Go Nude for Spring

nude shoes; nude sandals; nude flats; nude heels; dolce vita shoes

One of my favorite shoe brands is Dolce Vita and one of the best tricks for elongating gams is wearing nude shoes. Plus, nude is the ultimate neutral for warm-weather months, replacing black as the go-with-anything hue. So when I saw Dolce Vita’s new nude shoes for spring, it was a match made in fashion heaven.

I’m particularly loving the Audrey-esque nude ballet flats, the nude wedges that will be so cute with rompers, the amazing stacked nude heels for when I feel like growing five inches (instantly 5’9″ instead of 5’4″ — yes, please!), and the nude strappy sandals for running all over town in (and maybe hitting up a music festival or two). Are you ready to go nude?

Check out the entire collection here.

LA Fashion Bloggers + Bacon Doughnuts

la fashion week; the nickel diner bacon doughnuts; bacon donuts

Last night, I attended a pre-LA Fashion Week party hosted by Two Point Oh LA at The Falls downtown. Two Point Oh LA is an organization that unites LA fashion, beauty and style bloggers and social media mavens, while seeking to help promote LA designers and the local fashion community. I’m proud to be a member.

It’s always fun to play dress up and, this time, the dress had special meaning — it was one of a handful that I bought as a possible wedding dress! This one is vintage Geoffrey Beene that I found at City Opera in New York. It has sparkly arms and I thought it could work for our Central Park in February wedding. Instead, I ended up wearing a short white dress that night — that nobody ever saw because it was 18 degrees outside and under my white coat! — so I was happy to finally wear this dress for the first time in five years (crazy, I know). I tossed on a faux fur jacket, my White House Black Market bow ring, chevron-patterned tights and sky-high Nine West heels. I carried a Kate Spade patent clutch and that’s a Kate Spade iPhone case you see above too.

The Falls was a pretty little rustic-chic spot, with wood logs, glass chandeliers and fresh cocktails. Two Point Oh LA’s founder Kelsi Smith of the blog Dedicated Follower of Fashion can be seen above and below honoring two LA designers, Chelsea Rebelle and Mila Hermanovski (remember her from Project Runway, she made it to the finale to show at Bryant Park in season 7?). I chatted with my fashion blogger pals Eileen Lee of La Lovetta and ModelWire Network and DIY maven Kristen Turner of Glitter ‘N Glue (she also happens to be one of Selena Gomez’s stylists – uh oh, did I catch Bieber Fever?!).

I thought this Minnie Mouse-esque bow dress by Chelsea Rebelle was adorable. And you know how I feel about black and white (Mila’s signature).

Of course, no evening (in my book) is complete without something sweet. So darling K and I popped on over to the Nickel Diner. Oh yeah, you know, that one.

It would be the place where I would lose my bacon doughnut virginity.

And where I downed my first homemade pop tart. A tart I felt like, indeed. Was it worth it? Well, I’ll leave you with this…

Simply Stunning: Kate Bosworth

Nearly every time I see Kate Bosworth, she looks stunning. And proves that less is more. The minimalist look really works on her and feels very fresh and effortless for spring, when we’re all ready to shed layers and simplify. Here, she’s wearing an orange Calvin Klein SS/11 shift to Calvin Klein’s fall 2011 presentation at New York Fashion Week. She completes the look with a pair of simple ankle boots. Voila, perfection.

And I really love that she makes flats look chic. This is the way to get around the city. And if you’re petite and waif-like, consider making Kate Bosworth your style twin. Do you love her simple minimalist, under-accessorized look as much as I do? Would you rock these looks? DISH in the comments below!

Moore for Less: Julianne Moore & Talbots

julianne moore for talbots

Julianne Moore’s bold, modern style I’ve always adored. Talbots? Well. Truth be told, I never paid much attention. Until now. First of all, it’s nearly impossible to believe that Julianne Moore is 50. 5-0, folks. If this is what 50 looks like, I can’t wait. Yes, I know things have been airbrushed, but she’s a fox in real life too. Second, when did Talbots become the new J.Crew? Stylish, ladylike, covetable, I can’t wait to get my hands on the mid-century modern pieces so I can finally live out my A Single Man fantasies once and for all. If only I could have made contact with Colin Firth. Ah, well. Life imitates art, I suppose. Are you loving these looks too? Did I mention that many pieces are under $80? I know, right. It’s like getting Moore for less (sorry, couldn’t refrain). You can peruse and shop all of the dreamy pieces Julianne Moore is modeling right here.
