She Wears Short Shorts
Gone are the days of Daisy Dukes. (Short=good. Tight=good. Both=only for Cindy Crawford in '90s Pepsi commercials. If you look the same, by all means, proceed.) Now are the days of, wait for it, culottes. While it may seem like your childhood days are making a comeback , we like to think of these loose, flowy shorts as a smart alternative to skirts, minus the possibility of flashing the world all you've got (yes, we're talking to you, Britney). Perhaps it was Haven on The Fashion Show wearing and making all of those cute shorts, but we're really loving the look and these printed silk culottes are even more darling paired with sheer tights. Gam it up in yellow or grey here.

May the Jewels Be With You: J.Crew Releases Its Fall Glam-Aunt Collection
J.Crew has just unleashed its new fall collection and while we love the clothing and the shoes (oh, the shoes), we are gaga over the jewels. With a fab '60s sensibility, but with modern updating, the Mad Men-ready pieces will take any look from ho-hum to so glam. Hand-cut glass stones in muted hues like dusty blossom and soft pumpkin are more sophisticated-glitzy than flashy and blingy. Perfect for now -- and for later.

Get a Piece of Anna: The Fashion Show Winner's Final Collection
If you loved Anna's winning final collection from The Fashion Show and were rooting for her to win so you could scoop up some of the looks, you'll be pleased as spiked punch that you can now nab the pieces online (place your order now -- longingly wait until October 30 for it to ship). We heart the pink frock with horizontal knife pleats and will feel like LA Dream Barbie wearing it. We're also style-crushing on the babydoll midnight blue petal dress -- perf for when we feel like playing New York Dream Barbie. We're also not surprised to discover that Anna used to be head clothing designer for one of our favorite labels, Dolce Vita. Downtown girls with uptown leanings? Yes we are. You too? |

Just Say Yes...To Carrots? Plus, Style On the Road With Kelly
At Shecky's Girls Night Out a few weeks ago, we scored some samples of Yes To Carrots Body Butter in our goody bags. If you've been reading BussBuss for any length of time, you may have noticed that we don't write about beauty products that often. That's mostly because most fail to impress and don't live up to their promises. So imagine how much we really love this product to actually be effusing about it here. Dry skin from San Francisco's blustery "summer" got you down (no, we're not bitter)? Or, perhaps it's too much time in the sun (lucky beeyotch) that's zapped your delicate skin into lizard-level territory? Turn that Botox-free frown upside down. Yes To Carrots is full of beta-carotene, known for its anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties, as well as Dead Sea Mud (yummy). It's paraben-free too, which basically means no harmful chemicals will be seeping into your skin. We love it simply because it makes our skin instantly soft and glowy. What more could a girl ask for (other than a chateau in the south of France and calorie-free cupcakes)? Best of all, even though it looks and feels like a much more expensive product, you can nab a nice big tubby tub tub of it for less than $13. See, Mom was right: Carrots are good for you.

Kelly's Klicks: Fake It 'Til You Make It? I'm Gilty!
Greetings gorgeous dolls. Anna Anna Fo Fanna Girdles for Guys You Don't Have to Be a Rockefeller to Collect Art YSL Documentary - The Look Katie Holmes on So You Think You Can Con, er, Dance The biggest problem wasn't the lame lip-synching or the less-than-stellar dancing. It was that it wasn't live and it was never introduced as such. In all the hype and promotion before the show, we were always made to believe Katie Holmes would be doing a live performance on SYTYCD. Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining, Ashlee Simpson. Nigel Lythgoe's reaction on Twitter? "Everyone lip synchs when they're dancing. I'm going to ban all the Katie haters. You make me sick. Your attitude stops 'stars' doing charity work. Understand why she did it CHILDREN." My two cents: Eew. My four cents: Do Broadway performers lip-synch when they dance? Why do a performance where you have to "sing" then? Katie could have just danced. Lythgoe's self-righteous reaction makes me want to stop watching altogether. Tata, English Muffin. And since I'm about to embark on a road trip through the desert, with no trusty TiVo by my side (I'll miss you, BFF), that will be as easily done as said. See you from the road! Here's hoping I can look half as chic as these Kate Spadies in the desert. BussBuss xx, p.s. I'm currently featured on one of my all-time favorite shopping sites, Gilt, in the I'm Gilty blog! Please have a look-see. If you're not already a member of the invite-only sample sale site (where you can shop designer at up to 90% off), then by all means, be my guest.

Gomatta Girls: Get Up to 90% Off at New Sample Sale Site - Or Else
We love a good deal like we love a horse head in our bed. Wait, that's not right. Let's try that again. We love a good deal like we love a good chocolate-on-chocolate cupcake. Both make us feel like breaking into song every single time. So when we stumbled upon new sample sale site Gomatta Girls, we sat up and paid attention like Don Corleone and Tony Soprano were in the room. Maybe it's because we started out as Jersey girls, but the whole mobster schtick makes us laugh, rather than roll our eyes. But it's not about laughter; it's about the deals, so let's focus. Last week, we scored some 80%20 sandals, originally $100, for just $39.99. We did our due diligence and the same exact sandals are still $110 or more at other boutique sites. Those are now only available in a size 10 - hey, the deals are good so you have to move fast - but on our latest perusal of the closeout section found fab 80%20 georgie canvas hidden wedges for just $35 (originally $89) and a Dolce Vita olivia trench for $55 (originally $300). Here's how it works. Gomatta Girls sells one great fashion deal at a time, and for just one day. The designer featured at the moment is jeweler Marcia Moran. We're contemplating scooping up the multi ring set - a set of five rings for just $29.90 (originally $140), as a gift. To ourselves. To get in on the action, you have to be invited by someone in the family, if you know what we're saying. Consider yourself family. |

The highlight of our excursion to the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend? Getting to scope out Julia Rothman's gorgeously girly cards for Hello!Lucky. Those who are fans like us of Rothman's prints and illustrations, but can't wallpaper our places without major penalty, can get a piece of the action in greeting card form -- and for very little. Give one to your bestie, or get creative and frame your faves in simple white frames. We plan on doing both. Chandis, butterflies, mirrors, chairs, lingerie -- we'll take them all, thank you very much. Where to scoop them up? |

Feeling Blue: 500 Days of Summer Dress
Did you see the lovely flick 500 Days of Summer? If so, did you also swoon at the delightful vintage frocks worn by the captivating Zooey Deschanel? Everything was so ladylike, so Mad Men meets modern day, so covetable that we instantly ran to our closets and unearthed our own vintage dresses that hadn't seen the light of day in years. The film had such a Wes Anderson or Sofia Coppola quality in that the aesthetics -- both the fashion and the locations -- were as central a character as the characters themselves (at least to our style-hungry eyes). The director's choice of hue? Blue. Perhaps to highlight Deschanel's mesmerizing eyes? So we went on the hunt for a vintage-inspired dress that felt lovely and non-costumey and unearthed this rivulet dress that looks exactly like something Zooey Deschanel would wear. Feeling blue too? Scoop up a frock for your ladylike self here. |

Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake

The New York Times recently wrote an article about the Keep Calm and Carry On poster phenomenon and its subsequent spoofs ranging from Get Excited and Make Things to Now Panic and Freak Out. The best spoof of them all that we can't wait to get our sugar-fueled paws on? Everyday is a Holiday's Keep Calm and Have a Cupcake print. Brilliant. A cupcake does keep one from freaking out, for the record. We have years of experience as proof, in the form of our behinds. C'est la vie! Where to scoop up your cupcake print? Disclaimer: BussBuss is not responsible for the inevitable consumption of future delicious cupcakes, but is responsible for the many compliments you will receive after hanging this print in your home.

Modrey Hepburn: Summer's Perfect White Shirt
The search for the perfect white shirt is like the search for the perfect everyday flats. Constant, challenging, but oh-so rewarding once said perfection is found. We think we may have just found the perfect white shirt -- for summer, anyway. Delightfully askew, the asymmetrical collar adds an artsy touch and the longer cut makes it the perfect companion with skinny jeans or leggings as well as chic city shorts. Infinitely more flattering than a standard button-down or a ratty white tee, it makes the cut for the trip around the world we're about to embark on -- and that's saying a lot, as luggage space is scarce. We also plan to feel like a modern-day Audrey Hepburn while wearing it. Charmed too?

Love Love: BARK Jewelry at Farfetch
We've been on a bit of a tennis kick lately. No, we don't have a Federer fetish, though we do kind of have a girl crush on Serena Williams (not to sound all Momsy, but she seems like such a good role model; you never see her rolling out of a Hollywood hotspot pantyless!). Rather, it's more that we actually like to play tennis - horribly. Have you ever tried it? Not hitting the ball over the net is half the fun. The other half? Wearing cute little tennis outfits and pretending like you know what deuce means. So when we came across this silver tennis racket necklace, we were in love, love. Designed by BARK, the Japanese-designed, British-made brand created by Miwako Yoshioka, we're completely smitten with the nostalgic quality of her work (be sure to scope out the darling ice skate necklace too). Where did we spot BARK? At Farfetch, a fab fashion site featuring 10 cities, 20 independent fashion boutiques and 200 designers in one single website. It's like shopping the coolest of the world from your couch. The boutique your BARK necklace will be coming from? London's super-hip Beyond the Valley. Prepare to swoon.

Kelly's Klicks: Zoe, Coco and Gunn…Fashion's Baaaack!
If you've been feeling like fashion's been in a bit of a rut, prepare for a jolt. Here, three things getting me all hot, bothered and excited about style, again. Project Runway Season 6 First Tease - While I have been watching The Fashion Show, Bravo's blatant knockoff of Project Runway, with Isaac Mizrahi and Kelly Random, er Rowland (who, by the way, looks like she could be Elizabeth Hassleback's twin -- crazy but true!), I've been missing the real Project Runway with my beloved Tim Gunn. So I was thrilled to find out that Project Runway Season 6 kicks off on Lifetime on August 20 and that Heidi, Tim, Nina and Michael Kors are all back -- whew. But of course, PR isn't all about the judges, it's about the designers. Meet the new crop here and check out the video section, where you'll get to see home visits, nab fashion tips and even get to see audition tapes. There goes my lunch hour... See Coco Before Chanel - Anyone who lusts after anything Chanel, or simply loves a good story about someone rising from absolutely nothing and becoming hugely successful, will be as excited as I am to see the darling Audrey Tautou in Anne Fontaine's Coco Before Chanel film this September. Until then, get a sneak peek at the trailer here. You sew girl... Rachel Zoe is Back - Love her or simply love to loathe her, Season 2 of the Rachel Zoe Project is back on Bravo on August 25. Bananas! Until then, I'm watching video interviews with the 'celebrity stylist' (and finding out why she hates to be called that). I nod. I cringe. I die! One thing I can agree with is when Zoe says in her 'Who Is Rachel Zoe' video, I'm more scared to fail than to not try. I hear that, sista... If you can't get enough Zoe, she recently announced that she's starting an online newsletter, akin to yours truly and Gwenny's GOOP, called The Zoe Report. Will you sign up for daily glamour in your inbox? Zoe claims It's going to be bananas! Oh Zoe you di'dnt... Speaking of bananas, it's time for my daily obsession, a banana and nutella crepe. What are you craving these days? Talk to me, Tweetheart. A girl can always use more inspiration... BussBuss xx,

Project Runway Winner Leanne Marshall Unveils Her Bluefly Collection -- We Swoon
Project Runway fans rejoice. Today's the day you can scoop up Leanne Marshall's exclusive collection for Bluefly. If you loved her modern, architectural, eco-friendly approach to fashion, we think you'll be quite pleased. For us? It's all about the dresses. But what Marshall really achieved with her nine-piece collection is making eco-friendly clothing (which, quite frankly, can often induce yawns) feel not at all Earth Mothery or commune-ready. In fact, the pieces are quite glamourpuss and, dare we say, more Paris than Nicole (in a good way). Colorful and extremely wearable, with just the right amount of special, playful details Leanne is quickly becoming known for, we say bravo, Leanne, bravo (or, should we say Lifetime, Leanne, Lifetime now that Project Runway is moving to the Lifetime network?). Made in the Shades: France Romance Sunnies
It's summertime. And the livin's easy. Which means it's time for some new shades. Huge movie star sunnies? We'll always heart. But we're craving a change. And we're not exactly fans of the Yoko Ono rounded specs that fashion mags keep telling us are en vogue, yet we loathe (um, and never see anyone in). Nor are we keen on spending hundreds on glasses we're bound (nay, cursed) to lose. We are, however, loving these chic vintage gold woodgrain and black shades straight out of the '80s. Made in France and just $40, we're seeing them in our future travels. Biking through Provence, glamming it up in Monaco, strolling French flea markets, splashing in the Med. Or, um, you know, going to the grocery store. Add a little fantasy to your summer look at our new vintage shopping obsession Nasty Gal. |
