Ode to Odette

We are completely charmed by Odette New York, Jennifer Sarkilahti's jewelry line that's at once modern and nostalgic.

Feeling all Francophile? Adopt a darling French Bulldog in sterling silver or gold (no potty-training required). Or, perhaps a handcarved Eiffel Tower necklace from the Petit collection is just what your naked neck ordered.

Girl gone wild? Pick up something from the Animals collection. We're fond of the jackrabbits, monkeys and elephants. Oh my.

More comfortable in water than on land? The Sea collection is swimming with options, from starfish to kissing seahorses and all the tiny seashells and coral in between.

Where to find your treasure?

Right here.

On the Road Again...Again

What a week, cupcakes. The hubby and I literally moved out of our San Francisco flat last night, after packing all day and night Tuesday into the morning on Wednesday (until 7am to be exact), only to be greeted by the movers after a two-hour cat nap at 9am -- movers who would literally move our entire lives into storage.

We're now resting and reviving at the Cedar House in Lake Tahoe on a roadtrip to Georgia, via Utah, Colorado, Kansas and Tennessee, with only a few suitcases to show for ourselves and undoubtedly lots of unforeseen adventures ahead.

The highlight of the moving process, aside from when it was finally, actually over? Sitting in a completely empty apartment, aside from a hole-ridden air mattress which was acting as our dining table and chairs, trying to navigate eating lunch and not spilling hot soup and cold water all over ourselves, and hearing my normally unmaterialistic husband say I know a person doesn't need things, but having nothing makes you realize having some things is nice.

For someone like me who has a great appreciation for things and enjoys posting them here daily, this was music to my ears. Just as long as they are things you love and make your life better, rather than things for the sake of having them or just cluttering up precious space in your home, or mind, or suitcase.

Traveling for six months with only carry-on baggage makes a girl realize how precious space is and which things are really important. Turns out it's not the accessories, that LBD or second pair of ballet flats -- just in case, but the person sitting next to you that matters most.

Speaking of, we're off to Salt Lake City now and will be posting photos and updates from the road.

Big Love,
Kelly

Loeffler Randall Is For Lovers

Loeffler Randall lovers rejoice. You can now shop the covetable up-and-coming designer on Loeffler Randall's own site (finally!). No more weeding through obscure boutiques to find must-have boots and a limited selection of the line. You can now shop it all straight from the style-making source.

We're saving for our cravings, like the Sienna Miller-esque Studded Dress, the Draped Leather Jacket (the most feminize and cool take on a leather jacket we've ever seen) and the gorgeous, dream-worthy Lola Ruffle Booties.

Help. We've fallen (in love) and we can't get up.

What's on your wishlist?

Style Idol: Holly Golightly

Browsing one of our fave San Francisco-based fashion sites, Splendora, we came across a dress we absolutely cannot live without.

The At Tiffany's dress pays homage to our fave style icon of all time, Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly.

Custom-made by Spain-based Etsy seller MQuin, it's so darling and chic we're having palpitations. And can't believe we can get it for way less than we'd pay at, say, Saks.

Feel like a little Breakfast at Tiffany's?

Go Big or Go Home: The Devil Does Dave & Rachel Zoe Goes Bananas

The fashion goddesses were out last night. First, the second season of The Rachel Zoe Project premiered, with Zoe and her bratabulous flock of assistants freaking out over dressing Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway and Eva Mendes for the Golden Globes. We must say, they all looked stunning, particularly Eva in her white Dior creation, made even better with the addition of a vintage Van Cleef statement-making turquoise bib necklace. We'd cut off Zoe's left arm for it.

Then, Anna Wintour, Vogue editor-in-chief and real-life devil of The Devil Wears Prada, visited David Letterman to promote her fashumentary, The September Issue, and Fashion's Night Out. Her Carolina Herrera dress was nice enough, but what stood out was her statement necklace.

Lesson of the season, and perhaps, life?

Go big or go home.

Both looks got us in the mood to make statements of our own, which led us to this gorgeous necklace.

You'll never believe the price. Bananas.

Little Bow Chic

These H&M ads are making us crave sequin leggings like we crave neapolitan ice cream, which is to say passionately, unreasonably and at least three times a day (oh, wait).

But until we can get to a store (c'mon H&M, when are you ever going to enable online shopping?), we're going to focus on what else makes this look so playfully adorable: the Playboy-channeling headband.

Luckily, our other fave fast fashion mecca, Forever 21, has the hookup in hot headgear.

And for, um, less than $5 a pop. Insane. Almost as insane as a grown woman wearing a big bow on her head. But that's just what we're going to do. Why? Because you only live once.

Won't you join us?

Kelly's Klicks: Feeling Bookish

The best thing about all of this back-to-school hubbub, other than a ton of favorite shows coming back on air (I'm looking at you Mad Men and Project Runway)? It has me feeling all bookish.

A bevy of new style bibles and fashion tomes have hit the market recently and I can't wait to satisfy my bibliostyle yearnings with these top picks.

American Fashion Cookbook: 100 Designers' Best Recipes
The fashion industry's not normally associated with imbibing anything more than champagne, but surprise, surprise, designers chow -- and in style, naturally. Wanna know how to make Isaac Mizrahi's Mushroom Truffle Spaghetti? Tory Burch's Andalusian Gazpacho? With a foreword by my fave domestic goddess, Martha Stewart, and published by the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), I can't wait to be inspired in the kitchen. Just one question: What to wear?!

The Style Strategy: A Less-Is-More Approach to Staying Chic and Shopping Smart
The always-chic Project Runway judge and Marie Claire editor, Nina Garcia debuts her third book of style and I can't wait to get my desperately-in-need-of-a-manicure paws on it. I don't know about you, but a lot of fashion books can be major letdowns. Nina's are always relevant, helpful, interesting and beautiful (they're gorgeously illustrated by Ruben Toledo -- yes, the hubby of Isabel Toledo).

The Sartorialist
Giving it his best shot? Super street-style shutterbug Scott Schuman, a.k.a The Sartorialist, just released his first book. An anthology of his favorite photos of tastemakers both famous and unknown, this book is a must for any photoblogging aficionado, or simply anyone who dreams of being as stylish and worldly as The Sart's subjects.

Hope you're enjoying your summer reading!

xx,
Kelly

Back-to-Cool Must: Pretty in Plaid

Don't shoot the messenger, but summer's last days are in sight, which means thoughts of back-to-school and back-to-life looks are on our minds.

A must? Channeling the grunge '90s (think Smells Like Teen Spirit) with a preppy-meets-punk plaid shirt. You can go oversized and boyfriend or fitted and Blair Waldorf.

Our top choice?

This Adriana plaid tunic, that's at once laid-back, but not sloppy, due to the sweet tieback waist.

Snag it in brown, black-and-white, or our fave, purple.

Where?

Right here.

Secret Source: Topping Our List?

When you think of Victoria's Secret, two things probably pop to mind -- um, not Giselle's famous assets (Thelma and Louise) -- rather, bras and panties.

But it's also one of our favorite secret sources for clothing.

Normally we're smitten with the dresses (shocker), but right now we're actually coveting some pretty, blousy tops that evoke a world traveler vibe.

Tops in our book?

The romantic silk pleated shirt, that transitions from summer into fall so easily; the silk ruffle-sleeve blouse, which screams vintage, but thankfully won't smell pre-loved; and, the crinkled silk georgette blouse in sunburst yellow, which reminds us of a great 3.1 Phillip Lim frock we nearly scooped up a few months ago (if only it hadn't been so see-through).

Where to find them all?

Right here.

Shoe La Love: Shoes Under $100 We Must Have Now

As previously mentioned, we are totally obsessed with Emma Watson's style, particularly the shoes she wore on Regis and Kelly a few weeks ago.

So when we spotted these Jeffrey Campbell cuff heels (for under $100), we were in heaven.

At just the right height, they'll look great with everything from dresses to shorts to jumpsuits and more.

The biggest dilemma?

Grey, nude or black?

Seeing Spots: The Amazing Convertible Leopard Swing Wrap

It seems we're all a little more thoughtful these days about what's just a browse versus a buy. And if you've done any or are about to do any traveling, you know how necessary versatile clothing is to your state of happiness.

So when we spotted this convertible leopard swing wrap, we knew we had to have it.

It can be worn as a wrap, as a scarf, as a shirt and several other ways too (a handy dandy instruction card is included for inspiration).

We think it's very Kate Moss and super reasonable (less than $60) considering it's at least five looks in one.

Meester, Meester: Get the Betty Boop Look

Leighton Meester rocked the red, nay, green carpet at the Teen Choice Awards in a Louis Vuitton striped frock and (Zoe brand fave) Brian Atwood platforms, which we can't stop thinking about.

Want to channel the sartorial genius of Betty Boop, too? For a whole lot less?

Get those gams ready and shimmy into this playful puffball number at Topshop.

Complete the look with a killer pair of red heels. We love these flirty Nina ruffled t-straps, more than the Atwoods, in fact. And they're under $100.

Pick up your pair here.

Warning: Expect the paparazzi to now be following you. Snap.

Get Carrie-d Away: All Dressed Up With Somewhere To Go

Sometimes we get the urge to wear fairytale-worthy ruffled frocks, a la Carrie Bradshaw's bed-covering Versace Couture number in the Paris-based last episodes of Sex and the City (swoon).

While that's okay for vacuuming in our tiaras, it's not so practical for, say, grocery shopping at the farmer's market.

The way to get a touch of whimsy everyday?

With this statement-making necklace. Filmy chiffon blooms add the perfect touch of 'I feel pretty' to the most basic of looks. The only question: yellow or grey?

Rather get Carrie-d away?

Try this more wearable tiered frock, which looks great for both vacuuming and for picking up organic peaches at the market. Just prepare to be picked up yourself.

Where to make your fairytale come true?

Oh, Goodies: Up to 75% Off at Bluefly's Biggest Sale of the Season

Chunky may not be a term of flattery when describing, say, your thighs. However, when we're talking jewelry, the chunkier, the better.

For instance? This big and bold
Kenneth Jay Lane gold pyramid stud dome ring
is a surefire way to take a drab ensemble to fab in a flash -- and helps make your digits look slimmer. Originally $100, it's nearly half off at just $51 at Bluefly's Once In a Blue Moon semi-annual clearance sale. Translation? Designer covetables at up to 75% off.

We're also ga-ga-girly over this bow-adorned Rachel Leigh hot pink enamel hinge cuff. Originally $120, now just $59. Are you cuff enough?

More than baubles, Bluefly is offering up loads of clothing, bags, shoes, accessories, even darling umbrellas and designers on a silver platter for the price of a stainless steel platter.

Ravenous?

On the Road Again

Greetings and style salutations from the road, cupcakes.

What an adventure it has been so far. If you're like me, it's easy to think of other countries as being more fabulous destinations to visit. And while they may be more exotic due to the unfamiliarity, sometimes it's what we discover in our own backyards that is most surprising.

I'll save the kum bay yahs for the glamp fire, but America truly is beautiful. And I've had the pleasure of experiencing it from the road this past week, traveling from San Francisco to Yosemite to Death Valley to Las Vegas to The Painted Desert of Arizona and beyond. And will be doing so for the next few weeks (New Mexico and Texas, here I come!).

My personal pledge? To not look like an American tourist (i.e., to not wear my clunky gym tennis, shorts and printed t-shirts). Why is it that we all seem to fall into this rut when we travel? Would I be able to overcome the comfort food of fashion and still be comfortable?

Well, I'm no Audrey Hepburn or Kelly Wearstler (my style idols), but at least I didn't make myself squirm too much when looking back at photos.

Here's hoping I can keep it up! If you'd like to check out my Style On the Road blog and find out what to wear and what not to wear when it's 124 degrees, click here.

More adventures from the road next week. Until then, I hope you're soaking up summer and style and having fun playing dress up from your own backyards.

BussBuss xx,
Kelly

Stroke of Genius

Artsy brushstroke-print dresses have been a big trend this season -- one we've been wanting to get in on. Marc by Marc Jacobs and Adam Lippes both had great versions, but none have been this cute at this price.

For less than $23, you can even afford to paint in it and risk dripping paint on it.

Less Than Lunch: The "F" Dress

We feel pretty. Oh, so pretty. We feel pretty and witty and bright.

Feeling playful? So are we. And we think this feminine frock is perfect for frolicking, flirting and more things that start with an "f." Like French-frying. And French-toasting. And feeling fabulous.

It also happens to be a frugal find at less than 30 clams.

We love the white floral, but might just snatch it up in red and black too.

Where to go "f" yourself?

Right here, sweetheart.

Rachel Zoe Nude (Totally SFW)

Rachel Zoe's first installment of her newsletter The Zoe Report debuts today, which got us wondering what her Piperlime shoe picks are these days.

So we popped in for a peek and wound up in major covet mode. Damn you, Rachel Zoe. We so love/hate you.

What Rachel approves of that we heart too?

Giuseppe Zanotti's gorgeous neutral pump, which suddenly seems worth its paycheck-equivalent price tag. Ditto the L.A.M.B cream-and-black Randi. Yum.

Want something as fab for a lot less, and still Rachel Zoe-approved? Vince Camuto's funkier, chunkier Sarah in linen canvas and natural patent fits the bill. And if the shoes fits, foot the bill (sorry).

Want to scope these, along with all of Zoe's picks?

Click here to see Rachel Zoe's top picks for fall at Piperlime. Plus, get free shipping and free returns too (that's the kind of bonus we can get behind).
