When it comes to bags, we don’t like anything that’s too precious. Correction: We like many a precious bag, but we never carry the delicate ones. We need bags we can toss around, not be afraid to set down in a taxi or a subway or a desert. For more than a few years we’ve happily abused the pants off of Alena Hennessy’s totes and it’s amazing how well they’ve held up. But it’s time for something new.
Instead of browsing our fave department stores, we’re browsing hardware stores instead.
Why? Klein tool bags are so beyond cute, with a cool nautical vibe, and are rugged enough for those whose main accessory is usually a tool belt.
From cute little change purses for $12 to larger everyday totes that will cost you less than $50, you’ll be sure to find something you love. Leather bags available too (under $200), though we’re partial to canvas.
Watch out L.L. Bean.

Have you had the insane pleasure of watching North by Northwest? One of our favorite lines? “I don’t believe I caught your name.” “I don’t believe I pitched it.” Oh, Cary Grant…
We digress. Have you had the insane pleasure of meeting Harvey Faircloth? Contrary to the name, Harvey Faircloth is actually a trio of way-too-talented women whose previous jobs, ranging from Martha Stewart styling to Kate Spade art directing and elephant shipping (don’t ask), lead them to clothes making.
Their new spring/summer line is so much fun, a cross between Kate Spade and Built by Wendy, with a large dose of their very own witty, unique aesthetic tossed in. Think preppy meets indie meets worldly. We would expect nothing less from Katie Hatch and Abby Clawson Low.
We love the hand-painted pieces (designed by the enormously talented Paulina Reyes), and the accessories are irresistible. Who doesn’t need a penny ring or a rainbow of sunnies?
It’s also really fun to see their inspirations and the behind the scenes action and we are just waiting for our invitation to be besties. We’ll keep checking the mail…
Until then, take a peek at it all here.

Molly Ringwald may not have been pretty in pink at last night’s Oscar ceremonies (she opted for purple; we added her to our Worst Dressed List), but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be.
The universally flattering hue is even more appealing in this cool ’80s-inspired backless mini with draped batwing sleeves and slashed armholes.
Suddenly pink’s not just girly, it’s extremely chic, too.

Charlize Theron; Zoe Saldana
We swear we have nothing against purple. In fact, we’ve been rather obsessed with it recently (could it be spring and Easter looming on the horizon?). But these two gorgeous-beyond-belief ladies topped our Worst Dressed List for other reasons. Charlize, two reasons (hint, hint: both can be found between your shoulders and your waist). Zoe, the color is fab on you, but it also looks like Barney tossed his cookies on you. The bottom also reminds us of those scrunchy shirts that were all the rage 8 years ago (and to our horror, that we recently spotted in Walgreens).

Molly Ringwald; Penelope Cruz
Oh, Molly. The dress is actually not bad. In fact, the sheen aside, we like it a lot. But the accessories and hair kill it. A low-slung chignon would have been perfect, but the springy wire at the waist and arm are just unforgiveable. Perhaps, you should stick to pink? You are so pretty in it (sorry, couldn’t resist). Penelope, you’re far too beautiful to wrap yourself in curtains. Ms. O’Hara may disagree, but the heavy drapes are not working for us (plus, you blend into the carpet). Look: the carpet does match the drapes!

Fashion is very personal and we know that our picks are bound to be controversial and likely to land on many Worst Dressed Lists. But we can’t help it. We loved these gowns and the ladies in them because they stood out, made a statement, and most of all, because we’ll remember them. We also thought they reflected each woman’s personal style so well. From the vintage-inspired to the artful and glamorous, our faves picks for Best Dressed.

But you be the judge. Who do you think deserves the top prize of Best Dressed?

Is Kate Winslet Queen of the Red Carpet?
She seldom makes a misstep and her silver Oscar gown is no exception. But is it stunning or bo-ring?

Presenter Demi Moore opted for a nudey hue. Does it do her justice?
Our first question: What is Demi Moore doing at the Oscars? Later we discovered it was to present the tribute to those no longer with us. Second question: Wouldn’t it be funny to include someone still living in the tribute? Maybe Tiger Woods? But back to the dress… We love/hate it. Help us decide, is this hot or a hot mess?
