Designer Bio: Jennifer Graham of Urbanity Clothing
Jennifer Graham's love of eye-catching, unique designs is clearly evident in her lively, colorful couture creations. Mixing beautiful fabrics with an attention to detail that's rarely seen these days, the results are a fabulous blend of sophisticated, urban and cutting-edge styles. Her love of fashion started early. "Growing up, my mother taught me the ropes of sewing. I absorbed it and took everything in. When I was young, I sewed clothes for my Barbies, Ken, Michael Jackson and my poor dog," says Graham. Later, bored by mainstream dull clothing, she started creating her own designs, styles and patterns, bringing everything to life. She's since moved on to life-size Barbie and Ken dolls, outfitting some of the area's most sophisticated shoppers. "My clothing line, Urbanity, which means style, sophistication, culture and refinement, includes purely exclusive, distinct, energetic and vivid styles of apparel and accessories." Soon, you'll be able to view her entire line at urbanityclothing.com.
Designer Bio: Kelly Lee of BussBuss
Kelly Lee began her design career purely by accident. Always a creative and entrepreneurial spirit, she began first in media, writing shopping reviews for AOL, eventually founding the online fashion magazine BussBuss.com. Featuring great designs daily on BussBuss.com, she got to know the ins and outs of the retail and design world. Craving another way to express her own vision and quirky personality (she'd already been painting for years), she finally decided to try out the intimidating sewing machine she'd been given as a gift for Valentine's Day. "At first, I was extremely frustrated -- I didn't even know how to thread the machine!" But soon after, frustration turned to addiction, and a design career was born. "I'd finally found an outlet for expressing my love of pop culture and color and design in a 3-D, tactile form. It was love at first stitch!" Utilizing bright, funky and feminine fabrics, as well as a variety of mediums including paint on fabric, she creates totes and accessories for people searching for that extra something special. Influenced by Texas, the 1920s, vintage fashions, food and film, the results are fresh and accessible accessories for people with fab senses of style and humor. Despite an instant and warm reception by retailers and shoppers all over the globe, she doesn't take BussBuss or herself too seriously. "Fashion is not important. Fun is important. And it's important, to me at least, to have fun." Check out Lee's "fun" line of accessories at BussBuss.com.
