As people who rack up a lot of frequent flier miles, we're big fans of long scarves and wraps. What happens when two vintage-loving super-talented designer friends put their heads -- and hands -- together?

Maureen Walsh, Uncle Bikes clothing designer -- and former BussBuss alum, and Trish Andersen, Anthropologie's Fifth Avenue store display coordinator, met in the fibers department at SCAD and, as most young designers do these days, eventually moved to Brooklyn, where they formed the fab new design studio specializing in interiors, environments and one-of-a kind fashion and home products.

Even though it feels like 107 degrees outside, we're in the arctic blast of our air-conditioner, leaving us thinking about cute fall fashion. We can't help it – it's what we live for, okay?! Our obsession with black and white continues. This time the objects of our affection are the cool creations by Brooklyn-based independent designer Elaine Perlov. We really dig Elaine's design concept of modular dressing and her mission to create clothing that is economical and useful (get more scoop on this in a great interview with the designer at decor8).

After all, why should building a fabulous wardrobe be a chore? Elaine Perlov makes it a cinch with her easy-to-wear separates, allowing us urban fashionistas the time to actually have fun with fashion. We're yearning to rawk the black and white skirts and tops, but with a pop of color of course -- either with these yellow crochet pumps or these fun Kate Spade sandals. We've been big fans of Austin-based line Amet and Sasha since we lived in the cool college town, back when BussBuss was just a twinkle in our womb. We're not ones for following trends as we're not so gung-ho about looking like everyone else. Browsing the GAP's website, we saw the cutest weekend outfit under Look of the Moment, and may we just say how rare it is that we actually covet all pieces from a look. But this easy breezy style is just that – so easy that we feel the need to scoop it up. Plus, the skirt is reversible, so that's a deal if we ever saw one. And we're addicted to yellow so the raffia tote in lemon peel is too deelish for our fashion-obsessed paws to resist. After seeing just about 10 out of 10 girls in NYC rawking them, we thought we should share our opinion on the whole leggings trend. First of all, those of you sweet young things born in the '80s, or dear gawd, even later, might not even be aware that leggings, along with neon and big hair, pretty much defined '80s fashion. Being children of the '80s ourselves, we have a soft spot for leggings, but have very strong opinions on how to wear them without looking like a big faux pas or someone trying to do a Madonna or Cyndi Lauper impression. Really, we have just one rule: Do not wear them with denim skirts. The strong hemline of the skirt combined with the line of the leggings forms a very unflattering shape, cutting your legs off at the wrong point and making legs look shorter than they really are. Yet, with flowy dresses and big billowy tops, leggings look very Parisian-chic, and we completely dig the functionality factor. Being huge fans of dresses in the summer, we were in desperate need of a solution for NYC wind gusts – we can only flash passersby so many times, after all. With leggings, all problems are solved.
