April 07, 2008 : New Map City: Paris, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Beyond!
|
Save for cupcakes and milkshakes, there's not much BussBuss loves more than traveling.
Which is just one reason we're so in love with these chic city totes.
Besides being adorable and oh so very practical (no more fussing with unsightly maps when you're visiting your favorite locales), Maptotes are also very eco-fabulous, as they make a great replacement for any plastic bag.
Also, being the typography junkies we are, we totally dig how the fonts match the vibe of their respective cities.
At just $15 a pop, it's never been easier to travel the world (and your fave nabe) in style.

April 01, 2008 : Do You DaWanda? Shop the Etsy of Europe!
|
Ever wonder what designers across the pond are up to? Not the big names you can get in every major city, but the independent designers you'd find on sites like Etsy here in the States?
Wonder no more.
DaWanda, the Etsy of Europe, will let you get your fix.
And even though exchange rates aren't exactly in our favor these days, you can still score great deals.
For instance, this darling teapot necklace made from polymer clay would make such a sweet birthday or Mother's Day gift and costs just $6 EUR plus $2 EUR to ship via USPS Priority Mail (if math hurts your head -- and we feel your pain, that means you'll pay about $12 and get your goodies from Sofia, the designer in Bulgaria, in 7-10 days).
It's like having a jet-setting BFF send you goodies from afar, a style pen-pal of sorts -- but better because you get to pick them out yourself.
Way more affordable than booking a ticket to Europe, stroll the virtual market and impress your friends with one-of-a-kind gifts, art and fashion.
Take a trip to DaWanda!

March 31, 2008 : Shop We Love: Pop Your Collar at Gargyle
|
If you enjoy sipping martinis in the parlor, poppin' collars, crests, tennis, argyle socks and the general country club lifestyle, then click your croquet-loving self on over to Gargyle, stat.
Born out of a love for early country club lifestyle, Gargyle aims to revive and modernize its spirit.
Think less Ralph Lauren and more Built by Wendy: younger, edgier, but still aspirational and supremely well-edited.
We're loving Valentine dresses, Samantha Pleet rompers, Giles & Brother jewelry, Lorick frocks (by the designer who ghost-designed Blair Waldorf's mom's collection on Gossip Girl -- that's a mouthful), United Bamboo and Rachel Comey shoes and Karen Walker sunnies.
There are lots of finds marked down hundreds of dollars, fitting our very non-country club budget.

March 21, 2008 : Good Friday at the Candy Store Collective
|
Easter means lots of things to lots of people, but one thing it means to us is candy.
So we're celebrating with a virtual stroll of Candy Store Collective.
And we've got a sweet tooth for Kuhn Keramik's ceramic latte bowls, glazed in pale ice-creamy hues and adorned with vintage line drawings of pigs, beds, bees and trains. In a word: sweet.
We're also oddly drawn to Laura McKibbon's six shooter dish -- perhaps it's the mix of the hard subject matter with the soft pastely hues.
Find more sweet ceramics by faves like Alyssa Ettinger, jewelry, paper, decor and more when you pop into Candy Store collective.

If you love Etsy, chances are you're going to la-lurve Supermarket, too.
Featuring great design directly from the designers, you can literally spend hours treasure hunting everything from wall graphics to jewelry to art, gifts, stationery, home decor and just about everything your independent-design-loving self can handle.
We're weak in the knees over Three sheets 2 the wind's lovely linen pillows and art and gorgeously simple placemats by 12fifteen paper goods.
And we love the simplicity of Austin-based jewelry designer Anne Kiel's hammered stacking rings and the fabulously modern burst of bold color via her satellite rings -- just perfect for spring.
Unearth your favorite treasures at Supermarket.

January 30, 2008 : For the Love of Vintage: Blue Bell Bazaar
|
The difference between a nice home and a fabulous home all comes down to personal accessories.
And by personal, we don't mean those same vintage-style posters that grace the walls of every yuppie home in America.
Think more Ruthie Sommers and Kelly Wearstler than Pottery Barn and Z Gallerie.
It's those quirky little pieces you've collected over the years that tell a story about you and your fabulously unique personality.
Where to find one-of-a-kind home accessories without trolling the flea markets of the world?

January 29, 2008 : Conversation Bracelets: Jessica Kagan Cushman

Conversation Hearts? So five mins ago.
Conversation bracelets? Now we're talking.
For Valentine's Day, why not gift your favorite girl (you) and a make a statement with a witty Jessica Kagan Cushman bracelet?
Phrases we're fond of?
Truly fabulous people never get dressed before lunchtime.
Out of my mind; back in five minutes.
When I'm good I'm very good but when I'm bad I'm better.
All right Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close up.
Do you have any idea who I am?
I want to be the girl with the most cake.
You can agree with me or you can be wrong.
Why?
Because I said so, that's why.

January 28, 2008 : Prints Charming: For the Love of Hayden-Harnett
|
With Valentine's Day just about a fortnight away, it's only fitting to dish about our love of New York-based boyfriend-girlfriend design duo Hayden-Harnett.
We've waxed poetic about the up-and-coming label in the past. First there were those bags, then those darling coin purses and accessories, then their debut apparel line.
Now we feel like we've fallen in love all over again with their latest clothing and accessories offerings.
Their use of French artist Paule Marrot's prints and artwork (Jackie O. loved Marrot as well, so we're in good company) is brilliant. From the dresses to the trenches to the bags, it all feels very Diane von Furstenberg in the '70s, but with a distinctly modern and unique twist. Think mod-safari chic.
One visit will have you feeling like jetting off to somewhere exotic and doing something different for a change. Like showing up to work on time (imagine that), this time with all eyeballs on your fab new look.
While checking out all the new goodies, be sure to scoop up some fantastic finds in the sale section. They're going fast, so make like a cheetah -- remember, it's a jungle out there.

October 11, 2007 : Right Said Fred
|
Life's full of ups and downs, so when we're feeling down and want an insta-lift, we can always count on Fred Flare for retail therapy.
Full of the quirky, silly, happy, sweet, retro and insanely affordable, Fred Flare is all about having fun and never growing up. And, in their own words, they have totes great gifts too!
Currently on our wishlist? Scented lollipop earrings, classic pink-wheeled roller skates, a cozy pony scarf, the Holly Golightly sleep mask and a gemstone newsboy cap, cuz a girl can never have too many jewels.
We also love the kawaii cute grocery totes, which prove that going green doesn't have to mean boring.
And, if everyone you know seems to have a baby and people won't stop asking when you're going to have one, simply wear the hilarious Paul Frank baby on board tee.

August 30, 2007 : Sweet Petaline
|
When it comes to home decor and fashion, we think it's best when your accessories are as unique as possible. They're those statement pieces that really show who you are and your personal style. Are you really a mass-produced poster kind of girl? We didn't think so.
Which is why we're loving the new boutique Petaline. Selling a well-curated selection of handmade, one-of-a-kind home accessories, art, photography, jewelry, bags and clothing from Pacific Northwest artists, Petaline is a rare jewel -- a spot to find things that are actually made with heart.
Can we be expected to resist pillows by Kristin Loffer Theiss? She freehand draws each one with her sewing machine, like an etch-a-sketch (re: sew amazing).
Or Kate Endle's original collages (so sweet and so affordable).
And, of course, we believe you should look as good as your home, which is why we're loving the gorgeous bags by Jamie Irene and Sabrina Love Handbags, as well as Suzabelle's statement trench coat and Keri D'Angelo's earrings.
Find your own favorites, and save 20% with code BUSS20PETAL at checkout through September 30, 2007, at Petaline.

August 28, 2007 : Mad for Mohop
|
Louboutins? So last season. Also so mass fashionista. Searching for something truly one of a kind, under the radar, comfy and much more affordable, especially when you realize how many pairs of shoes you get in just one?
Look no further than Mohop.
Custom-made by designer Annie Mohaupt in her Chicago studio, Mohop is that rare experience where fabulous customer service, fabulous packaging and fabulous product create an online shopping trifecta.
Composed of rubber soling made from recycled tires (very eco-chic), a Finnish birch plywood core, and topped with various select veneers, what really makes Mohop shoes unique is the patent-pending strapping system, where you can customize your shoes by changing the ribbons that tie the shoes on (it's super easy and fun!).
How does it work? Once at Mohop, select your heel height. Then choose your fave base style. Next, find your exact size by printing out a paper cutout (so much more fun than checking Perez for the latest H'wood scoop -- trust us). Then, select the ribbons you want.
Different lengths and styles of ribbons can be used to achieve a virtually infinite number of looks with just one pair of wooden bottoms (we heart versatility). As Annie says: "Now anybody can play Imelda Marcos without requiring the budget and storage space for 5,000 shoes."
Before checking out, be sure to use coupon code BUSSMO25 for a lovely 25% off exclusively for BussBuss readers (expires September 30, 2007 so do not delay).
Prepare to fall in love at Mohop.

August 24, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: Kim&Maki
|
The beauty of fashion and online shopping is that there's always something new to discover. But sometimes a girl feels like she's seen it all. Especially when it comes to jewelry.
Which is why we were happily, and admittedly surprisingly, wowed by the newest and coolest jewelry boutique on the block, Kim&Maki.
Carrying lots of up-and-coming jewelry designers from Paris to Tokyo to New York and everywhere in between, it's a new eye-candyland and we're ready to play.
We especially love the tough-luxe vibe of Orner and also fell for Marjorie Victor's organic and artistic pieces, as well as the vintage-inspired jewelry by Medecine Douce and the crafty-cool of Mur.
Discover your fave designers and pieces, including rings, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches and hairpins, here at Kim&Maki.
P.S. Kim&Maki loves us too and is giving BussBuss readers an exclusive 30% off with code BUSSKM30 at checkout through September 24, 2007.

August 15, 2007 : The Fabulous Diaries
|
It's no surprise we like the good life and we love quirky and honest-to-a-fault designer Pamela Barsky (have you read her blog -- a tale of making it as a gift designer in LA, overcoming divorce and more?).
Her products have as much personality as she does and are as entertaining as she is, so it only makes sense that she's responsible for these fabulous entertaining journals.
They'll help you keep track of all your social events, from sharing a bottle of vino with friends to finally getting a table at the hottest restaurant in New York.
Choose from the Dinner Party Journal, the Restaurant Journal, the Wine Lover's Journal or the Recipes Journal to help keep track of your fabulous life.
Better yet, be fabu-less and get these for 50% off right here at See Jane Work.

August 14, 2007 : Presenting the New Laurel Denise
|
We love makeovers and we love Laurel Denise, so it's only fitting that we're extra excited about the new look, blog and designs at Laurel Denise.
Queen of exquisitely pretty and cool hand-written and hand-drawn personalized jewelry (that also happens to be wildly affordable), Laurel has added earrings and new necklace shapes and designs to her mix, as well as a brand new line of stationery the whole paper and gift community is abuzz over (or at least they're about to be).
It just makes sense to be able to get her lovely drawings in paper form: think birthday, greeting and notecards, journals, and soon, a calendar.
As Laurel says, "All pieces are inspired by vintage papers (or "found" papers)...old financial ledgers (hence, the graph paper) old library cataloging cards...just about anything that I feel has a story behind it."
Shop the latest and create a story of your own here at Laurel Denise.
P.S. Laurel Denise loves BussBuss too and is offering an exclusive 15% off with code BUSSFRIEND through August 31, 2007.

August 10, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: The Spoon Sisters

The Spoon Sisters is perhaps our favorite gift shop of all time.
Selling many of our fave products, style solutions and innovations, such as the Purseket, the Doorganizer, GalPals, Egglings, the Message Bean, Thumb Thing, the Takeout Menu Organizer, the DaysAgo Digital Counter, the Rear-View Computer Mirror, the Foot Petals Stiletto Kit, ABC Gingerbread Cookie Cutters and just about every clever product you've ever wanted for yourself or your loved ones, The Spoon Sisters is more a celebration of innovation and cottage industry than it is about selling products.
Fortunately, The Spoon Sisters love BussBuss just as much as we adore them and are offering an exclusive 20% off to BussBuss readers with code bussbuss at checkout through August 20, 2007.
So stock up on Christmas, baby, hostess and birthday gifts (um, for yourself of course), and save here at The Spoon Sisters.

August 01, 2007 : Vandalized Vintage
|
Warning: Immature Content
We're all about the art of the unexpected, which is why when we came across New Zealand-based Trixie Delicious, we were instantly smitten.
Tea and china are always so proper and stuffy, but not when Karen Dennis of Trixie Delicious gets her naughty little hands in the mix.
Her vandalized vintage plates mix the soft and pretty with the edgy and cheeky. The Upper East Side with the Lower East Side. Think Shabby Chic meets Sarah Silverman. Rachel Ashwell would be quite surprised indeed.
Giving new life to old dishes (oh so very green), imagine your guests' reactions when you serve tea on the Seven Deadly Sins -- or Poisons -- plates. Or, when you use your new plate as decor -- we heart the Clueless plate, but get a kick out of the Starf*cker one as well.
Trixie also does custom work on plates, shakers and teapots, so feel free to choose your own word(s).
Get a little naughty and give the gift of the unexpected (so fab for your hip friends having an untradish wedding) at Trixie Delicious.

July 24, 2007 : Introducing MABeL
|
Always on the style hunt for great handbags, we've giddily found our next prey. And a designer we're sure is a rising star in the design world.
MABeL handbags by Jessica Miller-Webster is a young, cool collection of ruffle totes, oversized bow bags, heart-handle clutches and more handmade in Chicago by the designer herself.
The aesthetic? Think Betsey Johnson meets Marc Jacobs. Something that cleverly tows the line between Teen Vogue and Nylon.
These are bags with personality that stand out on their own, but maintain a hip sophistication. Think contrasting color and print linings for girls who embrace their inner child. Are you a city girl who sees her bag as her car? These bags are for you.
Visit the MABeL handbags site here to view all the styles and learn more about the designer.
Shop the MABeL Etsy store in a click.
Also, check out MABeL on MySpace to see even more pictures and styles -- custom orders are taken (any color or pattern), so feel free to get creative.

July 11, 2007 : Dear Diary
|
If there's one thing we know for certain, it's that life is short. Which means we all should be making the most out of every moment. And as sentimental memory-recording junkies, we think diaries and journals are divine.
Gift someone you love -- and yourself -- with the ingenious 5 Year Diary. Travel forward and back in time as you record daily entries. How? Each page represents one day across five years, so you can read what you were doing two years ago as you write your new entry.
For those wondering if you should quit your boh-ring j-o-b to pursue your big fantasy dreams, we think this will help. After all, who wants to read that they were doing the exact same un-stimulating thing five years ago that they are doing today?
A great birthday gift and a perfect prezzie for new parents or recent grads, score Tamara Shopsin's fab 5 Year Diary at Rare Device.

June 29, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: Modishoppe
|
In celebration of independent design and the success of her indie shopping blog Modish, Jen Coray opened the virtual doors to Modishoppe in April 2007.
Since, she's been featuring a coolly edited collection of handmade goods that span from handbags, hoodies and jewelry to paper, home and gifts. It's like shopping Etsy but with a really in-the-know friend (i.e. her keen eye for hip handcrafted treasures does the digging for you).
We're especially fond of the animal-laden accessories, such as the birdie keychains by Kwoozy and the elephant wristlets by Blissful. But we're not all about fauna, we need our flora fix too. Enter Brooke Medlin's rose-shaped earrings.
Both the beauty and the curse of Modishoppe is that Coray only carries a few (sometimes only one) of each item, so if you see something you love, scoop it up fast before it's gone forever. The upside? No fear of ever having the same thing as anyone else and a constantly changing collection.
Scope out all the current treasures here at Modishoppe.
P.S. Modishoppe loves BussBuss too and is offering 10% off with code bussmod at checkout exclusively to our readers!

June 22, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: Cut + Paste
|
As one of the first independent online shops on the block, Jenny Kwok's Cut + Paste has been helping pave the way for emerging designers and crafters since 2002 with its well-curated collection of handmade clothing, jewelry, accessories, paper products and more.
And it's only gotten better over the years, serving up gigantic doses of hipness and featuring over 300 designers along the way. The best part is knowing you'll never be wearing the same thing (or giving the same gift) as someone else when you shop at Cut + Paste.
If absolutely forced to pick favorites (it's like choosing your fave offspring), we'd point to Erica Weiner's cicada earrings, smil's love doll brooch, Desira Pesta's diamond print tunic, and pinecone & chickadee's cards.
But we suggest you set aside a few minutes (okay, hours... okay, days) to drool over all the Partners in Craft and find your own faves right here at Cut + Paste.

June 15, 2007 : Haute Shop of the Week: Etsy
|
{Dying to see the Haute Shop of the Week? Let's get it on, style lover!}
We must confess, BussBuss has quite the addictive personality (very La Lohan of us, we know). In fact, we've considered checking into rehab on more than one occasion for our addiction to milkshakes, vintage dresses and cupcakes, to confess a few.
But our latest obsession these days has been over the indie goodness that is Etsy. In case you've been shopping under a rock for the past year or two, Etsy is the spot to find handmade clothing, accessories, home goodies and gifts direct from the artists, crafters and designers themselves (from all over the world).
Think of it as a hipster Ebay, minus the stress of bidding. The best part? Everything is surprisingly affordable (no retail markup rocks!) and you can bookmark your favorite sellers and then browse by who their fave sellers are too. It's never-ending indie awesomeness.
Discover your faves, and prepare to join us in rehab, here at Etsy.

June 05, 2007 : Give Dad the Sun at Elsewares
|
Dad gave you the moon and stars, so it's only right you return the favor by giving him the sun. In a jar.
Father's Day is right around the corner and we can think of no cooler (natch, warmer) gift than giving Pops a Sun Jar.
Made of frosted glass, the Sun Jar comes equipped with a solar-powered cell and rechargeable battery. Its energy efficient LED light will automatically switch on when it gets dark to give Dad five hours of candle-like light (awesome for summer nights on the porch), but also includes a switch to turn it off if he's not home to enjoy the glow. In a nutshell, it charges during the day and lights up at night.
He'll get a MacGyver-like kick out of it and you'll revel in knowing that, once again, you light up his life (fuggetabout those teen years).
Give him the sun, and check out all of the other hipster gifts and accessories, right here at Elsewares.
P.S. The Sun Jar makes a memorable summer hostess gift too!

May 13, 2007 : Happy To Be Bleu
|
In-the-know and hard-to-satisfy stylistas know to head to Le Train Bleu to fulfill their fashion fantasies. We're loving the new crop of spring/summer goodies and designers, especially the creations by up-and-comers Vena Cava. The Zumi Dress and Caraway Cardigan, both featuring black Havasu print on cream backgrounds, show edgy sophistication and are just the right choice for that Gatsby lawn party this summer (even if said party solely exists in your daydreams).
Too rich for your blue blood or haven't quite inherited your trust fund yet? Pick up a pair of Rosemary's Flats in white -- the perfect summer flat for a very accessible price.
Be bleu right here at Le Train Bleu.

May 03, 2007 : Posh Across the Pond

It's hard to find a simple bag, with some spice, that can multitask, but our fave neighbors across the pond did.
The Silver Shopper Bag at Rockett St George is as good for toting groceries as it is your daily necessities like your files, lip gloss and light laptop or your gym essentials. Spot-on with spring's big trend of metallics, the glittering silver tote features a pop of hot pink with the interior lining and goes with literally everything in your closet.
Pick one up, and check out all of the new goodies like chic home accessories, fabulous gifts and more, right here at Rockett St George.

February 22, 2007 : dejarnette new orleans
|
Continuing on our quest to highlight Louisiana-based designers, we're thrilled to feature dejarnette new orleans by Katherine Dejarnette Babin, who has become one of our favorite independent jewelry designers over the last year. We especially love the Objet Trouve (found object) collection, featuring uncommonly cool and romantic necklaces from vintage finds. Along with the Carnival piece, a heavy, pewter vintage Mardi Gras doubloon dating back to 1967, we really heart the numbered necklaces as well as the Special Delivery envelope locket.
Be sure to scope out the Elegant collection as well, where you'll find a remix of vintage finds and modern day materials like wrought iron earrings and necklaces. If you see something that makes you swoon, scoop it up stat, as these pieces are one of a kind. Find your faves here at dejarnette new orleans.

February 05, 2007 : Buzz Worthy
|
We've always loved One Good Bumblebee and recently found out that the sweet online shop has expanded to carry not only creator Katey Nicosia's designs, but goodies by lots of others too. Best described as Fred Flare meets Cut x Paste meets Day Lab meets See Jane Work -- yet with its own distinct flair for the cutesy chic, we're over the moon.
What's a girl to find? All sorts of random adorableness, such as the cutest paperclip contraption ever, ice cream pens, Cinnamon Toast Crunch lip balm (yum!), a singing bird cage, vintage airmail envelopes, darling journals and diaries, art, jewelry and oodles more. Can't make up your mind? Nab a Jar of Whimsies, filled with vintage trinkets and whimsical treasures, right here at One Good Bumblebee.

Sometimes you just have one of those days – or weeks – or when it comes to the holidays, those months. For those times, we like to visit Subversive Cross Stitch. They make us smile (for others, they may simply offend, to which we say 'whatever').
Score a 'whatever' cross stitch kit, or your choice of many more snarky and hilarious kits, right here at Subversive Cross Stitch.

November 09, 2006 : Rockett St George
|
Recently we got a note from our friends across the pond letting us know they had opened up a brilliant new online gift shop featuring accessories, home goodies and more from some of the UK's freshest talent. At first click, we were in love. Kind of like the Mighty Flirt of the UK, the shop specializes in up-and-coming British-based designers. We're fawning over all the gorgeous prints-intense pieces like the bags, pillows and robes.
Find gifts for guys, kids, your home and, always most importantly, YOU, right here at the scrumptious Rockett St George (and yes, they ship to the US).

November 03, 2006 : Fall for Space Mermaid
|
We see a lot of work by up-and-coming jewelry designers -- far more than any other genre in fact -- so it takes something special to stand out and catch our style-hungry eyes. As you can probably guess from their name, Space Mermaid is something special. Equal parts quirky, whimsical, girly and cool, we really love this LA-based line of handcrafted jewelry. Inspired by the sky and the sea, creatures real and imagined, we're totally smitten with the vintage-inspired collection.
Particular faves include the Golden Leaves earrings and the necklaces featuring owls and seahorses. Find something special for you (and maybe that special friend, too) right here at Space Mermaid.
Special for BussBuss readers: Enter 'bussbuss20' in the message section upon checkout and save 20% on all necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Your discount will be refunded when your order ships. Expires 11/10/06.

October 31, 2006 : Happy Halloween

Nothing could be more appropriate on this fine holiday than these absolutely adorable handmade spooky-cute plushies from Cuddly Rigor Mortis. We can't decide if we heart the pumpkin, bride or mummy the most, so maybe we'll adopt all three?

October 20, 2006 : Lucky Dog Designs
|
When we first visited Lucky Dog Designs, we were expecting to find a bevy of goodies for our BFFs – well, our imaginary four-legged friends anyway. But we were just as happy and surprised to find an adorable baby boutique instead – two legs sometimes are as good as four after all.
Darling and funky prints grace diaper bags, toddler aprons, bibs, blankies and burp cloths, making it super easy for us to nab unique gifts for all the little ones in our lives. Plus, 20% of sales in October will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, so we can't resist spoiling the tots and doing good at the same time. If you can't resist either, shop Lucky Dog Designs right here.

October 19, 2006 : Unlock My Heart
|
We loved the whole key necklace trend, but lurve this keyhole necklace even more. It's much more unexpected, feminine yet edgy. Combining a brass keyhole with a faceted rose quartz, which is said to be a powerful element that not only attracts love and affection, but is also considered a powerful healing force, we love how the Hope necklace drapes artfully from its 18" 14k gold-fill chain.
Throughout the month of October, 50% of the proceeds of the Hope necklace will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Shop Juniper Designer right here and treat someone you love to this beautiful and sentimental treasure.

October 18, 2006 : Dear Monday
|
Continuing our quest for cool designers and shops donating a portion of proceeds to Breast Cancer Awareness, we found darling stationery site Dear Monday. We adore the individually hand-decorated and embellished cards that are at once simple and special. From festively chic holiday cards to girly glam birthday cards and any other occasion and non-occasion you can think of, there's something for everyone -- everyone with great taste that is -- at Dear Monday.
Plus, 20% of web sales in October will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Do good and do pretty at Dear Monday right here.

October 12, 2006 : Go For Baroque
|
Get in on the baroque trend without going broke yourself. This gorgeous Beloved by Sophie necklace has an irresistible vintage/found-treasure vibe -- like something you'd find in your grandma's jewelry box. We love the 2-inch jet crystal (though rose and topaz crystals are also available) and envision wearing this all autumn long.
Add an element of dark sophistication to your getup, and see all of the other Beloved by Sophie treasures, right here at The Succulent Wife.

October 11, 2006 : Wild Garden
|
A girl simply can't have too many tees, especially when they're as pretty as the ones at Wild Garden. We love the organic look and simple sophistication and are all aflutter over the new pale blue boatneck top with butterflies floating about. Wrap a cozy heather grey sweater on top and you're set for a beautiful day.
Scope out all of the pretty tees, and scarves and totes too, right here at Australia-based Wild Garden. All pieces are limited edition so you can almost be sure no one else will ever be stealing your style.

October 10, 2006 : Notepolish Paperie
|
We have a total style crush on new online shop Notepolish Paperie. They share our love for details, our desire to make the everyday special and more chic, and of course are as obsessed with paper as we are. In addition to the gorgeous invitations, announcements and stationery, we're particularly keen on the Coral & Bird Notebooks and the Retro Composition Books. Every girl should be able to jot down her to-do list, or hopes and dreams, in style. And the letterpressed Carbonated Coasters make us want to throw a shindig immediately. Afternoon mocktails anyone?
If you can't join us, join -- and shop -- Notepolish Paperie right here. And, get free shipping this month on orders of $25+ when you use code 'octsh' at checkout. Expires October 31, 2006.

October 06, 2006 : Gifted Wrap
|
One of our absolute favorite parts of gift giving (and receiving) is the presentation. We go gaga for a good wrap, pretty bow and clever card. We can't help it – we're aesthetic addicts. But that's probably no surprise. What was a surprise – an extremely happy one – was coming across Whimsy Press. Known for their "kick-ass wrapping paper," these paper pimps have stolen our hearts with everything from dachshund-bedecked wrap to wrap featuring skulls, tattoos, sushi and more.
We're especially keen on the D.I.Y. Doodle Wrap where we can break out the crayons (or markers) and design our own one-of-a-kind masterpiece. With the holiday season just around the corner, this is one site you'll want to bookmark. Scope out the whimsical wrap, along with ribbon, stickers, notecards and notepads, right here at Whimsy Press.

October 05, 2006 : Balancing Act
|
When BussBuss is feeling a bit unbalanced and needs a little break, she heads over to the West Side Highway (Hudson River Park) for a stroll or a bike ride. And she's always surprised by and in awe of the brave souls at the trapeze school that's set up alongside the park. While envious of those flying high above the city, she full well knows she'll probably never be a swing kid herself.
But she can get into the spirit with one of these whimsical totes by Miele Fresca. A nice reminder that life should always include some fun and adventure, whether that means keeping your feet on the ground or your head in the clouds, you can pick up the darling bag right here.

October 01, 2006 : Bad to the Bone
|
We weren't in love with the skull trend for us so much (just because it seemed like everyone and her sister was rawking it), but we think it's hilarious and adorable for pooches. Remember, doggies like to look good too (or so we imagine). The Smilely Skull Tank makes us want to adopt a puppy – or 10 – but if you're lucky enough to already have one, or know someone who does, spoil that trendy pooch with this too-cute-for-words tank from trixie + peanut right here.

September 29, 2006 : Seeing Spots
|
If you love the whole leopard print trend, but don't want to look like everyone else and like a touch of irony in your wardrobe, check out this mod tunic alternative by Free People. The sexy/cool vibe is haute and we like that you can rawk it solo as a dress or over skinny pants or leggings for those of us a smidge more modest (re: not as confident as we used to be about our gams). Check it out at right here at sweet boutique Luv Charlie.

September 26, 2006 : Celebrities Censored
|
Are you a teen queen superstar, royalty or perhaps just a royal pain? Tired of the stalkerazzi recording your every move? We feel your pain (in our fantasyland that is). Pop on a pair of these fangasmic censor bar glasses and nab your BFF La Lohan a pair too. The inside edges are reflective so you can even see who's talking behind your back (yeah, that means you, Paris!).
Bring silly back with a pair from the funtabulous Fred Flare right here.

September 22, 2006 : Hang In There
|
Sometimes, life is plain ol' overwhelming. For those days that you need a little pick-me-up, may we present the 'Hang In There' tee? Besides being sweet and adorable, like the designer herself, we dig the tee's simplicity.
We also think the 'We Broke Up' tee is awesome, but it's the story behind the tee that we heart even more. Read it for yourself on the Edge of Urge site (let's just say it has something to do with an ex-boyfriend and a small town). Pick up your pick-me-up tee at the uniquely fabulous shop Edge of Urge right here.

September 21, 2006 : World According to Jess
|
We've been fans of the uniquely colorful and crazy bag line World According to Jess for a long time now. It's always so refreshing to see bags that are outside of the box and not just vague knockoffs of trendy so called "It" bags – and we just plain dig the youthful vibe (and bet WATJ does a lot of biz in Japan). So we were super excited to see the sale going on at WATJ right now. Some bags we've coveted for years now are now at prices so friendly we can gobble up a handful – ah, Mom was right: patience is a virtue!
Faves include the Preppy Fun Traveler (was $210, now $65), the Bubbys Crossword (was $200, now $90) and the Zip It Traveler (was $265, now $125). Can you tell we're ready for our trip abroad? Scope out your faves right here at World According to Jess – and remember, it's never too early to start thinking about holiday gifts!
