April 03, 2008 : Found! Free Personal Shopper Who Loves Saving You Money: Shop It To Me
|
What's better than having a personal shopper?
Having a personal shopper who tells you when your favorite things -- in your size -- go on sale.
That's exactly what the fabulously addictive site Shop It To Me does.
For free.
Brilliant.
Before you head off to Perez, take a quick moment to tell Shop It To Me your fave brands (Chloe, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Mike & Chris, Prada, BCBG, Juicy, Ralph Lauren, Nine West, Miu Miu, Michael Kors, Free People, Louis Vuitton, Citizens of Humanity, etc.) and your size preferences. It only takes a minute and is actually rather fun.
They'll then email you a daily or weekly summary of which new items go on sale in your size.
Too good to be real? Unlike most of Hollywood's tatas, Shop It To Me actually is the real deal.
Check it out for yourself!

September 02, 2007 : BussBuss Hearts: The Little Black Book of Style
|
Jonesing for your next Project Runway fix?
Nab a copy of Nina Garcia's new book, The Little Black Book of Style.
The judge you love to hate, and fashion director of Elle magazine, focuses on how to achieve your own chic personal style (re: how not to be a slave to trends and become a fashion victim).
We love the haute tome's pretty factor, particularly the frame-worthy illustrations by the amazing Ruben Toledo, as well as the fun insider tips and tricks from fashion's finest: Diane von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren, John Galliano, Michael Kors, Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta, to namedrop a few.
Pick up a pretty copy for your coffee table, and be inspired to be fabulous this fall, at Amazon.
WIN A COPY: Nina Garcia and HarperCollins love BussBuss too and are giving away five Little Black Books to five lucky DailyBuss subscribers. Click here to enter to win your copy -- and be sure to tell your fab friends!
UP NEXT: Starting tomorrow, enjoy our new special September edition Fall Trends Guides in your DailyBuss, showcasing what's new for fall and where to buy!

August 27, 2007 : BussBuss Hearts: decor8
|
Let's face it, there are a lot of design blogs out there. But there aren't many with as much heart or warmth as Holly Becker's decor8.
Holly's mix of professional interior design experience and simple unabashed love of style makes decor8 a daily must-read for us. And her honesty keeps us coming back for more.
For instance, Holly readily admits she loves Rachel Ashwell as much as she does Kelly Wearstler or Jonathan Adler (you won't find many in design admitting that these days). It's this unique mix and accessible approach to design that makes decor8 irresistible. It's also what lets us know her home and the spaces she's designed must ooze with warmth, color and fabulousness.
Featuring finds from sofas to stationery, decor8 also serves up loads of pretty pictures, affordable art finds from Etsy, inspiring decorating ideas, interviews, city shopping guides (so handy for the jet settera) and answers design questions and dilemmas from readers, too.
Plus, her love affair with Flickr and her scanner are well documented in our favorite section, Rooms I Heart, where she catalogs all of her favorite rooms from magazines and elsewhere.
Be inspired every day right here at decor8.

August 20, 2007 : BussBuss Hearts: The Fashionista Diaries
|
When we're not shopping online, flipping through glossies, sleeping or trying to find a cure for the common cold, chances are we're watching The Fashionista Diaries, which premiered on SOAPnet on August 1.
Filmed in New York, the cameras follow six hungry twentysomething interns as they try to make it in the frenzied world that is fashion, beauty, PR and magazine publishing: two interns work at Flirt! Cosmetics, two at Seventh House PR and two at Jane magazine (may it rest in peace).
While it's about as 'real' as The Hills (another show we heart), it's still fun watching while we wait for Project Runway to come back on the air.
Some of the 'characters' are refreshingly delightful, while some are downright detestable. Which, let's face it, is half the fun.
How do spoiled socialites mix with girls from, scoff, Queens? Can a guy make it at Jane (or Cosmogirl!)? Is beauty really that easy and boh-ring?
Find out Wednesdays at 9PM EST/PT, 8PM Central, or watch full episodes here on SOAPnet.

August 13, 2007 : BussBuss Hearts: YOU!
|
BussBuss Hearts is all about stylemakers who inspire us. And no one inspires us more than you, our readers. So, we thought you might enjoy the chance to be inspired by each other.
Last week's survey results were so much fun to read and we love getting to know you better. For instance, you are indeed mix masters, combining high and low, new with vintage, and love that boho-chic look that Anthropologie, Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, Rachel Bilson and Kate Moss expertly serve up.
We loved hearing about your personal style the most. Below, some of our favorite answers from you when asked:
Tell us about your personal style! Do you have a style icon or personal style/shopping philosophy?
{MADE US PROUD}:
Boutique owners check my labels when I walk in, and send their buyers after the brands I have on.
Be as comfortable in your clothes as you are in your skin, and always be yourself.
Everything a person buys should have some personal reflection. My philosophy is style with soul. Don't buy things because of a fad, but because they connect with you, that reflect the kind of person you are, and that make you really and truly feel good. Style should feed the soul.
I really like supporting independent shops and designers. Local ones are great, but I usually don't see much from my area.
THE style icon of my eyes is Katherine Hepburn. Her spunk flies off her ensemble and into your soul. She wore her personality so well. My style/shopping philosophy is definitely comfort and cool. I can't be cool if I'm not comfortable. Who wants to envy a girl that punishes herself with uncomfortable clothing?
{MADE US SMILE}:
Hmmm. Seems lately I get dressed in the dark, which is also a metaphor for my style as of late.
It must fit, be flattering, not cost an arm or a leg and make other women green with envy that I can pull it off.
Look like a lady in what I wear and still look good to the men.
I like stuff that looks good on me. Effortless chic, but not a label whore. I like bargains! I love the Cali-cool of Jennifer Aniston to the I-don't-care-but-I-do of Sienna Miller. I love the glammed-up gals as well like J.Lo. Hey, if I had her money I'd glam it up 24/7 too! I love how Beyonce dresses for her curves and always looks pulled together.
{MADE US WANT TO WORK EVEN HARDER:}
No, I wish I did. I need more focus in my style!!!! Help!
We'll certainly try our best!
XX,
The BussBuss Team

August 06, 2007 : BussBuss Hearts: Splash Style
|
We all have our dirty little secrets: Perez in the afternoon, milkshakes at midnight, flossing only the night before your next dentist appointment.
Our latest, worth sharing, is Splash Style. We're extra excited about this because it's one of those ideas we actually came up with ourselves, though we envisioned it for TV. Like what a celebrity is wearing? Click on it and shop instantly. It's still the future of television, we're just a few years off. Or maybe less now.
Splash News, a celebrity news and picture agency, lets you click on anything in one of their videos or pictures and purchase it in a click (all hail instant gratification). Full disclaimer: These are ads (i.e. companies pay to be linked to and it's not always the exact item, it's more like the 'look for less' -- even better, really).
For instance, wanna nab Angelina's dress? Just click it. Unfortunately, they haven't yet figured out how to put up Brad Pitt for sale. But it's still fun to click on him nonetheless.
Wanna dress like fashionistas Chloe Sevigny, Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Rachel Bilson or Mischa Barton? Perhaps jailbird-chic is more your thing? Click and shop Lindsay, Paris or Nicole's style.
Find pics and videos of everyone from Cameron, Reese, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston and Katie Holmes to Fergie, Penelope, Eva Longoria and Mendes and anyone in between right here at Splash Style.

July 30, 2007 : BussBuss Hearts: Hostess With the Mostess
|
Style extends far beyond those Louboutins you covet. We're firm believers that the carpet should match the drapes (i.e. your flat should look as fab as YOU do -- and the same goes for the shindigs you throw in it). After all, what's the point of looking like a star if your backdrop is only bleh?
Which is why we're obsessed with Hostess With the Mostess, a resource for hip, modern and unique entertaining ideas.
Graphic designer and entertaining guru Jennifer Sbranti started HWTM to share her party-girl fabulosity with the world -- and to motivate friends and fam to enjoy each other's company more often, whether for a casual everyday get-together (martinis in the parlor) or a big life event (bridal and baby showers, anyone?).
At HWTM, you'll find fab party themes and inspirations and the exact 411 on how to recreate them (we heart he instant gratification aspect). Also enjoy fab gift finds and a new recipe box section that features yummy cocktails, appetizers and more.
Be inspired to celebrate the everyday at Hostess With the Mostess.
Be sure to visit the Hostess Blog for daily finds, giveaways and deelish eye candy.

July 23, 2007 : BussBuss Hearts: Turquoise!
|
Due to a recent move, we've been extra obsessed with all things on the interior design front lately. And though there are a kazillion design blogs these days, not many actually offer free professional advice.
Lucky for us, interior designer, writer, shop owner and general style maker/mover and shaker Vanessa De Vargas of Turquoise in Los Angeles offers just that with her blog Turquoise.
Got an interior design dilemma? Ask Vanessa and she'll answer it in Design 911. With a glam vintage modern aesthetic, which you'll happily gleam from browsing her blog and site (check out her interior design pics), she's a pro at making what is old new and fabulous again. And you'll love scoring free advice from someone with such enviable taste.
Scope out the Turquoise blog here and the Turquoise site here.
P.S. Readers of Vanessa's blog will already be in the loop, but currently everything in the Turquoise showroom is 40% off. Photos are on her site, so scoop up something special before it's gone!
