August 12, 2008 : Oh Bunny: Meet Fifi Lapin
|
Have you had the pleasure of meeting Fifi Lapin?
May we introduce you?
She's THE vintage and designer-loving haress to her father's fortune, which he made playing fast and loose with carrot and lettuce shares on the international stock market. She absolutely adores fashion and always sports the latest runway looks.
Instead of paying some premium fee to the paparazzi for a photo of the jetsetting Haress Hilton, you can snag a print of her in Chanel, Proenza Schouler, Luella and more. Lots more once Fashion Week starts next month, we're sure.
In the meantime, follow the London-based Fifi at her blog, where you'll discover that, like us, she's also a fan of indie designers Lena Corwin and Abigail Percy. There, you can also befriend her on Facebook and MySpace.
Or, shop for original illustrations and limited edition prints of her at her Etsy store now!

August 04, 2008 : Hello, You Are My Sunshine
|
In a world increasingly filled with cynicism, we find ourselves craving anything sunny and happy. And we just happen to be addicted to the Vitamin D we get from that bright ball of fire in the sky. We are in California, after all.
And, for what seems like forever, we've been yearning for a print that says 'Hello Sunshine' that we could hang in our entryway to greet our guests and ourselves.
So we were pleased as punch to discover this sweet You Are My Sunshine print by Jess Gonacha.
Then, as if things couldn't get any better, we found these Hello Sunshine notecards by Kate Spade.
Why not spread a little sunshine yourself?
Dare we say it's the new black?

August 01, 2008 : Tie One On: Dress for Dinner Napkins
|
The next time you have friends over for a Mad Men pizza and cocktail party (which should be every Sunday in our opinion), surprise them with these hysterical Dress for Dinner napkins.
Even if everyone's in their trusty Sunday uniform (t-shirts and jeans), they'll look as dapper as Mr. Draper himself once they put their ties...er, napkins on.
An excellent hostess gift or housewarming gift for your best bachelor friend who just moved into his new place, we think these would also be adorable at a little kid's birthday party.
Where to dress for dinner?
At The Spoon Sisters!

July 17, 2008 : Picnic, Anyone?
|
Chicago's our kind of town, Chicago is, but we still can't wait to finally be back in San Francisco.
The first thing we want to do? Leave (we know, we have problems) and head north to Marin for a picnic in the warm California sunshine.
What we'll be taking with us?
This cheeky picnic table condiment holder.
We think it would be such a fun hostess gift for that next summer BBQ you're invited to, as well.

July 11, 2008 : Pig Love: Cutest Hostess Gift Ever
|
This little piggy went to market.
This little piggy stayed at home.
This little piggy had roast beef.
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went "Wee! Wee! Wee!" all the way to BussBuss' home.
What could be cuter as a hostess gift than this little piggy wooden cutting board?
Not much.
Which is why we're totally making it part of the fam by scooping it up right now from one of our absolute favorite gift shops The Spoon Sisters.

July 08, 2008 : Yummiest Funniest Gift Basket Ever: Ramen Spork & More!
|
Did someone you know recently graduate and you still haven't nabbed her a gift? Or does your struggling artist friend have a birthday coming up?
Why not get her the perfect gift?
The Ramen Spoon/Fork by Masami Takahashi was originally created for use at the popular Sugakiya ramen noodle restaurant chain in Japan, but we think it's perf for your ramen-eating friends.
Make it extra special by buying some packs of ramen -- or ten (heck, aren't they 10 for $1?) -- and this Grumpy Girl 'I Cook Instant Ramen on Certain Holidays' tee and creating the yummiest and funniest gift basket ever.

July 02, 2008 : You Donkey! Or Elephant...Adopt a Jonathan Adler Animal Bank
|
In the spirit of the Fourth of July and having the right to vote, not to mention our undying love of animal accessories and soft spot for Jonathan Adler, we present these cheeky elephant and donkey ceramic banks.
A super cute baby gift for your fave future republican or democrat, as well as a fun retirement gift for your hardened republican or democrat, as peeps who tend to see both sides with rose-colored Gucci-knockoff glasses (kidding), we'll take one of each, thanks.
Why not treat yourself to an Independence Day prezzie? You're worth it.
Plus, it'll finally give you somewhere to put all your change and will be the most carefree pet you'll ever have.

June 30, 2008 : Perfect Summer Hostess Gift: gleena Flowers That Last Forever
|
Even though it's a chilly 61 degrees here in San Francisco right now, summer has officially arrived.
And summer to us means finding great hostess gifts to give (and maybe even to get).
If you're spending some time at a loved one's home (beach, mountain, city) anytime soon, why not give them flowers that will last a lifetime, like this perfect tulip on a porcelain platter by gleena?
It's simple, beautiful and will surely guarantee you'll be invited back again. {We also may be drawn to the tulips because we're gearing up for a trip to the Netherlands -- and Norway -- this week!}
Gorgeous bowls, cups, plates and vases are also available in a variety of colors and styles by gleena designer Asya Palatova, who was born in Russia ('gleena' means 'clay' in Russian) and now lives and works in Rhode Island (we love that we can see her childhood influences in her work).

June 24, 2008 : Poster Child: The Small Stakes
|
In addition to being pillow junkies, we're also a bit addicted to buying art online. From Etsy prints by indie artists to vintage posters and everything in between, we have more art than we have walls (hello, rotating art gallery).
And right now, we're feeling like putting our heart(s) in the right place.
How?
With Jason Munn's cool indie band posters at The Small Stakes.
We're always up for anything with a heart motif -- done in a fresh way -- and love the retro graphic vibe.
Feel like putting your heart and art in the right place or giving someone special a little love?

June 22, 2008 : Olive Pillows So Much
|
If you dig Japanese prints, Scandinavian design, birdies, all things handmade and are as addicted to pillows as we are, prepare to swoon your socks off.
Quite simply, these pillows ooze charm.
In fact, they're so charmingly sweet, it almost seems like irony that the designer of the darling pillows lives in Las Vegas.
Que sera.
Equally at home in a child's room as in a hip adult's space, we're particularly fond of the pillows made to look like flower shops, markets and houses one would find in a quaint European village.
We also find the elephant, birdies and birdcages hard to resist. And at prices so incredibly reasonable ($19+), we probably won't.

June 20, 2008 : Hey Paula: Take the Henry Road + 20% Off!
|
We've gushed over Henry Road designer Paula Smail's groovy prints and colorful global style in the past and are so excited to see her latest collection of pillows, bags, aprons, tablecloths, runners, journals and more.
The poppy, colorful graphics put us in the mood to host a sun-drenched summer party with good food and friends. And that just makes us happy. And, really, isn't that what good design is all about?
We also love that we can get a dose of Henry Road on the go in handbag form, too. The totes are perfect for hopping and shopping around flea markets, rummaging through vintage stores for hidden treasures and traipsing the globe stylishly.
The best part?

June 19, 2008 : You're Invited to a Tea Party: Introducing Domestic Construction
|
What happens when two vintage-loving super-talented designer friends put their heads -- and hands -- together?
Domestic Construction.
Maureen Walsh, Uncle Bikes clothing designer -- and former BussBuss alum, and Trish Andersen, Anthropologie's Fifth Avenue store display coordinator, met in the fibers department at SCAD and, as most young designers do these days, eventually moved to Brooklyn, where they formed the fab new design studio specializing in interiors, environments and one-of-a kind fashion and home products.
You can scope out their debut line of dresses crafted from vintage fabrics and hand screen-printed pillows at Domestic Construction (and buy at a Renegade Craft Fair near you).
But it's their ted lights, made with vintage teacups, that we're swooning over, and that you can nab right now on Etsy if you're fast enough.
Imagine hanging one, or a cluster, over your kitchen or dining room table for a statement all your Scandinavian-design-loving friends would sell their first-borns for. They'd also make such a fab, unexpected gift.

Life is short.
Which is why we believe you should surround yourself and fill your days with things that inspire you.

If you love animals, wallpaper, photography and/or design, prepare to start saving up for one of Ledner's irresistible prints (think Cute Overload meets Domino -- swoon).
We're fawning over the sweet hedgehog, the grumpy bulldog, the lazy pig, the dashing dachshund, vibrant flamingo, bashful bunny and gorgeous zebra.

June 05, 2008 : Get Sentimental at Oh My Word
|
What happens when a former ad world girl with a twisted sense of humor starts a greeting card line?
Oh My Word.
On the outside, the cards reveal simple and sweet enough sentiments such as the tradish:
[outside] I miss you.
But on the inside, the fabulous because it's true:
[inside] when I'm drunk.
We love (and have heard that a certain Gossip Girl star does too):
[outside] You skinny little b*tch.
[inside] What I mean is...did you lose weight?
Scope out the three brand-spankin' new debut collections: The Truth Hurts, Just Because, and What I Mean Is...at Oh My Word.

p.s. A recent experience prompted us to begin a special feature we've been tossing around for a few years now. We call it The DailyBust.
While The DailyBuss focuses on the positive and the very best in online shopping and style, sometimes you have to vent the negative to prevent other shoppers from incurring such retail fiascos themselves and to hopefully bring more awareness to said offending shops so that they can fix their problems, in hopes of making the entire retail landscape a much better one for all of us.
Congratulations to the ironically named Best Buy for being our first DailyBust!

So we were thrilled to find out that we can now glam up our lattes and hot cocoas too.
How?
With this two-carat cup, dahling.

May 01, 2008 : Adopt Multiples: glassybaby

We love things in multiples (mind outta the gutter, ladies).
And we heart things with cute names.
Which likely explains our growing obsession with glassybaby.
Candy-colored glass votives that can double as mini vases with names like Lamb, First Kiss, Tutu, Lollypop, Orangesicle and Rootbeer? Sold.
Perfect for weddings and gifts (hello, Mother's Day), each handmade glass looks gorgeous on its own, with a candle inside or with flowers peeking out.
Beware the prices are… pricey, but good things come in small packages and these are little works of art you'll want to adopt. Over and over again.

April 28, 2008 : C'mon Get Happy: Orange and Tomato
|
One visit to the BussBuss estate (le joke) and you'll quickly realize our love of orange and tomato. We love to toss in pops of the bright happy hues amidst our white and blue pieces for a sunny, delightful effect.
Proof of our love? We once scored a great vintage Jonathan Adler-esque floor lamp for $50 at a charity shop in San Francisco (ironically across the street from the Jonathan Adler store where similar lamps cost a cool $1000) and spray-painted it glossy bright orange. It's now our favorite piece in the room.
Which likely explains why we're loving CB2's latest orange and tomato offerings.
If you're feeling a little warm weather makeover, we highly suggest picking up a piece or two to add some cheer to your home (you'll love how affordable Crate & Barrel's hipper little sister shop is, too).
We love the vintage modern sensibility of this lamp, this office chair, this table and the brilliant lubi daybed (which flips over to sleep two).

April 01, 2008 : Do You DaWanda? Shop the Etsy of Europe!
|
Ever wonder what designers across the pond are up to? Not the big names you can get in every major city, but the independent designers you'd find on sites like Etsy here in the States?
Wonder no more.
DaWanda, the Etsy of Europe, will let you get your fix.
And even though exchange rates aren't exactly in our favor these days, you can still score great deals.
For instance, this darling teapot necklace made from polymer clay would make such a sweet birthday or Mother's Day gift and costs just $6 EUR plus $2 EUR to ship via USPS Priority Mail (if math hurts your head -- and we feel your pain, that means you'll pay about $12 and get your goodies from Sofia, the designer in Bulgaria, in 7-10 days).
It's like having a jet-setting BFF send you goodies from afar, a style pen-pal of sorts -- but better because you get to pick them out yourself.
Way more affordable than booking a ticket to Europe, stroll the virtual market and impress your friends with one-of-a-kind gifts, art and fashion.
Take a trip to DaWanda!

March 28, 2008 : Animal House: Adopt an Elephant Today!
|
While we love our San Francisco flat, we don't love the no-pets rule. Especially since we've been dying to adopt an elephant for what seems like an eternity (so we have no yard, we can keep him on our rooftop!).
We'll have to appease our animal yearnings with these adorable kitchen tools instead.
The elephant dust pan and punkupine scrub brush will make cleaning less of a chore and the mouse grater, monkey peeler and beaver whisk will keep cooking -- and conversations -- interesting.
As well as low-maintenance pets, they all also make great hostess gifts.

October 16, 2007 : Paper People
|
Though we live in a digital world here at BussBuss, we are undoubtedly paper people. We lust for all the gorgeous wallpapered walls we see in Domino, Blueprint and Elle Decor each month.
But what's a girl living in a rental to do?
Aside from lining our drawers with pretty paper (which we highly recommend for glamming up your space), we're adding instant color, pattern, texture and art to our rooms by framing our favorite sheets of paper.
Much more affordable (about $3-$10 per sheet), and way more temporary (which is so important as our tastes change faster than Paris goes through boyfriends), you can find rainbows of gorgeous options at Paper Source (we're especially fond of the Japanese prints).

When it comes to home decor and fashion, we think it's best when your accessories are as unique as possible. They're those statement pieces that really show who you are and your personal style. Are you really a mass-produced poster kind of girl? We didn't think so.
Which is why we're loving the new boutique Petaline. Selling a well-curated selection of handmade, one-of-a-kind home accessories, art, photography, jewelry, bags and clothing from Pacific Northwest artists, Petaline is a rare jewel -- a spot to find things that are actually made with heart.
Can we be expected to resist pillows by Kristin Loffer Theiss? She freehand draws each one with her sewing machine, like an etch-a-sketch (re: sew amazing).
Or Kate Endle's original collages (so sweet and so affordable).
And, of course, we believe you should look as good as your home, which is why we're loving the gorgeous bags by Jamie Irene and Sabrina Love Handbags, as well as Suzabelle's statement trench coat and Keri D'Angelo's earrings.
Find your own favorites, and save 20% with code BUSS20PETAL at checkout through September 30, 2007, at Petaline.

August 23, 2007 : Home Sweet Brocade Home
|
For those obsessing about making their homes sweet homes prettier, look no further than Brocade Home, Restoration Hardware's much more feminine little sister shop that launched last fall.
Fusing an Anthropologie meets Paris aesthetic (re: totally romantic, flirty and chic), girly girls will go gaga for the perfume bottle chenille rugs, petite chandeliers, lattice-flocked wallpaper, ruffle-edge mirrors, lace-cut headboards, tufted ottomans, velvet sofas and attainable affluence.
Browse the new fall collection and prepare to swoon here at Brocade Home.
p.s. First time shoppers enjoy 15% off with code XBHINTRO at checkout.

August 16, 2007 : The Gold Standard
|
While we like to share trends, we certainly don't believe you should be a slave to them and we're not usually ones for fashion dictates. But there are two style philosophies that we do believe in wholeheartedly. One, details make all the difference. And two, you should only buy what you love.
It's rewarding to look around your home and see pieces that make you smile, and there are easy ways to transform okay things into oh-yay things, such as with new handles, pulls and knobs.
On a recent stroll through Anthropologie's virtual halls, we struck gold, which we've been craving lately (particularly paired with glossy white, bone or shell -- it's just so cheery-chic).
And we found lots on sale. Even better.
From new hardware to paperweights and frames, give your dresser, door or desk a makeover with a quick update or two here at Anthropologie.

August 15, 2007 : The Fabulous Diaries
|
It's no surprise we like the good life and we love quirky and honest-to-a-fault designer Pamela Barsky (have you read her blog -- a tale of making it as a gift designer in LA, overcoming divorce and more?).
Her products have as much personality as she does and are as entertaining as she is, so it only makes sense that she's responsible for these fabulous entertaining journals.
They'll help you keep track of all your social events, from sharing a bottle of vino with friends to finally getting a table at the hottest restaurant in New York.
Choose from the Dinner Party Journal, the Restaurant Journal, the Wine Lover's Journal or the Recipes Journal to help keep track of your fabulous life.
Better yet, be fabu-less and get these for 50% off right here at See Jane Work.

August 10, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: The Spoon Sisters
|
The Spoon Sisters is perhaps our favorite gift shop of all time.
Selling many of our fave products, style solutions and innovations, such as the Purseket, the Doorganizer, GalPals, Egglings, the Message Bean, Thumb Thing, the Takeout Menu Organizer, the DaysAgo Digital Counter, the Rear-View Computer Mirror, the Foot Petals Stiletto Kit, ABC Gingerbread Cookie Cutters and just about every clever product you've ever wanted for yourself or your loved ones, The Spoon Sisters is more a celebration of innovation and cottage industry than it is about selling products.
Fortunately, The Spoon Sisters love BussBuss just as much as we adore them and are offering an exclusive 20% off to BussBuss readers with code bussbuss at checkout through August 20, 2007.
So stock up on Christmas, baby, hostess and birthday gifts (um, for yourself of course), and save here at The Spoon Sisters.
P.S. We'd like to send a huge thank you to everyone who has taken our Summer Survey. If we learned one thing so far, it's that you want more coupon codes and unique finds (see above) and we're working hard to keep them coming!
Haven't taken it yet? Don't be shy. Click here to tell us all about YOU!

August 09, 2007 : Martha, Martha, Martha
|
Today begins Macy's Semi-Annual Home Sale, where you can nab 10-50% off things for your home sweet home through August 16, plus free shipping on orders over $125.
But what we're most excited about is Martha Stewart's new collection that recently launched at Macy's.
The domestic diva serves up her signature classic, clean style in everything from champagne and martini glasses to faux bois towels to bedding and rugs. We were contemplating one of the rugs a few weeks ago, but the steep price tag did not have us at hello.
Giddily, with the sale in progress, the rug we love is now over $1000 off.
Scope out the entire home sale (and be sure to appropriately marvel at Martha's collection) here at Macy's.
p.s. Another Macy's sale is in progress -- The Hot One Sale. Starting today through August 12, nab 20-50% off shoes, clothing, bags and jewelry.

August 01, 2007 : Vandalized Vintage
|
Warning: Immature Content
We're all about the art of the unexpected, which is why when we came across New Zealand-based Trixie Delicious, we were instantly smitten.
Tea and china are always so proper and stuffy, but not when Karen Dennis of Trixie Delicious gets her naughty little hands in the mix.
Her vandalized vintage plates mix the soft and pretty with the edgy and cheeky. The Upper East Side with the Lower East Side. Think Shabby Chic meets Sarah Silverman. Rachel Ashwell would be quite surprised indeed.
Giving new life to old dishes (oh so very green), imagine your guests' reactions when you serve tea on the Seven Deadly Sins -- or Poisons -- plates. Or, when you use your new plate as decor -- we heart the Clueless plate, but get a kick out of the Starf*cker one as well.
Trixie also does custom work on plates, shakers and teapots, so feel free to choose your own word(s).
Get a little naughty and give the gift of the unexpected (so fab for your hip friends having an untradish wedding) at Trixie Delicious.

July 26, 2007 : Cha Bling
|
The only thing better than a bowl of cherries? A bowl of bling. Honestly, fruit is so passe, these days it's all about diamonds. Big, shiny faux diamonds.
Use your brilliant bling as a paperweight, artfully propped by the fireplace or on your bedside table (so very Bond girl). Really, in our opinion, you can never go wrong with big shiny objects anywhere. Must be the Holly Golightly in us.
And, in this gorgeous stainless steel stella bowl, these diamonds seem right at home.
In search of a creative wedding gift or thank-you-for-letting-me-stay-in-your-Paris-flat gift? Ixnay the wine and get them what they never knew they wanted right here at mod design store Chiasso.

July 19, 2007 : Rose and Radish
|
How often does a diverse group of guys and dolls (think suits and creatives) stop to ogle the same shop window? 'Ooohs' and 'aaahs' are exactly what San Francisco-based Rose and Radish incited a few evenings ago.
A self-described 'gallery of modern design objects,' Rose and Radish chooses a new theme every three months and showcases pieces unified by the theme. Lucky for us, the current theme is Tea Time and we are over the moon that we can shop the pieces online.
Find sweet, sophisticated and hip treasures for your home like delectable cupcake bowls (fab for storing your baubles or cotton balls), mugs with split personalities, mad hatter tea sets, cool cutlery, frame-worthy tea towels, drool-worthy candles (great hostess gifts), artful objects and much, much more.
Click to shop Rose and Radish online.
P.S. Looking for more style inspiration? Be sure to browse their gallery of previous themes as well as their blog.

July 18, 2007 : Delight In Style
|
If BussBuss were an actual boutique, it would be Delight. Featuring cool, fun, fabulous gifts, accessories and design and shopping goodness, Delight's goal is to put the happy back in shopping. They've succeeded.
What's really fun is that everyday at noon central, a new item is posted and at special savings too -- just for the day. If you love it, nab it right away at the special price. There's a 30-day store as well that items go into if they haven't sold out, which is equally divine for procrastinators like, um, us.
Scope out today's adorable Loop clutch and browse the store for hip Envirosax (by far the cutest and most functional reusable bags we've seen yet), mojito muddlers, haute hostess gifts and oodles more here at Delight.
P.S. Delight loves BussBuss as much as we heart them and is offering 15% off purchases of $30+ exclusively to BussBuss readers. Simply enter code BUSSBUSS at checkout!

July 12, 2007 : Oh, Rosanna
|
Summer's all about taking the time to celebrate the sweet moments in life. Dripping ice cream cones, last-minute roadtrips to the beach, staying up late and watching bad TV and giggling with good friends.
And we can think of nothing sweeter than Rosanna's Soda Fountain collection (which BussBuss giddily received as a wedding prezzie -- perf since our vows included milkshakes for life!).
Retro reminders of childhood in yummy sherbet shades, how could you resist a set of milkshake cups that come in an adorable hexagon gift box?
We're also drooling over the Playing House collection of cake stands. Yum.
Browse all of the dinnerware and accessories collections right here at Rosanna.

June 29, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: Modishoppe
|
In celebration of independent design and the success of her indie shopping blog Modish, Jen Coray opened the virtual doors to Modishoppe in April 2007.
Since, she's been featuring a coolly edited collection of handmade goods that span from handbags, hoodies and jewelry to paper, home and gifts. It's like shopping Etsy but with a really in-the-know friend (i.e. her keen eye for hip handcrafted treasures does the digging for you).
We're especially fond of the animal-laden accessories, such as the birdie keychains by Kwoozy and the elephant wristlets by Blissful. But we're not all about fauna, we need our flora fix too. Enter Brooke Medlin's rose-shaped earrings.
Both the beauty and the curse of Modishoppe is that Coray only carries a few (sometimes only one) of each item, so if you see something you love, scoop it up fast before it's gone forever. The upside? No fear of ever having the same thing as anyone else and a constantly changing collection.
Scope out all the current treasures here at Modishoppe.
P.S. Modishoppe loves BussBuss too and is offering 10% off with code bussmod at checkout exclusively to our readers!

June 28, 2007 : Home Hip Home
|
We've been in major home redeco mode lately, scooping up fab pieces from vintage stores in hopes of glamming up our flat. But we still need some key quirky accessories to create that very Jonathan Adler 'happy chic' aesthetic that had us at hello.
Enter Shopmodi, the hip home accessories and gift shop serving up conversation pieces at Ikea prices.
Take the Tord Boontje for Artecnica midsummer light for instance, an unusually beautiful chandi of sorts, crafted from Tyvek, that would look great over a dining room table in white or hot pink.
We're also huge suckers for anything Mr. P, who helps keep our computer and iPod cables in check and our towels off the floor, while making us giggle.
We also can't wait to use Rob Brandt's porcelain crushed cups that look like plastic cups at our very belated housewarming party. So very post-mod eco-chic.
Click to see all the fab wares, which make perf hostess gifts, here at Shopmodi.
P.S. BussBuss readers receive an exclusive 20% off of orders over $20 with code BUSS0607 at checkout!

|
June 21, 2007 : Bunny Maxwell
|
According to Bunny herself, Bunny Maxwell is a former Bond Girl and Martha Stewart stunt double who never underestimates the importance of a good (well-decorated) party.
We're totally on board with that and completely in love with Bunny's irreverent sense of humor and style. Like shopping the hippest of the hip from all of our fave design blogs (think I Dream of Jeannie meets Shelterrific), we're loving the collection of posh pillows, haute home accessories, hip hostess gifts, Bond Girl-worthy bedding and new Thomas Paul rugs.
Be among the first to scope out the fabulousness that is Bunny Maxwell, the fun new modern home decor and accessories boutique.
P.S. BussBuss bunnies take $20 off orders of $100+ with code BUSS20 and $10 off orders of $50+ with code BUSS10 at checkout.

June 20, 2007 : Love, Me
|
Wedding season is in full swing and we can think of no bigger name in the wedding industry than Mindy Weiss. The 'it' celebrity wedding and party planner has lavished her chic taste on Jessica and Nick, Gwen and Gavin, Trista and Ryan and Charlie and Denise, to namedrop a few. And while not all the marriages have lasted, the stylish memories live on forever.
And now, with the opening of her new online bridal boutique and gift shop, even those of us not trailed by paparazzi can get our French-manicured hands on glam gifts, accessories, favors and more (even honeymoon and baby gifts too).
Imagine Plum Party meets Spoon Sisters with a sprinkle of girly sweetness thrown in for good measure. Love, Me serves up everything from hip flasks to vintage travel train cases to rhinestone and croc domino sets, lollypop favors, martini shakers and panties of the week.
Explore and find eternal fabulousness when you shop Love, Me.

June 15, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: Etsy
|
{Dying to see the Haute Shop of the Week? Let's get it on, style lover!}
We must confess, BussBuss has quite the addictive personality (very La Lohan of us, we know). In fact, we've considered checking into rehab on more than one occasion for our addiction to milkshakes, vintage dresses and cupcakes, to confess a few.
But our latest obsession these days has been over the indie goodness that is Etsy. In case you've been shopping under a rock for the past year or two, Etsy is the spot to find handmade clothing, accessories, home goodies and gifts direct from the artists, crafters and designers themselves (from all over the world).
Think of it as a hipster Ebay, minus the stress of bidding. The best part? Everything is surprisingly affordable (no retail markup rocks!) and you can bookmark your favorite sellers and then browse by who their fave sellers are too. It's never-ending indie awesomeness.
Discover your faves, and prepare to join us in rehab, here at Etsy.

June 14, 2007 : Wow Them With Uncommon Goods
|
{Knock. Knock. Anybody home for our first installment of Home Thursdays? Peachy.}
Last year, we waxed stylosophical about the amazing floating bookshelves. Now, we're even giddier because there's a floating shelf for our bathrooms, too.
The Bathroom Conceal Shelf takes towel storage to new heights by making towels appear to magically float in thin air. Tada!
The secret? The powder-coated steel shelf becomes invisible when a towel is wrapped around it, allowing you to stack more towels on top of the first one. Amaze your guests, and add a bit of wonder to your daily routine, right here at Uncommon Goods.
P.S. Find more creatively designed and unusual home accessories here at Uncommon Goods.

June 13, 2007 : Baker's Man
|
{Hello, gifted. Are you ready for your first installment of Gifted Wednesdays? Of course you are! Let's see what prezzies await...}
There are three things we're passionate about here at BussBuss: innovation, style inspiration and instant gratification. Make that four: brownies. And there's nothing better than brownie edges. Can we get an amen? And we can think of no man (in his right mind) who would disagree.
Really impress Dad, and his sweet tooth, this Father's Day with the mother of all inventions: The Baker's Edge Baking Pan.
In the same vein as the ingenious Muffin Top Pan, The Baker's Edge features a Nobel Peace Prize-worthy patented design that actually improves baking performance by allowing heat to circulate evenly, meaning no more undercooked middles and burned edges.
If you love the crunchy, caramelized, toasty edges of a brownie (or lasagna), this pan is for you...er, Dad.
Find it, along with a host of products and gifts that make life easier, right here at Solutions.

June 07, 2007 : Good Morning, Voco
|
The Brits have done it again. Say hello to Voco, the clock that will make you wonder how you ever lived without him. Instead of an annoying beeping welcoming you to the day, the polite, British voice of Stephen Fry (think Jeeves) greets you, his master, with messages like:
"Good morning, sir. I'm so sorry to disturb you but it appears to be morning. Very inconvenient I agree, sir. I believe it is the rotation of the earth which is to blame, sir."
Hit the button to turn your personal butler off, and you'll receive a fortifying message for the day. And, when it's time for bed, you'll receive a humorous, but oddly effective, 90-second relaxation exercise that will ease you, Master, into slumber.
An excellent gift for Father's Day, you can give the gift of admiration in the morning in true Brit-wit style and listen to and download many of the hilarious messages, right here at Voco.
P.S. 'Good Morning Madam' version arrives in July. We can't wait to be awoken to:
"Good morning, Madam. The current issue of Vogue has devoted its editorial to your sense of style, purpose, beauty and personal grandeur. It may be advisable to use the rear entrance today, Madam, to avoid the crowds."

June 05, 2007 : Give Dad the Sun at Elsewares
|
Dad gave you the moon and stars, so it's only right you return the favor by giving him the sun. In a jar.
Father's Day is right around the corner and we can think of no cooler (natch, warmer) gift than giving Pops a Sun Jar.
Made of frosted glass, the Sun Jar comes equipped with a solar-powered cell and rechargeable battery. Its energy efficient LED light will automatically switch on when it gets dark to give Dad five hours of candle-like light (awesome for summer nights on the porch), but also includes a switch to turn it off if he's not home to enjoy the glow. In a nutshell, it charges during the day and lights up at night.
He'll get a MacGyver-like kick out of it and you'll revel in knowing that, once again, you light up his life (fuggetabout those teen years).
Give him the sun, and check out all of the other hipster gifts and accessories, right here at Elsewares.
P.S. The Sun Jar makes a memorable summer hostess gift too!

May 29, 2007 : How Many Days Ago
|
Honestly, at the pace we all move these days, is it any wonder we can't remember the last time we watered the plants (circa 1999, perhaps?), opened that bottle of wine, changed the sheets, wore those jeans or popped those pills? The list goes on.
Thankfully, someone had the foresight to create the smartest clock/timer ever, the DaysAgo digital day counter. The clever tiny timer attaches to food containers and other things that need smart tracking -- think anything from those baby bottles or that pizza box in the fridge to your kitty's litter box to your eye shadow and tennies (to remind you of the last time you actually exercised).
To see all the clever uses, along with some handy and eye-opening freshness dates, and to buy your sanity, visit How Many Days Ago pronto.
P.S. This makes a super Father's Day gift! Think filter changes, oil changes, gardening, vitamins and meds, contact lens solution...

|
May 15, 2007 : Couture Cubes
|
Memorial Day is right around the corner, and if you're planning a fab bash, you should know that regular ice cubes are so last year.
Since love is in the details, why not add some rock 'n' roll spirit to your spirits with these clever guitar ice mixers? Or, glam it up with bling bling ice cubes in the shape of diamonds and cool jewels. They are a girl's best friend, after all. We're sure Holly Golightly, the ultimate hostess with the mostest, would agree.
Pick up both and soiree like you mean it right here at Calliope Boutique.

May 03, 2007 : Posh Across the Pond
|
It's hard to find a simple bag, with some spice, that can multitask, but our fave neighbors across the pond did.
The Silver Shopper Bag at Rockett St George is as good for toting groceries as it is your daily necessities like your files, lip gloss and light laptop or your gym essentials. Spot-on with spring's big trend of metallics, the glittering silver tote features a pop of hot pink with the interior lining and goes with literally everything in your closet.
Pick one up, and check out all of the new goodies like chic home accessories, fabulous gifts and more, right here at Rockett St George.
P.S. BussBuss readers receive an exclusive 20% off everything at Rockett St George with code BussBuss at checkout through May 31, 2007.

May 02, 2007 : Gimme the Dish
|
With Mother's Day just around the corner and summer party season gearing up, we think these gorgeous dishtowels (who even knew dishtowels could be gorgeous?) are a must.
Making a haute hostess gift, Mother's Day gift or treat for yourself, they're almost too pretty to use -- and, dare we say, inspire us to want to be in the kitchen.
If you can't fathom dirtying them either, use them as decor by hanging a row along an empty kitchen wall (hello, insta-art) or even use them to make pillows. Crafty couture is so 2007.
Pick up your faves right here at Anthropologie.
P.S. Mother's Day is SO next week, May 13th to be exact! Find a fab gift in our:
{Mother's Day Gift Guide}
{Spring Bling Jewelry Guide}
{Spring Bag Guide}
We did all the work. You take all the credit. That's what BussBuss is all about.

April 05, 2007 : Haute Housekeeping
|
Martha mavens know it's time to get in gear and do some spring cleaning. But it needn't be such an unsightly chore. Spruce things up on the home front with home-chic-home items that will inspire you to ditch the TiVo for some haute housekeeping instead.
We love this black-and-white ornamental ironing board cover at The Spoon Sisters so much that we just might start ironing again (even though we haven't in, say, seven years -- don't judge us!).
We'll also doll up with some designer dish gloves so when it's time to scrub-a-dub-dub our hands won't give our domestic goddess-loving ways away when we're rocking spring's new bling.
And, as if we could resist if we wanted to, we'll nab a matching Marilyn or Sweetheart apron by Carolyn's Kitchen too, so we'll look as good as our casa feels when we're playing 'Suzy Homefaker.'

March 26, 2007 : Personal Style
|
We have an addiction to all things graphic (um, design wise that is), so we were excited to see that our fave stationery site, iomoi, is having a one-day-only 20% off sale.
We're in deep, lustful love with the lovely custom coasters -- they can be monogrammed and make a lovely Easter or hostess gift (hint, hint). The vibe is very Kate Spade meets Kelly Wearstler (two of our favorite designing women).
Check them out, along with the fabulous paperweights, invitations and stationery, right here at iomoi.
p.s. Use code 'springthing2007' at checkout to receive 20% off on orders over $100 today only (3/26/07).

February 01, 2007 : Sleeping Beauty
|
Despite ugly being the new pretty (thanks to the very non-ugly and adorable Ugly Betty), a girl still needs all the help she can get in the beauty department. Which is why we're total suckers for these girly-glam 100% silk pillowcases. Not only do they prevent wrinkles by minimizing morning facial creases, they also extend the life of your hairstyle – plus, they simply feel like butta against your pretty lil face.
Each comes with a soft silk headband, too, to hold your tresses back while you rest. The only thing missing is your own private butler, but hey, the year is still young. Nab a case of your own right here at Intuition.

January 09, 2007 : Your Golden Globes
|
The Golden Globes are next Monday night and since we're thankful for Ugly Betty, Entourage and The Devil Wears Prada, we're feeling a little Globes par-tay coming on. We'll save time and make our lives easier by scoring nearly everything we need for said shindig online (human interaction -- who needs it?). We've spotted fab invitations and supplies at Plum Party.
On Our List:
*'Admit One' Invitations (never underestimate setting the mood)
*Hollywood Slate Board (to welcome guests and to intro new sips and sweets)
*Glamorous Tiaras (hello, props)
*'Admit One' Chocolates (décor and snacks in one!)
*Hollywood Street Signs (décor, dahlings)
*Alcoholics Unanimous Cocktail Napkins (in honor of La Lohan)
*Old-Fashioned Popcorn Boxes (sustenance is key and we know we can handle this much "cooking")
We'll Serve:
Tangerini Jolies -- not that she's been nominated for anything {insert evil laugh here}
To concoct your tangerine martinis, simply shake up two parts Tangerini mix (nab it here at Stirrings) with one part vodka over cold ice. Garnish with wax lips on the side (score your la lips here at Candy Crate).
While you're at Candy Crate, nab some old-fashioned movie candy too -- you can't serve popcorn without it! Towards the end of the soiree, we'll pop the golden bubbly, say when Best Picture is announced.
The Final Scene:
Of course, the only reason we'll be watching is to see what the stars are wearing. After the festivities, we'll click on over to our fave celeb style blogs for all the fash dish: People's awesome StyleWatch blog and the always hilarious Go Fug Yourself.

January 04, 2007 : This Lil Piggy
|
We love Pamela Barsky, Wishingfish, sales and this adorable piggy bank, so we're happier than a pig in a blanket to have them all come together in today's find. Cast from a mid-century mold, this lil piggy has been a hit in the design community this season, plus it even comes with real money inside (one piggy even contains a $100 bill!), and now it's on sale for over 50% off.
Find many other great items too in the post-holiday sale here at Wishingfish.

December 21, 2006 : Mirror Mirror
|
Lately we've been obsessed with anything mirrored or sparkly, in a Rat Pack/cocktail/1920s/French boudoir sorta way. Because we know all of those things are one in the same and all. Lots of glam, shimmer and decadence. 'Tis the season, right?
And we love that we can get a smidge of that vibe with these chic mirror coasters. They come in a perfect box for gift giving too, making them an ideal hostess gift this hoppin' holiday season. Pick up a set of four right here at CB2.

December 20, 2006 : Party Girl
|
With all the hoopla surrounding Christmas, we nearly forgot about New Year's Eve. Party anyone? If you decide to throw a festive bash, or even just a low-key game night (our fave!), be sure to head to party supply site Plum Party. You'll find everything you need to make your shindig fabulous, like these funny New Family cups that read "Once Removed," "Step," "By Marriage" and so on.
Or, if you're heading to a gracious host's home, be sure to bring an unexpected hostess gift. These glasses would work, as would about a million other things, here at Plum Party.

Score a 'whatever' cross stitch kit, or your choice of many more snarky and hilarious kits, right here at Subversive Cross Stitch.

November 09, 2006 : Rockett St George

Recently we got a note from our friends across the pond letting us know they had opened up a brilliant new online gift shop featuring accessories, home goodies and more from some of the UK's freshest talent. At first click, we were in love. Kind of like the Mighty Flirt of the UK, the shop specializes in up-and-coming British-based designers. We're fawning over all the gorgeous prints-intense pieces like the bags, pillows and robes.
Find gifts for guys, kids, your home and, always most importantly, YOU, right here at the scrumptious Rockett St George (and yes, they ship to the US).

October 30, 2006 : Anthro Obsession
|
We must admit we have a love/kinda-like relationship with Anthropologie. Sometimes we just can't get enough and others times it just feels like too much of the same (that unerring consistency being the reason for their success and appeal we know). Well, after getting their holiday catalog in the mail the other day, we are once again completely smitten. Filled with so many fabulous gifts, including monogrammed porcelain mugs, unbelievably adorable ornaments and stuffed toys, not to mention knit votives and candlesticks, we are in full-on lust mode.
Scope out the loot and find gifts for you and those you love right here at Anthropologie.

October 10, 2006 : Notepolish Paperie
|
We have a total style crush on new online shop Notepolish Paperie. They share our love for details, our desire to make the everyday special and more chic, and of course are as obsessed with paper as we are. In addition to the gorgeous invitations, announcements and stationery, we're particularly keen on the Coral & Bird Notebooks and the Retro Composition Books. Every girl should be able to jot down her to-do list, or hopes and dreams, in style. And the letterpressed Carbonated Coasters make us want to throw a shindig immediately. Afternoon mocktails anyone?
If you can't join us, join -- and shop -- Notepolish Paperie right here. And, get free shipping this month on orders of $25+ when you use code 'octsh' at checkout. Expires October 31, 2006.

October 06, 2006 : Gifted Wrap
|
One of our absolute favorite parts of gift giving (and receiving) is the presentation. We go gaga for a good wrap, pretty bow and clever card. We can't help it – we're aesthetic addicts. But that's probably no surprise. What was a surprise – an extremely happy one – was coming across Whimsy Press. Known for their "kick-ass wrapping paper," these paper pimps have stolen our hearts with everything from dachshund-bedecked wrap to wrap featuring skulls, tattoos, sushi and more.
We're especially keen on the D.I.Y. Doodle Wrap where we can break out the crayons (or markers) and design our own one-of-a-kind masterpiece. With the holiday season just around the corner, this is one site you'll want to bookmark. Scope out the whimsical wrap, along with ribbon, stickers, notecards and notepads, right here at Whimsy Press.

September 20, 2006 : Badda Ming
|
BussBuss has been on the hunt for a cute oil and vinegar set for about three years now. Seriously. We heart our caprese, okay! Finally, our day has come. The Ming Oil &Vinegar Set from Dutch design firm Jansen + Co. has taken the classic form of a wine glass and literally turned it on its head. And apparently the design is not just good looking but smart too – the stem reduces flow to just the right amount so it's easy to measure as your pour. Score.
The set comes in a cool box (re: makes a great hostess or housewarming gift) with a funnel for easy filling and even includes a cleaning brush too. Our imaginary maid will love that. Scoop it up at the fabulous independent art and design shop Elsewares right here.

September 13, 2006 : Magic Beans
|
If you want to express thanks, good luck, love or happy birthday in the coolest way possible, have we got the thing for you. Message beans have your choice of sentiment lasered into one side and a complementary image lasered into the other (hearts, clovers, etc.).
All you have to do to see the "message" is grow the bean – and that's something even the black thumbs around here can do. Simply pull off the foil top and bottom (to let the water drain), add about a half-cup of water to the soil and in about a week the bean will poke through the soil revealing your special message – like magic.
Surprise someone you love – even if that someone is you (we heart you too) – right here at The Spoon Sisters.

September 11, 2006 : Fairy Dust
|
Ah, New York City. An island of energy, lights, 3AM Chinese takeout, shoe shopping for miles and tiny apartments. Tiny apartments that fill with dust so fast that we feel like we're constantly cleaning for an evil stepmother and two ugly stepsisters. While we love a clean apartment as much as the next gal, we loathe the act of cleaning (even of minimal square footage).
But these Cinderella-esque dustpans just might put us in the mood for some serious sweeping like the fairytale princess herself. To clean in style, bippity bop on over to Pylones USA right here.

August 31, 2006 : Loft Party
|
We are absolutely loving design and home décor shop Loft Party. It reminds us how good it is to be living in a loft, but also how important it is to have fun with design – no matter if you're in a loft, a studio, a McMansion or a dorm. Find everything from retro phones to French Bull serving platters to hip partyware and stylish Thomas Paul pillows. In a nutshell, everything you need to have a great-looking space while you throw great-looking parties.
Our fave thing right now? The most amazing selection of pillows. We're wavering between the poptastic prints and the natural Amenity line. Find your faves, along with great hostess gifts too, right here at Loft Party.

July 19, 2006 : That's French Bull
|
In college, our apartments were full of hand-me-downs from, gasp, our parents -- the stuff they didn't even want anymore: old couches, old dishwares, old dining room tables. It was a rite of passage. But now that we're living haute in the city, serving guests with Mom's discarded tableware -- so she could get new place settings -- just isn't, well, haute.
We love Jackie Shapiro's contemporary tableware collection, French Bull, at Plum Party. Be warned, you might not be able to stop at the matching flatware and plates. French Bull also has super cute coasters, salad servers and cake stands -- and even stationery too -- swoon! And with our recent obsession with black and white, we're coveting the Barcelona and Vine collections the most. Find your fave style and prepare to throw your own haute bash right here at Plum Party.

July 06, 2006 : Spoon Me
|
Ah, summer. BBQs, impromptu backyard bashes, rooftop parties. Do you really want to be the person who shows up with another bottle of wine? Get creative with your hostess gifts, and all other gifts for that matter, and prepare to do a little spooning. The gifted site The Spoon Sisters carries the cutest, quirkiest, coolest, most unique and super affordable gifts we've seen in ages. It's hard to pick favorites, but we have a few, such as the Cool Shooters (shot glasses made of ice!), 'ABC' cookie cutters (to create hilarious headless and limbless gingerbread men), glam designer dish gloves and the amazing Eggling (crack its top, give it some water and love and soon you'll be growing basil, mint or petunia). Check it all out and never be without a fab gift again at The Spoon Sisters.

June 29, 2006 : Jane's Addiction
|
Okay, we're obviously obsessed with trying to get organized and making our office as cute as a button (despite the piles of paper strewn across our desks). And one of our absolute favorite sites on the path to doing so is See Jane Work -- the destination for office style and organization. If you don't know about it yet, be forewarned: the site is addictive. No more ugly or boring office supplies, Jane is all about the colorful, chic and stylish. Fab file folders, lovely laptop cases (including our faves by MARKA), darling desktop accessories -- you name it, Jane's got it. Right now we're feeling quite moody so we're digging the Go Away door sign (not that we really have any doors in a loft, but it gets the point across, no?). Check it all out, including these adorable PepperPot business card holders that we can't live without, at See Jane Work here.

June 26, 2006 : Project Blueprint
|
We personally really love the new Martha mag Blueprint, a design and lifestyle mag targeting peeps our age (that would be young-at-heart stylistas with uncommonly haute taste, despite very common budgets). There were a few great ideas and projects, one of which we're implementing at BussBuss HQ is the carpet bulletin board. Snag a few Flor tiles, staple gun or nail them to your wall and voila, you've got a super chic bulletin board to pin up to-do lists, fab stationery, fabric swatches, magazine tearouts or whatever else inspires you. Score the project instructions here and the Flor tiles here. We chose five Walking on Clouds tiles in ballet slipper pink with one Amazing Lace flower tile in white for that graphic pop we love.
Love it too? Let us know what you'd design on our Haute Talk boards!

June 15, 2006 : Floating Shelves
|
Because BussBuss is in an open loft, we're constantly in pursuit of clever organizational solutions. We literally flipped (didn't know BussBuss could do cartwheels, did ya?) when we saw these invisible bookshelves in the latest Chiasso catalog. Simply set a large hardcover book into the shelf and then add a stack of books. The bottom book should be the largest in the stack. Two small, hidden rivets hold the hardcover book in place, so the bottom book becomes the shelf (each holds 15 lbs.). We're going to see if they can hold our unhealthy collection of mags too. Get organized in style for just $15 at Chiasso.

June 13, 2006 : Field Trippin'
|
It's no secret that we love the guys at Fred Flare and we are loving them even more right now as they're sending out their Daily Dispatches from Paris. They're just so fun and cute and make us want to call up our private plane and have a late dinner in Paris. You can read their Daily Dispatches here and see what's new and cool in Paris. As for what we're loving on their site? This adorable dachshund stitch-it kit – seriously, how cute are these pillows? Speaking of European adventures, one of our fave design blogs, design*sponge, also just got back from Paris and Amsterdam and is sharing her fab finds on her addictive blog– check them out and scope out what's new and cool in the design world. It's travel and shopping day without leaving your desk at BussBuss. Bon voyage!

May 31, 2006 : NoSpace
|
Ever in a sitch where you're having more people over to your place than you have chairs? If you live in a city, where space comes at a super pricey premium, you probably encounter this all the time. Unless you have no friends that is. If that's the case, no need to feel bad, there's always MySpace (though we personally don't think it's very haute – can someone tell us what we're missing, pretty please?). And focus. Right, back to the seating issue. The easiest and most affordable solution is to pick up a few cute floor cushions. And West Elm has some stylish ones on sale (along with graphic storage baskets and other cool homewares). Check it all out here, and maybe next time, those creepy MySpace friends can sit on the floor where they belong. Kidding – sort of.
Do you MySpace? Tell us on the Haute Talk Message Boards!

May 30, 2006 : Get Doorganized
|
Are you a smidge scatterbrained? While we think it can be endearing sometimes, at least we hope so as we suffer from this very same affliction, we also realize it can be a complete pain in the hooha – particularly when you're running late to a meeting or a flight and can't find your keys or cell phone. Which is why we're digging this very simple solution: The Doorganizer. Simply hang it on your door and stash your keys, cell phone, glasses or whatever you want. The back has a strap that even holds envelopes and newspapers (do people still read those?!). Or, pick up a previously featured Dani Organizer. You can hang it on your door too, but the cool part is you can carry it like a wristlet or stash it in your purse so you always know where your essentials are. Score The Doorganizer here or the Dani Organizer here, or get them both and be ultra-organized all the time. It's the new scatterbrained. Seriously!

May 25, 2006 : Exit9
|
We came across Exit9 in ReadyMade magazine, one of our fave mags ever (they essentially show you how to make the coolest hipster crafts), and couldn't believe we'd never heard of them -- especially since they're also in NYC. Holla neighbor! The quirky gift emporium, a mix between Fred Flare and Elsewares but with more edge, carries a fun assortment of gifts and accessories. Some of our fave finds include this oh-so practical mountable bottle opener (we hate having to dig through our drawers when we have friends over), this hilarious tennis/skulls tote, and this sweet piggy bank that makes deposits and withdrawals so much more fun. Check it all out here – it's a perf place to find hipster hostess gifts too, which will come in handy this Memorial Day weekend and all summer long.

May 09, 2006 : File Limbo
|
Getting our office organized is something we always aspire to, but seldom actually achieve. Instead of filing things as they come in, instead, papers and mail end up in large strewn piles destined for a messy and neglected existence. Which is why we really dig these In, Out and Limbo file folders by Bob's Your Uncle. At least we can take the first step in getting it together. Sure, everything will probably remain in the Limbo folder, but at least it won't be all over our desks. Get your office in shape with these fun file folders at fred flare here.

April 25, 2006 : Henry Road Less Traveled
|
We recently met newbie textile designer Paula Smail of Henry Road at a party in New York. We were immediately charmed by her infectious personality and voracious appetite for life and even more inspired that she had left a very cush, but ultimately dull, career behind to embark on a new passion (designing) because she felt that she should be living a more creative lifestyle. Huge supporters of taking the road less traveled, we were even further stoked when we saw her brilliant creations – extraordinarily colorful pillows, tablecloths, runners, napkins, tea towels, sachets, bags and even stationery, all designed by Paula herself and inspired by her childhood in South Africa and her global travels to Paris, London, New York and beyond. She now calls sunny Los Angeles home and we're sure it's decked out with her eclectic and cool creations -- and we want ours to be too. We'll be picking up some fabulously bold pillows to start and are contemplating the Coffee, Tea and Me tea towels or a tablecloth for Mom for Mother's Day. Check out the whole collection and pick out your faves at Henry Road (named after the road Paula grew up on).

April 13, 2006 : Prints Charming
|
Spring means but one thing to us here at BussBuss, and that my friends is entertaining. It's time to crawl out of couch-blanket-TV hibernation, pick up the tele and invite your friends (or better yet, send an adorable old school invite) over for some TGIS (thank goodness it's spring) party action. Whether it's a chic cocktail party in the city, a BBQ in the 'burbs, or a fab dinner party anywhere in between (the Hamptons, perhaps?), the whole reason we want to throw a bash is so we can sport a super adorable and retro-glam apron by Sommer Designs. The swoon-worthy prints are also irresistible in handbag and tote form (so Martha-esque -- we just picture strolling down the sidewalks of a resort town with one) and also make fab baby bags and burp cloths, too. Pick your poison (and keep Mother's Day in mind) at Sommer Designs. Plus, Haute Shoppers score an exclusive 20% off when you use code SPRINGFLING at checkout.

March 27, 2006 : Bless You
|
Seems like everyone is aahchooing all over the streets of Manhattan. Thanks, Mother Nature. How to keep stylish when you must have a stock of tissues at the ready? With a clever tissue holder, of course. For sneezing-on-the-go, a sparkly Whiting and Davis tissue holder is the most glam friend you can have. Pick one up in pink or silver at celebrity-fave shop Kitson. For sneezing at home, Lotta Jansdotter tissue box covers are a must. Score one in the pattern and color of your choice (organic or geometric) at Greener Grass Design. And to relieve your allergies altogether, score some drugs (the legal kind) at drugstore.com. While you're at it, you might as well start browsing the concealers in the beauty section since that red nose of yours isn't quite the trend you were hoping to set this spring. Gesundheit.

March 24, 2006 : Kiss Your Rear
|
BussBuss HQ is in the midst of making over our workspace and we've just found the most adorable must-have chair. Since BussBuss means 'KissKiss' in German, we're going to have to get two, one in red and one in hot pink. If you'd like to have your tooshie kissed in style, score a mod smooch chair of your own at Perpetual Kid (26"W. x 27"H).

March 15, 2006 : Home Slice
|
As spring starts to blow in (thank you, lawd!), we'll all hopefully start emerging from hibernation for some social gatherings. BussBuss, for one, is having a milkshake and french fry night this very Thursday, and we're sure many of you have dinner parties, afternoon teas, cocktail soirées and BBQs penciled in on your calendars to usher in the new season. And whether you're the hostess or the guest, we think you'll dig some of the new home items at Fred Flare – we're in lurve as usual. For instance, you can spruce up your digs or your host's with this adorable daisy grass mat ($24) or add some beary sweet style to the tabletop with these salt and pepper shakers. Or make like the cutest hostess on the block with an embroidered teacup apron – the teacups are also pockets! Get too cute for your own good at Fred Flare, and score free ground shipping too on orders over $20 when you use code "spruceup.0306" at checkout (expires 3/19/06; not valid on sale merch).

March 03, 2006 : Ice Ice Baby
|
If you're stuck in an apartment you love with a fridge that you hate, due to its non-existent automatic icemaker, then you know how difficult it can be to get good ice. It seems simple enough, but those whack plastic trays only give splintered cubes, half never wanting to come out. Luckily, the wonder that is silicone is taking a break from tata-enhancement to benefit the ice-frustrated everywhere. As great for freezing as it is for baking (and boosting), silicone ice cube trays rock. No cracking or splintered ice, the babies pop right out of the flexible non-stick trays, giving you bigger and better hunks of ice that seem to last longer too. And, if you're lucky enough to have a dishwasher, silicone ice cube trays are dishwasher safe too. Plus, they come in fun colors like bright orange, lime green and the more tradish cool blue. Pick some up for $4.95 each at Crate and Barrel here (trust us, they're worth it ten times over).

August 26, 2005 : The Coral of the Story
|
Sure, coral jewelry was oh-so trendy this summer, but that doesn't mean it's passé, and it certainly doesn't mean your home couldn't use a dose. Bright, earthy and cool, these stunning ceramic coral bowls will add a big punch to any table or space. They also make a fab gift for anyone who was so kind as to let you crash at his or her beach house this summer (hint, hint). Score a set of two for $98 at California-based Well Dressed Home.

|
July 05, 2005 : Chop Phooey
|
Okay, BussBuss has a deep, dark embarrassing secret that she's ready to purge. Are you ready for this jelly? BussBuss can't use chopsticks (gasp!). Her severe lack of coordination has lead to many restless and anxious dinners, where she's either resorted to using a fork (say it ain't so!) or, yup, her hands (eew!). Which is why she nearly did a back flip when she found these cool and colorful clothespin chopsticks. Spring-loaded to help the incompetent like BussBuss eat in sheer style, these clever chopsticks also make fun conversation pieces and are a bargain at just $3.95 each at gawd's gift to affordable and hip design, cb2.com.

If you're in the market for a cool stool and storage, you'll be happier than a kid in a candy shop when you take a peek at these original stools. Each has a giant screw inside, which means you can turn the top (whichever end you deem so) to make it taller or shorter or split it in half. Plus, it's hollow inside, so you can store your most random (or secret) possessions. Available in half white and half pink, green, red, orange or black for $79.99 at Target, for a limted time only.

From the preppy pink and green-striped shower curtain to the white faux leather trash can, cotton jar and tumbler, even down to the martini shower hooks. Give your bathroom that New Year's makeover it's been screaming for now!

It's sniffle season and until I can invent Snot-Be-Gone ™, I'm gonna have to keep on using old-fashioned tissues. But call me a tissue snob, I just hate those flower-covered, granny-looking tissue-box covers and a naked box is just so garish (the horror!). Fortunately, my obsessive compulsiveness has led me to a simple and stylish solution, or at least as stylish as a tissue holder can be. This stainless steel tissue ring, whose weight and size are carefully balanced to let you pull just one tissue through at a time, while the ring remains firmly planted on the stack, is just what my tissues are craving. If yours are screaming for a more mod home too, give it to them for $18 at momastore.org.

December 16, 2004 : All That Glitters
|
I don't know about you, but I want to add some color and funk to the ole Christmas tree this year. And since I'm not up for plunking down $1200 on the vintage pink metallic tree I saw in Martha Stewart Living magazine, I'll deck my Charlie Brown tree in vivid, sparkly ornaments instead. Dishing up fab ones this year is cb2.com. I love the pink and green glitter balls, the pink, yellow and orange droplet ornaments, the silver disco party ball ornaments and the round mirror ornaments. Scoop up some sparkle for just $.95 to $2.95 each at cb2.com.

December 14, 2004 : Griddle Me This
|
When you live in the city, there's something you start to miss, besides space. It's grilling. Even if you have a balcony or rooftop, you're usually not supposed to grill on it. So what's a grilled grub-lovin' girl to do? Grill indoors of course. And no, not with gas! The electric Cuisinart Griddler not only lets you grill steaks, chicken, pineapple and veggies to delicious perfection, but also lets you griddle pancakes and french toast AND make mouth-watering paninis in no time flat. And the cool, compact retro-looking design ain't bad either. Ask Santa for one, for $129.99, at chefscatalog.com.

December 07, 2004 : Domestic Goddess Wannabe
|
Even though I haven't cooked anything for months, okay years, my current obsession is domestic goddess Nigella Lawson and her line of kitchenware. Much like herself, her designs manage to be modern yet warm at the same time, and I'm a sucker for that. So what do I fancy? Everything! Particularly the bulging egg-shaped ice cream bowls ($34.99) and mixing bowls ($69.99), as well as the clever serving hands ($21.99) -- great for dipping salad or pasta. They might even be good for a back rub…who knows. Scoop up a bit of goddess-like domesticity at armsteadsporch.com.

September 28, 2004 : Soy Wax On
|
Need a vacay but don't have the time or the piggy bank to take a proper one? Don't fret. Just fill the bath with steamy water and bubbles, pour yourself some bubbly, crank the Andre 3000 (or Norah Jones -- to each her own) and get ready to travel the globe from your rub-a-dub tubby tub. How? With Essence of Ahurani's Sophisticated Traveler candle collection. Founders Allison DeBiase and MeChell Jabri have traveled the globe (lucky ducks), gathering delicious and exotic scents, and pouring them into their soy-based candle collection. We love lighting up a Mist, breathing in the fresh, clean, lemony and jasmine scent of the Caribbean, and singing "No Woman, No Cry." Jaunt off to Europe with a Tomato Leaf or Spain with a Sangria -- each destination will only cost you $14 at essenceofahurani.com. No passport required.

|
Faithful readers know that BussBuss is forever on the hunt for clever storage and organization options. On our most recent hunt, we came across deer, sculpted deer hangers that is. Splurge for one or a whole family, each is $160, at chocosho.com.

Ever been in the kitchen, binging on a jar of Nutella, and just at the moment you need your dish towel to wipe away any and all evidence, it's nowhere to be found? No? Oh. Well, perhaps you'll still relate. Some clever Germans came up with a fun solution: The Apron Belt. A great hostess gift, too, you can play Martha for $22 at mousseshop.com.

May 24, 2004 : Getting Toasty
|
Mornings suck as it is. Which is why I make it a point to never, ever schedule anything before 2pm. It's just good common sense. But if you do have to drag yourself out of your cushy feather bed, you might as well do so with some semblance of humor. Here to help: these hilarious and adorable toasters, decked out with cow prints, pig faces and more. Apparently they're from France, and here we thought they only found Jerry Lewis to be funny. Scoop one up for $80 at citylimit.com. Perhaps waking up before noon isn't so bad after all. Nah.

May 07, 2004 : I'd Like To Place an Order To Go
|
More than once I've claimed, "I'm too young to cook," when questioned about my poor dietary standards. And while that grows less true every day, that won't stop me from purchasing one of the cleverest little items I've seen in a long time, this Takeout Menu Organizer. No longer shall I rifle through my junk drawer for my dinner options. Instead, I'll conveniently organize all my menus in this grease-resistant binder. Comes with an accessories pouch, six section dividers, 30 clear sleeves for menu storage, one order-taking pad, one pad of ratings stickies, two pens, two dry-erase pens for writing directly on clear sleeves, six interior pages with frequently called numbers, tips for takeout, a sheet of 38 cuisine tab labels, and the essay on the Definitive History of Takeout, all for only $28! Such a great gift for the friend who hates to cook, bachelors, or any city dweller really. Get your fill at the always forward-thinking shopintuition.com.

April 08, 2004 : Plant One Right Here
|
I know, I know, gardening seems so traditional. So Martha. So Nantucket. But it doesn't have to be that way. Instead, spruce up your porch with these modern hanging planters. The sleek stainless steel provides a nice contrast to the beautiful buds you'll be watering (yes, you do have to water them), and the industrial cable holds up to 25 lbs., making them as sturdy as they are purdy. Available in 8" and 10" sizes for $48 and $58 respectively at chiasso.com.

April 07, 2004 : Big Gulps
|
So remember how BussBuss was sick on Friday? Well, silly BussBuss thought it was all better on Monday, only to be completely and unpleasantly surprised when it woke up on Tuesday morning. The bug was back. Somebody get me a fly swatter! But I digress. After BussBuss was pretty sure it was going to die, yes die, it seems to have recovered yet again. But this time, it's not taking any chances. BussBuss has learned it needs two things: rest and water. Oops, make that three things: rest, water and a servant. Good help is so hard to find these days, but luckily a good water bottle isn't. We like this stylish one by Sigg for just $16. Scoop it up at the very stylish and ironically named happytuesday.com.

|
I'll keep this short and sweet. Who doesn't like s'mores? The name in itself implies you'll always want more, or should I say mores? So why not have a handy lil s'mores maker of your own? It's always exciting to stumble upon another really cool shopping site. This time I've tripped all the way over to North Carolina. Ouch! August 28, 2003 : BLIK GRAPHICS: $30+
|
Could these be any cooler? I think not! What am I talking about? Only the most fabulous (and obvious) soultion to designer laziness/boredom since...well, ever. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but since I can't think of anything clever to say we'll stick with "well, ever." Capiche? Basically these are wall decals (stickers if you will) that will give any space that kick in the pants it needs to be cool and interesting. Cheaper and easier than painting, cheaper than buying art, and best of all, for the commitment-phobes out there, you can change them out as often as your wallet will shell out another $30 or $40. Made from self-adhesive vinyl film, you can literally peel and stick these babies onto any flat surface such as a wall, ceiling, tabletop or floor. Get your Blik Graphics at velocityartanddesign.com. Trading Spaces, I hope you're reading...

May 06, 2003 : HEART HOT WATER BOTTLE: $12
|
It's raining here in Austin, which makes me wanna curl up on the couch, watch cheesy re-runs and wallow in self pity. But to do that alone would make me a loser...which is why I'd take along this ultra-snazzy accessory -- because although I may be a loser, that doesn't mean I have to look like one. Toss that ugly utilitarian-looking water bottle in the dumpster and replace it with one of these heart-shaped doozies instead -- sure to make you feel better in your times of need. Snag one now for $12 at the always cool uncommongoods.com.
