Renegade Craft Fair

Once again, New Yorkers looking to shop it like it's haute can do so in hipster indie style this weekend at the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn. More than 100 designers and crafty peeps from all over the country, including Fred Flare, Etsy, Day-Lab, Austin Craft Mafia, Johnny Cupcakes, Twigs and Heather, India*Romeo and so many more, will be selling their wares from 11am-6pm in Williamsburg's McCarren Park on Saturday and Sunday. This is a fab place to score one-of-a-kind finds, like those we feature on BussBuss, in person. Plus, it's always fun to get to meet the actual designers themselves. Those not lucky enough to be in NYC can still shop indie of course. Simply head to Haute Shops to see what's new and cool by more than 50 designers and indie boutiques. Sure beats looking like the mall-ified masses and deep down we know how much you love one-upping your friends in the coolness department. But be sweet and spread the lurve – everyone deserves a DailyBuss to perk up the day (please 'forward to a friend!').

September 15, 2003 : The Renegade Craft Fair!

Sure, craft fair. I can hear you scoffing now. But let me clarify. First of all, craft does not equal crap. I know craft fair conjures up images of grannies selling their tired, less-than-original old people stuff. But times, they are a changin'. For those who don't know, there's been this whole underground DIY movement of (gasp!) young people. Lots of twentysomething chicks making awesome accessories, bags, clothes, journals and more. The great part is that it means you can get one-of-a-kind finds, boosting your originality and style points. Like with vintage, you're not gonna show up somewhere with a bag or dress someone else is already wearing. Whew!

Here's a sampling of the vendors that will be tearing it up in Chicago's Wicker Park this Saturday, September 20th. If you can't make it in person, you can check out their great sites and buy online. Remember, the holidays are only a few months away, so start ordering now!

July 17, 2003 : HOT: An Online Group Show at MaryJeys.com

This show epitomizes what BussBuss is all about – twentysomethings taking control of their lives and showing off their genius any way they can – no need to wait to be discovered. Oh no, no, rather hello world here I come, whether you're ready for me or not. What am I talking about? The latest greatest thing to hit the Web in…nanoseconds! Online art shows. Curated by Zhouvie Leclerq (is that a real person or is it not – that's just part of the mystery), the theme of the show is HOT. Artists include Paige Davidson, Ian Pedigo, Bari Ziperstein, Tatjana Sofkoska, Derrick Snyder, Barry Stone, Erika Buentello and Elaine Bradford. You can share your thoughts and have some e-wine and cheese, all for free, on the message boards. Or add screen name "Zhouvie" to your AIM Buddy List and chat all day long about these HOT artists.
