February 27, 2008 : Old Is The New Black: Get Your Octogenarian Chic On
|
We love that wacky Pat Field. Yes, the visionary mastermind behind Sex and the City. Can't wait to see what looks she rocks out for SATC: The Movie.
We're sure it will be tackerrific.
Until then, we'll bide our time browsing her online boutique.
Remember how she put the fab in ghetto fabulous? Well, now wethinks she's putting the glam in Golden Girls glamour.
Aren't these sequin visors tres Miami retiree chic? Which so fits our lifestyle as of late.
Long strolls along the marina? Check. Tennis in the afternoon? Check. Early bird special? Well, not so much.
Regardless, we're embracing our inner blinged-out Betty White with sequined fanny packs, visors and this Legendary necklace by Noir.
Because, we're sure, at the very least, that's what this look will be.
Become legendary here.

February 26, 2008 : RX: Go Fug Yourself
|
Lately BussBuss has been battling nastyitis. We've been starving our persnickety colds and feeding our Nutella-binge-eating-inducing fevers, but no matter what we do, at times we're so delirious we feel like the disastrous result of Unfitney Spears mating with old skool Snoop Dogg. Which is to say, not good and not of sound mind.
And while, in general, we aim to be positively chic (emphasis on the positive), sometimes it really makes a sick girl feel better to know that other peeps have probs, too (sick, we know).
Which is why we highly recommend the new book The Fug Awards by the snarky masterminds behind GoFugYourself.com.
If you're not familiar with their addictive blog, which pokes fun at what celebutards wear, imagine the love children of Joan Rivers and Cojo and you have the Fug Girls, Heather Cocks (no, we didn't make that name up) and Jessica Morgan.
We've got some Nutella to finish off, so will just say this: We read the book yesterday and things are looking much brighter today.
Take a peek at GoFugYourself.com.

February 22, 2008 : Exclusive Invite: Designer Sample Sales From Your Sofa
|
Anyone who's lucky enough to live in New York knows it's a love/hate relationship.
Love that you can always find a cab. Hate that there's always traffic. Love that you can walk to anything you can imagine at any time. Hate that it's so dirty.
Love that you have access to so many great sample sales. Hate that you're not the only one.
Fuggetabout the long lines, pushy crowds and lack of any dressing rooms and join Gilt Groupe instead.
Featuring luxury and up-and-coming brands like Zac Posen, Rachel Roy, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, Hollywould and Badgley Mischka to namedrop a few (love), each sale features one designer at a time and lasts just one day.
The best part? No New York zip code is required (love).
The catch? Gilt Groupe is for members only (hate).
Not to worry. As always, BussBuss has your stylish back. We've snagged exclusive invitations for our fabulous subscribers (love love).
Get your VIP membership here.

February 21, 2008 : Spring Must-Haves Under $40: Spring Scarves
|
Recently on Oprah, style expert Lloyd Boston shared the wardrobe essentials he believes every woman should have in her closet. One we couldn't agree on more? Scarves. Spring scarves to be exact.
Unlike their bulkier winter counterparts, spring scarves are lightweight, breezy and make you look always pulled together in that Parisian-chic way. The great part is you don't have to spend a lot to look fabulous.
Take a peek at our faves, all for less than $40.

February 20, 2008 : Out of Africa: Up to 70% Off at Active Endeavors
|
We were ultra bummed to find out that going on safari in Africa actually meant having to camp for several days.
Our Hollywoodized version had us fantasizing that we could lounge at some luxe hotel, grab a jeep tour through the wild one afternoon to spot lions and elephants and giraffes (oh my) and be back to the hotel in time for happy hour.
In an effort to bounce back from this great disappointment while still holding on to our love of adventure and all things global, we've decided to shop the Active Endeavors sale instead.
Why?
Because there we've hunted down worldly print dresses and looks and we didn't have to camp or glamp to get them. Plus, they're up to 70% off and one of this spring's hottest trends.
We plan to toss on our new exotic-looking dress and head to the zoo instead for a walk on the wild side.
Because we're sometimes down, but never out.

February 19, 2008 : 101 Things to Do Before You're Old and Boring & My Friends are Prettier than Yours
February 15, 2008 : Urban Explorer
|
If you're digging the new spring safari-chic trend, which we're loving because we're nostalgic for Indiana Jones, then you'll love the new Urban Explorer collection at Old Navy.
It feels much more Diane von Furstenberg than Generica America (whew!) and makes us want to book a trip to some hot desert locale stat. Palm Springs, anyone?
Fortunately, since everything is so affordable ($20 and under for most pieces) we'll have enough moola left over so we might just start packing our bags.

February 14, 2008 : Those Four Little Words
|
Let's just be friends.
Way more complex than those three little words (I love you), those four little words have the ability to mean so much more.
Does the speaker of those words really mean it (i.e. should you stop stalking them)?
Or, are they just testing you (i.e. it's time to prove how much you really love them)?
Here in BussBussland, those four little words equaled one big happy marriage eight years later. We're suckers for the l-o-v-e.
Whatever your story, we love this Ryan Jacob Smith print found via one of our beloved morning routines, sfgirlbybay.
Going from a state of friendship to the state of matrimony via six states in eight years, how could we not?
Happy Valentine's Day, lovers. And, remember to expect the unexpected. That's what makes life fun.

February 13, 2008 : Love Notes
|
The lovely folks working behind the curtain at Kate Spade have teamed up with some of our favorite designers and artists like Lena Corwin and Paulina Reyes to create the cutest handmade e-valentines that you can send to those you love.
All the cards are free to send and you don't have to register or anything -- so fun!
We love their trademark nostalgic, clever and quirky aesthetic and are so excited to send a little charm to those we're thinking about this Valentine's Day.
Give love!

February 01, 2008 : Go Big Or Go Home: SATC Style In Bloom
|
With our latest obsession Gossip Girl in reruns, we've had a lot more time to invest in obsessing over Sex and the City: The Movie, spring fashion and Valentine's Day (prepare for the most adorable, most fabulous Valentine's Day Gift Guide ever next week -- humbleness is so 2007 apparently).
But back to the present.
What theme do all three of our current obsessions have in common?
Florals, of course.
Carrie's rocking them again, larger and more in charger than ever, in SATC: The Movie. Flowers bloomed all over the spring 2008 runways. And Valentine's Day is not just about unrealistically high expectations and binging on chocolate, but about overpaying for flowers, too.
We say skip the roses on V-day this year and treat yourself to this darling corsage sweater jacket instead.
These flowers will never wilt and there's an adorable bow in the back, ruffles and a scalloped edge. Presh.
Take a peek.
