Haute Shop of the Week: Sodafine
Erin Weckerle, owner of Sodafine and designer of Purldrop, helped put the underground DIY movement on the map. And she's been pioneering hip, handmade style ever since. Her artistic and fashion-forward taste is evident in the lines she carries: shoes by Chie Mihara and Rosa Mosa, dresses by She-Bible and Laurel Wells, recycled rings by Michelle Kendrick, bags by Ashley Watson and Valhalla, to name a few faves. Specializing in innovative and unique handmade clothing, bags, jewelry, shoes and cool gift items too (we love the 18-month planner), with a growing emphasis on eco-chic finds, Sodafine is one of Brooklyn's hippest boutiques. But a girl need not live in Brooklyn to take advantage of Erin's great eye. You can shop online right here at Sodafine. P.S. Sodafine loves BussBuss too and is offering 20% off through October 1, 2007. Simply enter BUSSBUSS20 in the comments section during checkout to receive the discount. |

Sweet Petaline
When it comes to home decor and fashion, we think it's best when your accessories are as unique as possible. They're those statement pieces that really show who you are and your personal style. Are you really a mass-produced poster kind of girl? We didn't think so. Which is why we're loving the new boutique Petaline. Selling a well-curated selection of handmade, one-of-a-kind home accessories, art, photography, jewelry, bags and clothing from Pacific Northwest artists, Petaline is a rare jewel -- a spot to find things that are actually made with heart. Can we be expected to resist pillows by Kristin Loffer Theiss? She freehand draws each one with her sewing machine, like an etch-a-sketch (re: sew amazing). Or Kate Endle's original collages (so sweet and so affordable). And, of course, we believe you should look as good as your home, which is why we're loving the gorgeous bags by Jamie Irene and Sabrina Love Handbags, as well as Suzabelle's statement trench coat and Keri D'Angelo's earrings. Find your own favorites, and save 20% with code BUSS20PETAL at checkout through September 30, 2007, at Petaline. |

Have Your Cake
We believe having your head in the clouds beats having your feet on the ground any day. And that shopping for presents should be a piece of cake. And that you can have your cake and eat it too, five times a day. Which is why we love these young-at-heart designs from Australia-based Tabitha Emma. Have a friend's birthday coming up and want to present her with something sweet? There's nothing wrong with being literal. These mini cupcake, ice cream and cake bags are simply fun and they make great gifts themselves. Or, you can get clever and put something (perhaps a bauble or two) inside and use the bags as, well, gift bags. Sweet. Scope out the delicious lot, and be sure to browse the lovely clothing and illustrations too, here at Tabitha Emma on Etsy. |

Mad for Mohop
Louboutins? So last season. Also so mass fashionista. Searching for something truly one of a kind, under the radar, comfy and much more affordable, especially when you realize how many pairs of shoes you get in just one? Look no further than Mohop. Custom-made by designer Annie Mohaupt in her Chicago studio, Mohop is that rare experience where fabulous customer service, fabulous packaging and fabulous product create an online shopping trifecta. Composed of rubber soling made from recycled tires (very eco-chic), a Finnish birch plywood core, and topped with various select veneers, what really makes Mohop shoes unique is the patent-pending strapping system, where you can customize your shoes by changing the ribbons that tie the shoes on (it's super easy and fun!). How does it work? Once at Mohop, select your heel height. Then choose your fave base style. Next, find your exact size by printing out a paper cutout (so much more fun than checking Perez for the latest H'wood scoop -- trust us). Then, select the ribbons you want. Different lengths and styles of ribbons can be used to achieve a virtually infinite number of looks with just one pair of wooden bottoms (we heart versatility). As Annie says: "Now anybody can play Imelda Marcos without requiring the budget and storage space for 5,000 shoes." Before checking out, be sure to use coupon code BUSSMO25 for a lovely 25% off exclusively for BussBuss readers (expires September 30, 2007 so do not delay). Prepare to fall in love at Mohop. |

BussBuss Hearts: decor8
Let's face it, there are a lot of design blogs out there. But there aren't many with as much heart or warmth as Holly Becker's decor8. Holly's mix of professional interior design experience and simple unabashed love of style makes decor8 a daily must-read for us. And her honesty keeps us coming back for more. For instance, Holly readily admits she loves Rachel Ashwell as much as she does Kelly Wearstler or Jonathan Adler (you won't find many in design admitting that these days). It's this unique mix and accessible approach to design that makes decor8 irresistible. It's also what lets us know her home and the spaces she's designed must ooze with warmth, color and fabulousness. Featuring finds from sofas to stationery, decor8 also serves up loads of pretty pictures, affordable art finds from Etsy, inspiring decorating ideas, interviews, city shopping guides (so handy for the jet settera) and answers design questions and dilemmas from readers, too. Be inspired every day right here at decor8. |

Haute Shop of the Week: Kim&Maki
The beauty of fashion and online shopping is that there's always something new to discover. But sometimes a girl feels like she's seen it all. Especially when it comes to jewelry. Which is why we were happily, and admittedly surprisingly, wowed by the newest and coolest jewelry boutique on the block, Kim&Maki. Carrying lots of up-and-coming jewelry designers from Paris to Tokyo to New York and everywhere in between, it's a new eye-candyland and we're ready to play. We especially love the tough-luxe vibe of Orner and also fell for Marjorie Victor's organic and artistic pieces, as well as the vintage-inspired jewelry by Medecine Douce and the crafty-cool of Mur. Discover your fave designers and pieces, including rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches and hairpins, here at Kim&Maki. P.S. Kim&Maki loves us too and is giving BussBuss readers an exclusive 30% off with code BUSSKM30 at checkout through September 24, 2007. |

For those obsessing about making their homes sweet homes prettier, look no further than Brocade Home, Restoration Hardware's much more feminine little sister shop that launched last fall. Fusing an Anthropologie meets Paris aesthetic (re: totally romantic, flirty and chic), girly girls will go gaga for the perfume bottle chenille rugs, petite chandeliers, lattice-flocked wallpaper, ruffle-edge mirrors, lace-cut headboards, tufted ottomans, velvet sofas and attainable affluence. Browse the new fall collection and prepare to swoon here at Brocade Home. p.s. First time shoppers enjoy 15% off with code XBHINTRO at checkout.

Ode to Amazon Prime
We obviously love independent designers and cottage industry. But we also love that big online players are doing amazing things, too. Case in point, Amazon. Ever been in a gift-giving pickle? Like, you procrastinated yet again and your sister's birthday is in two days and you must send something stat? And preferably something she actually wants. But you don't want the shipping to cost more than the actual gift? Yeah, happens to us all the time, too. But not lately. Why? We finally signed up for the wonder that is Amazon Prime, a membership program that gives you "all-you-can-eat" fast shipping for eligible purchases. For an annual membership fee of $79 (think of it like being a Costco member, but not having to deal with lines or traffic), you get free two-day shipping on more than a million in-stock products sold by Amazon (books, digital cameras, Frye boots, Alexis Hudson bags, diamonds). Or, for just $3.99 per item, have it overnighted. This has saved our tooshies on more than one occasion when it comes to gifts, but it's also great when you don't have time to run to the store (did you know you can buy toothpaste and toilet paper on Amazon?) or there's something slightly embarrassing you need to buy (um, beauty catastrophes anyone?) Try it free for a month here at Amazon Prime.

Introducing ideeli
If you love luxury designer goods, sales and giveaways, you're going to go gaga for new shopping site ideeli. ideeli is a private shopping community (re: members only) where you can score high-end designer handbags, hats and sunglasses for 60 to 90% off their original price -- plus win giveaways every week. BussBuss Hearts: The Fashionista Diaries
When we're not shopping online, flipping through glossies, sleeping or trying to find a cure for the common cold, chances are we're watching The Fashionista Diaries, which premiered on SOAPnet on August 1. Filmed in New York, the cameras follow six hungry twentysomething interns as they try to make it in the frenzied world that is fashion, beauty, PR and magazine publishing: two interns work at Flirt! Cosmetics, two at Seventh House PR and two at Jane magazine (may it rest in peace). While it's about as 'real' as The Hills (another show we heart), it's still fun watching while we wait for Project Runway to come back on the air. Some of the 'characters' are refreshingly delightful, while some are downright detestable. Which, let's face it, is half the fun. How do spoiled socialites mix with girls from, scoff, Queens? Can a guy make it at Jane (or Cosmogirl!)? Is beauty really that easy and boh-ring? Find out Wednesdays at 9PM EST/PT, 8PM Central, or watch full episodes here on SOAPnet. |

Haute Shop of the Week: Intuition
Those who have picked up even just one copy of US Weekly over the past three years are well aware that celebrities love shopping at Intuition. But a girl need not live in the 90210 or be a recovering anything to shop at the fun and trendy boutique. Intuition, run by the sweet, lovely and very smart Jaye Hersh, was started as a way to pay for her children's tuition (hence the name -- see, clever). Mission accomplished, but we're reaping the rewards too. Where else can you find trendy up-and-coming brands and designers like Primp, the latest Frye boots, Dittos denim, cheeky t-shirts and gifts for your mom and BFF, too? No wonder it's described as a general store for fashionistas. The best part? Shopping Intuition online means no paparazzi (whew!), so you can leave those oversized shades in your pretty little bag where they belong. Shop the latest must-haves and feel like the style star you are here at Intuition. P.S. Intuition loves BussBuss too and is offering an exclusive 20% off with code BUSSLOVESUS at checkout through September 17, 2007. |

The Gold Standard
While we like to share trends, we certainly don't believe you should be a slave to them and we're not usually ones for fashion dictates. But there are two style philosophies that we do believe in wholeheartedly. One, details make all the difference. And two, you should only buy what you love. It's rewarding to look around your home and see pieces that make you smile, and there are easy ways to transform okay things into oh-yay things, such as with new handles, pulls and knobs. On a recent stroll through Anthropologie's virtual halls, we struck gold, which we've been craving lately (particularly paired with glossy white, bone or shell -- it's just so cheery-chic). And we found lots on sale. Even better. From new hardware to paperweights and frames, give your dresser, door or desk a makeover with a quick update or two here at Anthropologie. |

The Fabulous Diaries
It's no surprise we like the good life and we love quirky and honest-to-a-fault designer Pamela Barsky (have you read her blog -- a tale of making it as a gift designer in LA, overcoming divorce and more?). Her products have as much personality as she does and are as entertaining as she is, so it only makes sense that she's responsible for these fabulous entertaining journals. They'll help you keep track of all your social events, from sharing a bottle of vino with friends to finally getting a table at the hottest restaurant in New York. Choose from the Dinner Party Journal, the Restaurant Journal, the Wine Lover's Journal or the Recipes Journal to help keep track of your fabulous life. Better yet, be fabu-less and get these for 50% off right here at See Jane Work. |

Presenting the New Laurel Denise
We love makeovers and we love Laurel Denise, so it's only fitting that we're extra excited about the new look, blog and designs at Laurel Denise. Queen of exquisitely pretty and cool hand-written and hand-drawn personalized jewelry (that also happens to be wildly affordable), Laurel has added earrings and new necklace shapes and designs to her mix, as well as a brand new line of stationery the whole paper and gift community is abuzz over (or at least they're about to be). It just makes sense to be able to get her lovely drawings in paper form: think birthday, greeting and notecards, journals, and soon, a calendar. As Laurel says, "All pieces are inspired by vintage papers (or "found" papers)...old financial ledgers (hence, the graph paper) old library cataloging cards...just about anything that I feel has a story behind it." Shop the latest and create a story of your own here at Laurel Denise. P.S. Laurel Denise loves BussBuss too and is offering an exclusive 15% off with code BUSSFRIEND through August 31, 2007. |

Haute Shop of the Week: The Spoon Sisters
The Spoon Sisters is perhaps our favorite gift shop of all time. Selling many of our fave products, style solutions and innovations, such as the Purseket, the Doorganizer, GalPals, Egglings, the Message Bean, Thumb Thing, the Takeout Menu Organizer, the DaysAgo Digital Counter, the Rear-View Computer Mirror, the Foot Petals Stiletto Kit, ABC Gingerbread Cookie Cutters and just about every clever product you've ever wanted for yourself or your loved ones, The Spoon Sisters is more a celebration of innovation and cottage industry than it is about selling products. Fortunately, The Spoon Sisters love BussBuss just as much as we adore them and are offering an exclusive 20% off to BussBuss readers with code bussbuss at checkout through August 20, 2007. So stock up on Christmas, baby, hostess and birthday gifts (um, for yourself of course), and save here at The Spoon Sisters. P.S. We'd like to send a huge thank you to everyone who has taken our Summer Survey. If we learned one thing so far, it's that you want more coupon codes and unique finds (see above) and we're working hard to keep them coming! Haven't taken it yet? Don't be shy. Martha, Martha, Martha
Today begins Macy's Semi-Annual Home Sale, where you can nab 10-50% off things for your home sweet home through August 16, plus free shipping on orders over $125. But what we're most excited about is Martha Stewart's new collection that recently launched at Macy's. The domestic diva serves up her signature classic, clean style in everything from champagne and martini glasses to faux bois towels to bedding and rugs. We were contemplating one of the rugs a few weeks ago, but the steep price tag did not have us at hello. Giddily, with the sale in progress, the rug we love is now over $1000 off. Scope out the entire home sale (and be sure to appropriately marvel at Martha's collection) here at Macy's. p.s. Another Macy's sale is in progress -- The Hot One Sale. Starting today through August 12, nab 20-50% off shoes, clothing, bags and jewelry.

Fall Shoe La Love
Grommets and studs. Jewel tones. Grey is the new black. Patents and metallics continue to shine. These are just a few of the trends that are hot for fall. And you can get in on the trends with just your shoes alone. We're loving nearly everything Nine West is dishing out this season. They may not be coveted Manolos or Louboutins, but we also won't be weeping when we get caught in the rain or scuff them on the city pavement. Sizzle in some fatty t-straps this fall or prance about town like the gamine you are in embellished flats. Get right with jewel tones (so romantic and chic) or toughen up with grommet-adorned flats. And don’t forget to have a grey day (the new neutral for fall). Spy your next pair here at Nine West. |

BussBuss Hearts: Splash Style
We all have our dirty little secrets: Perez in the afternoon, milkshakes at midnight, flossing only the night before your next dentist appointment. Our latest, worth sharing, is Splash Style. We're extra excited about this because it's one of those ideas we actually came up with ourselves, though we envisioned it for TV. Like what a celebrity is wearing? Click on it and shop instantly. It's still the future of television, we're just a few years off. Or maybe less now. Splash News, a celebrity news and picture agency, lets you click on anything in one of their videos or pictures and purchase it in a click (all hail instant gratification). Full disclaimer: These are ads (i.e. companies pay to be linked to and it's not always the exact item, it's more like the 'look for less' -- even better, really). For instance, wanna nab Angelina's dress? Just click it. Unfortunately, they haven't yet figured out how to put up Brad Pitt for sale. But it's still fun to click on him nonetheless. Wanna dress like fashionistas Chloe Sevigny, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Rachel Bilson or Mischa Barton? Perhaps jailbird-chic is more your thing? Click and shop Lindsay, Paris or Nicole's style. Find pics and videos of everyone from Cameron, Reese, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston and Katie Holmes to Fergie, Penelope, Eva Longoria and Mendes and anyone in between right here at Splash Style. |

Haute Shop of the Week: Zappos
We loved the original Zappos, the shoe site that also sold some handbags and became popular for their fab shipping and return policy: free shipping and free return shipping for 365 days. But now we're over the moon. Why? Zappos now sells clothing too, including swimsuits. And yes, that same shipping and return policy applies. In fact, they now offer free overnight shipping on everything (seriously). You know how we feel about instant gratification and it doesn't get more instant in the world of online shopping than free overnight shipping. But we're most grateful that we never again have to face those horrid dressing room lights. There is a shopping god. We're also loving Zappos Couture, which offers higher-end bags, shoes, accessories and clothing from Goldenbleu, Hollywould, Kate Spade, Cole Haan, Marc Jacobs, Sigerson Morrison, Costume National y muchas mas. Indulge in free overnight shipping, and the fabulousness that is the future of online shopping, right here at Zappos. |

Vandalized Vintage
Warning: Immature Content We're all about the art of the unexpected, which is why when we came across New Zealand-based Trixie Delicious, we were instantly smitten. Tea and china are always so proper and stuffy, but not when Karen Dennis of Trixie Delicious gets her naughty little hands in the mix. Her vandalized vintage plates mix the soft and pretty with the edgy and cheeky. The Upper East Side with the Lower East Side. Think Shabby Chic meets Sarah Silverman. Rachel Ashwell would be quite surprised indeed. Giving new life to old dishes (oh so very green), imagine your guests' reactions when you serve tea on the Seven Deadly Sins -- or Poisons -- plates. Or, when you use your new plate as decor -- we heart the Clueless plate, but get a kick out of the Starf*cker one as well. Trixie also does custom work on plates, shakers and teapots, so feel free to choose your own word(s). Get a little naughty and give the gift of the unexpected (so fab for your hip friends having an untradish wedding) at Trixie Delicious. |
