Head Case: Gossip Girl Style for Less Than $5!
The big accessory trend we can't get enough of gracing the heads of the fictional Upper East Siders of our fave guilty pleasure, Gossip Girl? Girly and gorgeous headbands, of course. But in this economy, with no trust fund to speak of, we can't exactly throw down $500 for those glam Jennifer Behr headbands Blair's been sporting as of late. No matter. For less than $5, we can get the look for way less. Where? At our other fave guilty pleasure, Forever 21.

The Secret Revealed: The Easiest Dress to Wear
We can think of no easier dress to wear than the babydoll. The ever-forgiving exaggerated A-line keeps the size of your hips and backside a mystery and no waistline means you can eat whatever the hizzy you want without worrying about post-dinner bulge. Plus, who doesn't love to spin around and feel girly? Answer: Many of you apparently (which saddens us to no end, we'll have you know). Which is why we think this babydoll is perfect for just about everyone. It's embellishment-free and super simple, keeping it sophisticated, versatile and infinitely flattering to just about every body type we can imagine. Plus, it even has a built-in bralette to keep the girls in check. And it just happens to be a mayjor steal at just $29 (originally $49). It comes in a rainbow of colors, too, though to keep it on the more sophisticated and easy-to-wear side, we'd totally recommend it in chocolate, black or ink blot. Wear it now with sandals and flats and when the autumn weather rolls around, pair it with tights, a cropped cardi and your best booties. Where to get yours? Hint: It's a Secret.

On the Abbey Road Again: Must-Have Accessory for Under $10
You're a girl on the go. A jetsetter. A super mom. A socialista with a cocktail in one hand and a cupcake in the other. In short, you need both of your perfectly imperfectly manicured hands. And you need things that are versatile. Which is why we think this leatha bag is brilliant. It works for you, instead of against you (like all of those super-heavy overpriced designer "It" bags that only cause you years of back pain -- not chic!). The adjustable strap can be worn across the body, on the shoulder or at the waist as a belt, which we love for traveling when we wanna look more like the original boho Sienna Miller and less like a fannypack-toting tourist. There's enough room for all the essentials, plus a little left over too. And, best of all, it's marked down from $68 to less than $10, so you'll have plenty of change leftover for more on-the-go pursuits. Where to snag it? |

Skinny Mini: Look 10 lbs. Lighter Without Spanx or Rachel Zoe!
Sometimes we've had one too many cupcake and French 75 and need all the help we can get in the looking thinner department without actually eating less or hitting up the Bar Method. That sometime is now. Which is why we love this sporty/sexy dress. The brilliant colorblocking makes you look 10 cupcakes lighter than you actually are (check out that faux nipped waist!) and it couldn't be comfier or easier to wear -- simply pair with leggings and you're out the door. Available in navy and purple or black and grey for less than $30. Leaving plenty leftover for that extra cupcake --- or three. |

Take a Bow: Fab Dress for Under $55
With a lot of people's wallets in a pinch these days, you may not have hundreds of dollars to spend on dresses for all of the upcoming fabulous fall and winter soirees you have to attend: your friend's wedding, your foe's annual holiday party, your Project Runway season finale shindig. Which is why over the next few weeks we'll be bringing you lots of amazing affordable finds and special steals and deals, with the focus still on the fab. Because remember, luxury isn't about price, it's about freedom (freedom from financial worry, freedom from debt, freedom from worrying if your butt looks big in this dress -- hint: it doesn't!). Our first find? This darling bow dress that fits the bill for all of the above soirees. It's cheeky and chic and totally something Carrie Bradshaw, Lauren Conrad and any of our fave Gossip Girls would be caught flitting around in with champagne glass in hand. Best of all, it comes in black and light pink, so you can go sophisticated or saccharine sweet like cotton candy and still look like a million bucks for less than $55. Where to snatch it up? P.S. Get free shipping on ANY dELiA*s order with code DWLSHIP through September 24, 2008! |

Purple Reign: Shoes to DIE For
Back from our trendspotting trip across Asia, we're playing total TiVo catch-up. Which means we're finally caught up on the Rachel Zoe Project. Have you been watching? Do you DIE? Either way, it got us to thinking shoes, shoes, shoes, which naturally led us to Piperlime, the shoe site Zoe lends her eye and expertise to as a guest editor. Which led us to these super fabulous snake-print pumps. We DIE! Why? They combine so many of our loves: snake print, patent leather, peep-toes, free shipping and free returns and the accent color du jour, purple. We heart the sexy deep purple because they'll go with just about anything (they're basically like black, but far from basic), but a light moss hue is up for grabs, too. Do you DIE? If so, click here. |

Shop the New Topshop US Site!
The only thing that could be better than Topshop now having a US site would be H&M finally having an online shop. Seeing as that isn't in the fashion cards anytime soon, let's get back to celebrating Topshop's brilliant decision to have a dedicated US site. No longer do we have to fight the crowds on the high street or finagle our way through British to American size or money conversions. Now we can purchase the coveted collections, like Kate Moss for Topshop, with the same ease as shopping other fave online shops, like, say, Shopbop. Dyslexia aside, click fast, as with all things Kate Moss related, these items will sell out fast. |

Tokyo Trend Watch: Say Hi to Thigh Highs
Legwear has been the accessory du jour the past few years here in the States, but on our recent trendspotting visit to Japan, it was in overdrive. Which means dressing up your gams is only going to become more and more de rigueur stateside. What the ladies of Tokyo are rocking these days? Thigh-high socks and leggings -- think schoolgirl meets Pretty Woman. While we're still not quite ready to rock the straight-up Pretty Woman look ourselves (black thigh-highs) and wouldn't exactly recommend this look for the office, we are quite smitten with the idea of slipping into a preppier more Gossip Girl version a la these Hansel From Basel kneepad socks. Ready to step outside of your box? Head to Revolve Clothing. p.s. Revolve has teamed up with Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman (the new Pat Field some might say, which makes sense as he used to assist her on Sex and the City). Check out all the looks he's preppified in the Revolve Fall 2008 Style Guide! |

We Heart NY For Like Ever
Right now we're in Tokyo via Phuket and Hong Kong, living in San Francisco, but our hearts will always belong to New York City. From the biggest landmarks (Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty) to the smallest, cherished moments (getting married in Central Park on a block of ice at dusk in February, sipping milkshakes in Madison Square Park, biking along the West Side Drive) to the most unbelievable moments (being in line next to Tim Gunn at Fashion Week, fireworks showering us on countless random occasions, having the heaters go out at our winter wedding reception and cuddling on BEDs with hot chocolate in hand to keep warm with our nearest and dearest), New York had us at hello. To commemorate our love affair with New York, we'll be snatching up this New York Love gocco print by Megan Nolton of Art Shark Designs. To show a little love to New York yourself, click here. Want to share your own favorite New York moments? Get nostalgic with us here. |

Trunk Show: Elephant Art Auction & Fashion Show!
After spending the past few days in the paradise that is Phuket, we have elephants on the brain. Elephants and Fashion Week that is, as we're missing New York Fashion Week as we type. We've always had a penchant for pachyderm, but are more in love with the gentle giants than ever. So we're super sad to find out just how endangered they are. To combine our love of elephants with our passion for up-and-coming artists, we're totally going to purchase some elephant art. You heard that right. The Asian Elephant Art & Conservation Project is an amazing organization that protects the dwindling Asian elephant population by providing elephants with a way to earn livings as artists. The works tend to fall in the abstract modern art category, but Hong's literal paintings of elephants holding flowers are very popular. To purchase a painting, learn more and watch a video of an elephant painting, click here. If you're lucky enough to be in New York City on October 17, click here to find out about The Trunk Show, a runway show and auction featuring garments made from eco-friendly fabric and locally produced silk that has been painted on by some very talented elephants and then made into covetable creations by designers like Stewart + Brown, Ports 1961, Rory Beca and more. Watch out Project Runway! |

Dress to Thrill for Under $100 at Pixie Market

Finding the new, the unique and the affordable is something we've spent years trying to master. So we were thrilled to stumble upon Pixie Market, a fabulous shop who has successfully managed to do just that. Serving up indie, up-and-coming designers from around the world -- those so new that they barely have MySpace pages, we're loving the bold, graphic tops and dresses, soon-to-be signature accessories and overall infectious vibrant spirit. While not everything is wallet-friendly (see the to-die-for Richard Ruiz cape), there are several pieces under $100 we can't wait to make ours, like the Rojas racer-back grid top and Daydream Nation jewelry.
