September 27, 2007 : Art Schmart
|
A recent visit to the SFMOMA had us proclaiming it should be renamed the SFMOMBS. We'll let you guess what the BS stands for.
Don't get us wrong -- we love art (after all, we are huge supporters of up-and-coming artists and designers). We just find it highly comical when blank canvases are revered by the art world. Context, we know. But seriously.
SFMOMBS aside, even when we do find art we love, we don't often have spare thousands to purchase it.
But, luckily, thanks to the genius of New York gallery girl Jen Bekman, we don't need it. Her newest project 20x200 lets art lovers with tween budgets get in on the fun, by offering prints in editions of 200 at just $20 each. Really.
So, whether you're an art snob or an art virgin, you're sure to find something you'll love {and can buy} at 20x200.
P.S. We found out about 20x200 via the blog of amazing young photographer Youngna Park, who snapped BussBuss girl Kelly Lee's photo a few years ago -- we've been girl-crushing ever since. You can purchase a print of her work at 20x200.

September 24, 2007 : Chic Thrill ** Cheap Thrill
|
Our eyeballs usually glaze over fashion ads in glossies, but the Miu Miu Vernice Pop Pump kept popping up on pretty pages everywhere and we couldn't deny its oh-la-lust appeal.
Seriously glossy patent. Deelish candy colors. What's not to love? The $525 pah-rice tag, that's what. Which is why we appreciate a cheap-chic alternative.
Nab the original, style lover, or opt for a cheap thrill in our newest feature: Chic Thrill ** Cheap Thrill. Whatever pretty poison you pick, expect oodles of compliments this autumn.

September 19, 2007 : Ring in the Season
|
We love our diamonds as much as the next girl, but lately we've been craving statement rings. From glammy to preppy, we want these beauties taking up residence in our jewelry box.
We're especially loving Yarborough Jewelry's horse head button ring (less Godfather, more polo in the Hamptons) and the small metal crest button ring (preppy is so irresistible this fall).
Giles & Brother had us at hello with their nail head ring in purple (who doesn't love a big stud?).
Finally, we're also up for testing our animal instincts with Kenneth Jay Lane's ladybug ring and upping our glam quotient with his dome ring (plus, it's on sale).
Find them all, and get free shipping, at Shopbop.

p.s. Shopbop is having a huge sale -- up to 70% off designer goodies, like Rachel Pally, Rebecca Taylor, Ella Moss, James Perse, C&C California, Vince, Velvet and more. Fab finds are going fast, so hurry and stock up!

Which is why we adore these cheeky coin purses emblazoned with: trust fund, inheritance, nest egg, lunch money, mad money, allowance and rainy day fund.
Witty and stylish, these glam little bags make a perfect gift for celebrating birthdays, graduations, promotions and housewarmings (tuck a few bills inside or perhaps some baubles for extra brownie points).

September 10, 2007 : Fall Fashion Guide: Yellow Pops
|
Yellow made a surprising yet satisfying appearance on the runways, appearing on everything from tops to dresses and jackets. The jaunty hue added a perfect splash of color and mod cheer to a dark, moody fall color palette and felt so fresh and spot-on for the season.
Some designers referred to it as saffron, sunflower yellow, gold or even citron, but regardless of what you call it, be sure to buy something in the yellow family this fall.
Not comfortable in head-to-toe yellow? Sport it in small doses via a fab pair of shoes or a statement bag.
