I’ve always loved the idea of a short wedding dress like Audrey Hepburn wore in Funny Face. Playful and sweet, there’s something utterly charming about a tea-length or mini wedding dress, don’t you think?

For our wedding, I wore a knee-length white dress under a white coat (I don’t think anyone ever saw it as it was 18 degrees outside!), and a floor-length Art Deco-inpsired silky dress for the reception. If I were getting married today, I’d love to wear some of these pretty dresses:

This sweet-chic babydoll dress by Romona Keveza (the same designer of Kaley Cuoco’s SAG Awards dress) from her Spring 2012 RTW collection. So spirited, I adore the flirty feel and the movement.

These darling mini wedding dresses from BHLDN make my heart skip a beat (left: Seraph’s Whim Shift; right: Miraflores Dress). How perfect for a garden, backyard, or courthouse wedding.

This BHLDN minty crinoline skirt (which also reminds me of Kaley Cuoco’s mint Romona Keveza dress) took my breath away. (I’m obsessed with this color!)

While not a short wedding dress, I am completely smitten with this Oscar de la Renta poppy-print gown from his Spring 2012 RTW collection {similar}. Does it make you swoon, too?

So tell me, would you wear a short wedding dress or an unexected wedding dress with a twist? If you’re already married, what did you wear on your weddding day? What would you wear if you were getting married today? 

I just had the pleasure of spending a week in Texas with my amazing Mom, where we made fools of ourselves doing workout DVDs (let’s get physical, physical!) and picnicked with my niece on the back porch (she doesn’t like to get too hot – what a little diva!). Knowing that I’ll read anything with the slightest mention of Audrey Hepburn or Breakfast at Tiffany’s, my fab father-in-law tipped me off to Sam Wasson’s new book, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and the Dawn of the Modern Woman ($11) and I can’t wait to devour it. All about the making of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, it’s chockfull of juicy tidbits, like how Truman Capote wanted Marilyn Monroe to play Holly Golightly (imagine!), that any lover of Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, New York City, or the 1960s will surely love.

Did you have a lovely weekend, dolls? In addition to seeing Betty White (and Tina Fey & Co.) own it on SNL, talking to my Mom and Dad for the first time after their very first trip to Paris, catching up with old friends from New York who were in town for the weekend and seeing a mama bird and her darling tiny babies crossing the road after a beautiful sunny, windy hike in Indian Canyons, one of the weekend highlights was watching Two for the Road for the very first time.

I know, big  surprise that I would watch (and love) an Audrey Hepburn movie.

Despite Audrey’s hubby (in the movie) being a total cad, it’s fun to watch their European roadtrip adventure, the adventure of their marriage and the adventurous fashion choices — made even better by all the yummy vintage cars and lively dialogue (not to mention a very good message).

If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.

It certainly made my Favorite Movies list.

Not only is a themed gift like this great to get, but it’s so much fun to give. For a wedding gift, we once had a blast finding Roman delights for friends who were spending their honeymoon in Rome (think Roman Holiday, books on Rome, Italian wine,  all wrapped in paper with a vintage world map and topped off with a card with a Vespa on the front).

Every couple seems to have a song. If you and your guy have a movie, get inspired by all of the great Living In posts here. Or maybe you share a love of Paris? Or of camping. Maybe he adores a certain book. Hunt down a first edition. Give a writer a fabulous pen and journal, or a coveted vintage typewriter. Maybe photography’s his passion? A vintage or silly, fun camera would be cute. Just showing the one you love (or kinda like a lot) that you know them, will melt his/her heart.
