle Wrap where we can break out the crayons (or markers) and design our own one-of-a-kind masterpiece. With the holiday season just around the corner, this is one site you'll want to bookmark. Scope out the whimsical wrap, along with ribbon, stickers, notecards and notepads, right here at Whimsy Press.

October 05, 2006 : Balancing Act
|
When BussBuss is feeling a bit unbalanced and needs a little break, she heads over to the West Side Highway (Hudson River Park) for a stroll or a bike ride. And she's always surprised by and in awe of the brave souls at the trapeze school that's set up alongside the park. While envious of those flying high above the city, she full well knows she'll probably never be a swing kid herself.
But she can get into the spirit with one of these whimsical totes by Miele Fresca. A nice reminder that life should always include some fun and adventure, whether that means keeping your feet on the ground or your head in the clouds, you can pick up the darling bag right here.

October 04, 2006 : Boot-y Call
|
We've just returned from a trip to the Austrian countryside and these boots couldn't be more appropriate. Luckily, they'll also come in handy here in New York this autumn. Because we all know before the beautiful first blanket of winter snow comes pesky fall rain -- and even some sleet. Hard to imagine on a gorgeous sunny day like today, but forward-thinking stylistas know to always be prepared. Plus, the preppy equestrian style is irresistible.
Sport these with tucked-in denim and a crisp white button-down and you'll be ready to ride. Even if what you're riding is just the 6 train. Pick up your pair of wellies right here at J.Crew.

October 03, 2006 : Crown Jewel
|
It's no secret how much we heart the hoodies around here, but this is one we're royally loving. In goes-with-everything black and bedecked with gold crowns, the vibe is perfectly goth/chic, which is oh so haute for fall (don those layered black jewels my lovelies). We also think this would look really cool worn over a fabulously dressy dress -- unexpected urban glam.
Fancy it too? Score yours right here at Alloy.

October 01, 2006 : Bad to the Bone
|
We weren't in love with the skull trend for us so much (just because it seemed like everyone and her sister was rawking it), but we think it's hilarious and adorable for pooches. Remember, doggies like to look good too (or so we imagine). The Smilely Skull Tank makes us want to adopt a puppy – or 10 – but if you're lucky enough to already have one, or know someone who does, spoil that trendy pooch with this too-cute-for-words tank from trixie + peanut right here.
